I purchased the tap to clean up some threads in a piece of cast brass, however it wasn't able to do the job. P&N have a reputation for producing good quality tools, but this is an absolute dud. Iv been using taps for over 20 years and never had this type of problem before. I will be returning it on my next trip to bunnings.

1x tap only, broke in the thread, waste of money !

I've bought these P&N tap sets in various sizes before. I picked up an M6 yesterday, and found it cut poorly and flexed considerably when trying to cut. The tap started twisting and eventually developed a stress fracture but didn't snap. This is highly unusual and I returned it for a replacement. The new tap worked flawlessly in 5 mm mild steel and was

Bought this yesterday and have now drilled & tapped four holes M4 with success.Quality is good and you just need to take your time when tapping and to use some oil.
Got one good tapped hole in steel before it turned itself into a twistie. Snapped off in the next hole. Used plenty of lube and light cutting pressure with a hand tap. Needs more carbon in it I reckon. P&N must've forgot it grows on trees.
Probs works well in cardboard, but anything tougher than that and it will break. Probably should be withdrawn from sale. Tap broke in ALUMINIUM hole first use, then drill broke trying to drill out tap.
Managed to get 3 holes tapped before it snapped. For context, the remaining 20 holes were tapped out using the cheapest Chinesium M3 zinc machine screw.Holes were drilled out using the supplied 2.5mm drill bit. I lubricated the hole and tapped by hand. There was a lot of flex in the tool with very little pressure. The tool snapped with very little force applied.Out of the 1000s of holes I've tapped, this tap lasted the shortest and was very disappointing.
Couldn't even last long enough to make single thread in 10mm mild steel. Despite being patient and cautious, the tap just twisted and snapped with very little torque. Very frustrating.
Cheap and useless, spend more on something that won’t snap.
