I bought this shredder from Bunnings on 2 March 2023.It worked ok on light loads, but tended to get blocked easily (leave freshly cut branches to dry out for 3 - 4 days before shredding, as recommended).The blades become blunt quickly. I reversed them, as per instructions, but when I went to buy replacement blades, I was informed that Bunnings do not stock replacement blades and I would have to make a ‘special order’.I did this. Was told “Out of stock with Ozito”. I am still waiting ….. Latest communication from Bunnings is that they won’t be back in stock with Ozito until the end of June. Not desperately impressive.

So far this thing has gobbled up everything I've thrown at it.It can get kinda clogged with leafy spongy material like Totara leaves & twigs. With earmuffs on it's heard to hear the tone of the motor when it does get under load. It would be good if they added a 'clogging' light to let you know it needs to be cleared. But that's a minor quibble.Otherwise very happy with its performance and it's actually quite fun to use

Having read the specs on available replacements and also the feedback which was so vastly varied on individual machines that it was confusing rather than helpful. My old shedder was an Ozito Silent Shredder which had to have been about 25 years old during which it had served me well and had been worked extremely hard on quite a number of occasions. Hence, I decided to replace it with the 'new and improved' same model (Silent) only to find that there were none in stock. After some mental umming and ahhring I decided to buy the same brand that had served me well but was also the cheapest by a country mile (appropriate) ... Opened the box and was very disappointed as I expected it to have the same cutting action as the Silent model. The pruning had backed up quite a bit so I decided to keep it and proceeded to assemble the machine which was very simple and easy. What a surprise I received when I started to use it, went like a ripper (pun intended) Sure it has some small drawbacks but most domestic shredders do, such as not liking soft leaves very much and the fact that it is so light which is great for moving it around but it does have a tendency to move around dependent on the surface it's standing on. This machine has an overload operation which I assumed would be a cut out but I found that when a blockage was forming, around the cutting mechanism not the outlet, it reduces the rpm by 50% and this not only tells you that a blockage is evolving but gives the opportunity to clear it without shutting down and opening the unit up. The blockage that is forming will invariably be soft foliage and I've found that a solid branch with little attached can be bumped through the cutter rather than fed in a straight feed and what this means is that several pieces of wood are fired at the emerging blockage and after half a dozen of these the blockage is shocked into letting go and clears itself. Giving yourself a good understanding of what transpires within the machine and applying some common sense to the operation will make the usage so much easier. As I titled this comment IT IS WHAT IT IS, a great lightweight machine at a very cheap price with some small issues that are not insurmountable. A closing tip. The release handle to open the machine and close, requires about 15-20 rotations (Even the handbook sounded apologetic about this) not doubt a safety thing or it would just be a latch. The head of the handle has an opening to fit a 3/8" Allen Key (10mm will also fit just minutely looser) I have cut the bendy bit from the Allen key, araldited the straight bit into the appropriate socket that will fit a low torque rechargeable screw driver and it is no longer necessary to swear at the machine.

I was hesitant because of not so great reviews and rating, but decided to give it a try because of smallish fragments produced by this model compared to silent one in youtube videos. It is my first shredder, and I have no experience with other models. A pile of Lilly Pilly twigs and branches with green leaves was processed in very short time. The mulch is mainly fine, except for very soft twigs on which I removed the leaves. Some of these were crashed into pieces up to 10cm, but not many. In contrast, branches with leaves were crashed quite well. I have not pushed the shredder, branches were ~20-25mm. It is noisy. It is very light and easy to move around. The shredder is of a great help for processing of green waste on small scale.
Quiet? Only if you are deaf or i have a better hearing ability than a bat!This item is not a mulcher it is a chewer.When set up properly it will chew sticks upto about 2 cm diameter when 70% dry. It will chew sticks to about 3cm diameter. Above 3cm it will only squash whet sticks.As for palm fronds it will chew about half a frond, it will squash about 1/4 of the frond, the rest is just way to big to put in the machine.Would i recommend, well that depends on what you want, it will allow you to put more in your 'green' bin, but it does not do a good job for garden mulching unless you like 2cm long pieces, if you want to compost then this will help speed up the process.Again it is NOT quiet, if you think it is then you had better get a hearing check!
The first Ozito shredder lasted one hour before it would no longer shred. Returned to Bunnings and obtained a replacement. The replacement lasted 30 minutes before no longer shredding. On both occasions I was trying to shred fresh cut, green thin branches from a few garden shrubs which were no thicker than a finger. Far narrower than stated in the instructions and the diagram on the unit. Back to Bunnings and of course I can always rely on Bunnings for a full refund. I then bought the Ryobi top of the line shredder which made short work of the remainder of my job without any problems, hiccup, clogging or need to reverse the motor. In my opinion Bunnings only stock the Ozito for dummies like me who originally baulk at the price of the Ryobi knowing the customer will ... What a rubbish product.Got it today and it hardly shreds anything well.The product claims it's self feeding - it's a lie. There's nothing in it that would make it self feeding. You have to keep pushing everything no matter the size, diameter, hardness, straightness, or whatever.It claims to shred sticks 35mm in diameter. No, it doesn't!It can more or less handle 15-20mm, but that's if they're ideally straight.Don't waste your time and money.
My property is full of trees and bushes that have been long overdue for a prune. I looked into quite a few shredders to make practical use of all the branches (lots of mulch would be handy). I looked at shredders up to the value of $350. Then a family member recommended this one. I was unsure of it, purely because of the price. How good could this be if it's $200 cheaper. Would it be cheap and nasty? Would it deal with the tough branches and lots and lots of green leaves?I ended up buying it a few months ago and have used 15+ times since. And it hasn't missed a beat! It's churned through the branches and leaves, cuts it all up nice and fine, and the mulch is great. I'm stoked with this purchase so far.

As such you end up with them clogging it up and you need to open the machine up and clean it out for every 10-15 minutes of chipping up garden waste.So realistically, it's good for big stuff but hates the small stuff, which would be 75% of your average garden waste.Also seems to struggle on the first few bites with the bigger stuff approaching its limit, it says you should mulch stiff while still green, however that seems to soften the blow and absorb the inertia of the blades, causing it to bog in and stall, so if the blade pitch was corrected and maybe a higher ratio gear drive fitted ...
