I have now used this trimmer on several hedges around our house and the back of a hedge from next door. It achieved what I had hoped, but not without difficulty. I always read and observe the advice given in the user manual.First it gives no recognition for R vs. L handed work, and arbitrarily says the shoulder strap goes over the L shoulder. Why? The angle adjustment of the head does not reach 90 degrees in either direction, but I can't see a difference between tilting it back or forward. Hence I think I would prefer that it tilted from zero to 90 rather than +45 to -45.The important point is that once the top of the hedge is above eye level, YOU CANNOT SEE WHERE THE CUTTER IS! I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a friend, I'd lend him mine, with the above advice.

Product is too heavy. The trimmer can be used for cutting the top of a hedge but due to poor design the head can only be tilted vertically. The head can’t be rotated 45 degrees to the horizontal ,so it is extremely difficult to cut the front of a hedge. The trimmer has to held on its side so both the handles and strap is useless and it’s difficult to operate and hold the button on.I shall return the product for a refund

I bought this a few weeks ago to trim a high thick hedge we have. I dont know why others have said its not very good, it worked well for me. And rather than waving it out to the side like a sword (I mean, its not a light saber...!) the easy way to use it for trimming things up high is hold it straight above you and walk with it, plus use the supplied shoulder strap to take most of the weight. It's pretty good then. They are all a bit top heavy, and all reviews mention this regardless of brand, but it worked well for me.

With the bushes well out of control with nearly every weekend this year with rain delaying the gardening, a few weekends ago, the Petrol hedger head I was using decided to completely strip its gearsI have used hedgers (petrol, battery) for many years, and particularly in the last 12 years Ihave had a garden with well over 20 native shrubs/bushes that need trimming. . The cost of a new head for this particular model was going to cost more than the Ozito battery hedger, and I was keen to look at Ozito products more as they have impressed me (Ozito Silent Shredder been going more than 5 years, Ozito Compound Saw - 5 years, Ozito drill 2 years and great battery life). After reading reviews I was starting to get buyers paralysis with some claiming that it was no good, or too heavy, or got stuck on branches more than 8 mm thick. With Bunnings/Ozito 5 years warranty, I decided it was worth the gamble and purchased it. Well I did not need to worry, it worked very wellNow I will be honest and cover the points raised.1) It stuck on me once (and it was on a 15mm fibrous branch)...took it off, no further issue2) The head is heavier than a few others (that do not have a motor on the head), however I see the benefit is that there is very little chance of stripping gears as it appears to be a direct drive.3) Take the time to setup the shoulder strap which will allow you to balance the hedger and reduce fatigue.4) I am a year shy of 60, and I found I was able to control it well, even with the weight on the head. I also see that my arms and core are getting a workout (no I dont do Gym) which is probably good for me5) Battery Life appears to be good with the hedger.6) The Ozito range includes a Pole/Saw pruner head as well, so I purchased this as well. I will review this in another review, but with the edger and the pruner, it will cover most of the trimming I need to do.All I can say is that I am impressed and looking forward to getting in the garden again next weekend to continue, and also looking forward to doing a clean out of the garage of some of the older power tools and attachments that are no longer needed with the Ozito now taking their place.
Solid hedge trimmer that helped me to eliminate any need for a ladder to maintain 2.2m high hedges. Was a bit unsure buying it because of others commenting about the weight. However, once you get a hang of it using the strap it can be easily managed. Good reach, cuts well and PXC battery lasted the full cut unlike previous Bosch trimmer. Good price too. Very happy with it overall.
As mentioned by other reviewers, it is heavy especially toward the head. When it reaches the maximum length it becomes almost impossible to manoeuvre. So if you're not tall and strong enough this product is not for you. I have figured out that petrol trimmers are easier to use since the weight distribution is towards the engine which in fact helps when lifting the trimmer. Ideally, I would get a normal cordless trimmer and a good ladder.
Purchased to fix up many untidy hedges for Christmas before stringing the Christmas lights Certainly a very powerful and capable unit and the job was quickened by the long range handle. As with many other reviews this unit has a heavy head so you need to balance the weight with the included shoulder strap. the 2.0 Ah batteries from my Drill and multitool gave around 25mins to 30mins of cutting time . Recommended
Head too heavy to handle, not well balanced even with the handle in the middle. The switch is at the other end of the pole, which makes it hard to hold and keep the switch ON at the same time. Ozito tools are great with shared batteries. But this pole needs a new design.
Coming from a petrol pole hedger where the weight is all at the bottom with the engine, this one has more weight at the top than at the bottom.Which means, it is near impossible to control at heights, especially when the pole is extended and there is a curve involved. For straight hedges, you can hold it perpendicular and it works better since the heavy top doesn’t need to be manoeuvred. Just hold and walk. For small hedges, you’d want to be closer to the blade (where the weighty head is), but the pole can only be shortened so much. Which means less control since you have to hold it parallel with the top hand while being away from the weight too end - it gets tiring very soon. I will be returning this even though I got it on sale and stick to my petrol one.Good ... MoreComing from a petrol pole hedger where the weight is all at the bottom with the engine, this one has more weight at the top than at the bottom.Which means, it is near impossible to control at heights, especially when the pole is extended and there is a curve involved. Blades cut well too.I say try it and can always return it if you don’t like it.
Have never owned a pole trimmer before but this does the job, and is easy to use. Was a bit worried about the weight based on other reviews but found it fine and managed to trim our 40m hedge on one battery charge. Only downside is that we had to purchase a new 18v battery as our existing 18v ozito battery was not compatible.
