I have two of these and so far ( 2 years) I have haevn't had any trouble. I use them in a pit for drainage.The only thing that could be better is before the float kicks in. I have tried many things but still the float has to be too high for my pit.I would like to connect it to a hard pipe instead of the flexible hose I have now, but not sure how to connect it to the actual pump fitting.

Does the job in my storm water sump. Bit of mucking around to get it to sit in a stable position but all good sofar. Best price and recommendations for purpose. Time will tell on its longevity, only active on heavy rain days.

Don'd do what i did. i bought the Ozito 25mm tubing kit, infact two of them and connected. 2.5 days later i'm still trying to empty the pool - sleepless nights. spend the money and use larger pool hose for your vac as the other smarter people did in the reviews above - they say 2.5hr pfft i wish. the constant kinking makes uniform constant pressure flow impossible. good product - poor operator.

I bought this yesterday to drain out a hole dug for an in-ground spa that was full of rainwater, and then to use for ongoing water draining from the drainage pit below the spa as required in the future.I read the comments here which were very helpful, so I bought an 8m pool hose ($29) with rubber joiner (32-40mm size for $10.35) to connect to the pump. This larger diameter hose allows for a great amount of water flow/min, with the 3mx3mx1m pit emptying in approx 40mins. I was very impressed with the power coming from the 350W motor - the lowest wattage I found in my research but has more than enough power to do what was needed.
I bought it yesterday to drain my swimming pool. The pool was not used for a long time and full of leaves and very murky. The pump drained the dirty water without any issues. Extremely happy withe results. Excellent pump for a really good price!
I purchased one to empty my pool (30,000 litres) which it has done twice now due to the beautiful Brisbane weather. I have also used it to drain an electrical/stormwater trench I was digging that was continuously filling from subsoil water. The pump is a beast. Only thing it doesn't like is blockages bigger than 10mm, drainage gravel, wood chips etc. I recommend fitting some open mesh fly screen over it to act as a filter.Well and truly worth the money I paid for it.
This unit seems to work fine but be aware that you need a better option than the hose they they recommend… the submersible pump installation kit contains the thin plastic water hose and string to assist dripping the pump into the water but the hose/pipe itself is thoroughly useless. Even when under pressure this hose will kink in multiple places if you try to bend it over edges of surfaces (up and over the wall of a pool for example) Regardless of pressure these kinks will halt all water flow. I would recommend either attaching to a garden hose (if you have a long time to spare) or an old pool hose (you may need a rubber connector with hose clamps on either side of the connector. It’s a bit tippy but if you’re a diy’er it shouldn’t be hard to build something to stabilise it.Once it protrudes a bit above the water level then it seems to be more stable under its weight.All up not bad for the price. I’ve left it to drain an old pool so if it hasn’t burned out overnight or fallen over then it was worth the price.
This is a cheap pump, both in price and construction. It's not as durable as higher quality units, but it does that job that I got it for. We have an excavation that gets flooded each time it rains and this pump has proved useful in pumping out the water. I would be dubious about installing it in a permanent position in a tank, but for occasional use, it's good enough for the job and the cheap price meant that it was the ideal choice for what we needed to do. I'd recommend this pump for occasional use such as this.

I tried siphoning the water out but only worked for a small amount of water. It worked really well and great value for my money. Flow rate was down on what was claimed on the carton but just took a little longer than I calculated. Hooked it up to my garden hose using a Nylex style hose connector, which was easy to disconnect. However, the hose became blocked a few times with small leaf particles which I flushed out by reconnecting it to my house tap. When the water level was low the floating switch kept turning the pump off so I held it above the level of the pump to keep it running by tying a length of plastic rope to ... MoreVery inexpensive for a one-off use. For those looking for a hose adapter try the nylex grey waste water hose in the plumbing isle....it has a silcone fitting on one end. Or gor an adapter to your pool hose use silicone "Elbow connecting fitting"(MK2 automatic pool cleaner replacement part) in the pool isle.The pump is slow even with the biggest hose attachment. Smaller hoses mean slower flow.Hard to keep the pump upright in the water. I used a brick on the hose. The float switch needs to be tipped up and down to get the pump going. You can rest the float switch in an upright position on the pump to get the pump to stay on for low water level drainage down to 50mm.
