I've had my TZ90 for three years. It's a brilliant do it all camera with some great feature like the auto electronic view finder and a rotating viewing screen. Ideal for vlogging. It's a great holiday camera with 30 times zoom and takes brilliant photos in good light. In poor light the image quality is not quite so good due to the image sensor size. . I really like the 4K video quality and when you get used to the clunky Panasonic app that transfers files to your phone or tablet. The size of the camera is slightly bigger than I like but with so many features it's a small price to pay.

I have to say that overall I am a very disappointed with this camera.Having read all the rave reviews and checked out sample images, it was bought to replace an ageing Panasonic Lumix TZ10, and to save me lugging around a full DSLR kit all the time.Whilst all the features are a huge improvement over the TZ10, the OIS is amazing and the range of zoom is incredible, I am totally underwhelmed by the quality of the pictures (which is what you want a camera for).I have taken hundreds of shots now to try and get a feel for the camera (and it is incredibly easy to use) but I feel that the shots that come out are very 'noisy' and grainy and not much definition - I have even tried to use a tripod (with the OIS switched off) to eliminate any possible camera movement as ... I tried the SilkyPix application in the hope that this would get the best out the shots, but it must be one of the worst applications ever - so slow and a rubbish interface and at the end it produced rubbish results.I have found the best shots come in the iA+ mode, but I hate being out of control of the settings and a lot of the 'options' are restricted in this mode. I could have spent a lot less money to get a camera to do this.On the plus side is a useful view finder (which is good in bright light) - but this means that the built in flash has moved to right - just where your second finger rests when taking a shot - you have to make a conscious effort to keep the finger out of the way when using flash. When switched on the lens is always deployed - there is no option (as in the previous model) to switch on to 'review' mode, so even when just looking at picture the lens unwinds, draining the battery and wearing the mechanism

I previously had a Panasonic Lumix TZ60 camera for 3 years (also with 30x optical zoom) which was an excellent camera until I accidentally dropped it and smashed the lens... oops! The TZ60 produced pictures that were far superior to more expensive full sized cameras which was particularly noticeable to me when we went to Antarctica on a trip and when swapping photos, other people were amazed at the quality of the little Lumix. I like compact cameras that can fit in my pocket as I can't be bothered lugging around a big camera. I have also tried a Sony DSCHX90 compact camera as that had a flip screen but the picture quality was really poor in comparison to the Lumix. The 30x Optical Zoom and "iA" auto focus is brilliant and in such a compact camera is amazing. I can't see how how anyone can be disappointed with this camera. For this price of 215... wow, simply wow!

I researched quite a bit before settling with this model. I wanted a smaller, but still powerful camera for holidays, rather than taking a bigger SLR. I'm not a photographer but do like take photos and getting details so wanted a good zoom and this certainly delivers. I like the tilting screen . It rotates for selfies (not my thing!) and the quality of photos is excellent. Lightweight and does not take up too much space in my bag but has a wealth of pre set options too to help get the best result whilst I am learning. Also, have to comment on the service at John Lewis. I had found this camera and it was shown as one in stock at local store so travelled there only to be told that if it was a display one as the last one, then they couldn't sell it. However, they took the time to open up the cabinet to check and there was one in stock and one on display so very pleased! But it might be worth JL advising on that if the one in stock is a non sellable display model.
This camera has so many specialised features that I ended up buying a book by Alexander S.White that gives a step-by-step explanation of each one. The quality of the shots, even in the most basic Auto setting, is superb. There are features that enable a skilled photographer to choose their own manual settings for shutter speed, aperture, ISO and focus - but as I said, even using the camera in Auto mode will produce great results. The display is of the touch-screen type, though to avoid fingerprints it can be controlled with the buttons. For those who like taking selfies (who needs that?) the screen can be swivelled up and over to enable you to compose your shot; and by turning the camera upside down it is possible to take shots over the heads of a crowd. There is ... The video mode (in 4K) allows you to take individual frames as still photos. The 30x zoom is excellent: a ship on the horizon that appears as a dot to the naked eye can be photographed on a clear day to see details of its funnel, containers, etc.. With a resolution of 20 mega-pixels, it is possible to zoom right into your photo to see even more.detail.As well as a screen, this camera has a viewfinder, a very useful addition on a bright, sunny day when the screen is hard to see.You may, like me, need a book to get the most out of this camera. It has everything you could want, short of paying a very high amount for an SLR camera; and it has the advantage over them of being easily portable and compact.
I purchased this to upgrade from a cheap "point and shoot" Fuji camera, and this has been simply amazing! Its ability to focus automatically is awesome, and once I have become more familiar with its many features, which are possible in "manual" mode, I feel sure that the camera will live up to my already high expectations. That said, in auto mode the camera is simply awesome! It is small enough to put into my pocket, and yet has many features not often available on similar cameras, and one of the best I will mention, because it was one reason for buying this brand and model - that is, the digital view finder - awesome, especially if you are in bright sunlight, right behind you.The zoom is also quite breathtaking - especially for a complete novice like me, who ... .....so off to JL I went!Having owned my Lumix TZ60 for 7yrs it was time to upgrade so I returned to the Solihull store to take a lookI spoke to a very helpful chap who knew all about cameras and as I was undecided between two of the Lumix cameras, he talked me through each model and I settled on the TZ90 due to the fabulous tilting screenUnfortunately there were no cameras in stock and there weren't any due in until the middle of June but I was signed up for an alert and I didn't have to wait too long before I got a notification that it was now available onlineThe Scene settings are slightly different to the TZ 60 but once you get the hang of the menu, it's easy to navigate to the correct one. Wanted a digital camera to continue to develop my photography as hitting the limits of what I can achieve suing mobile phone camera but didn't want to spend a fortune in case I revert back to PIxel 5 in future.Still finding my feet with the TZ90 but the Intelligent Auto Mode allows a gentle introduction to the features and capabilities of the camera. As I gain more experience of the TZ90 I will start to use the other modes.First impression is that for £299 it seems a very well built and feature rich camera. Time will tell if I am right but for now very pleased with the purchase. Found a lot of useful videos on YouTube to help explore and get best use of the camera. No complaints. Finally the service from Wilkinsons was first class, bought online but spoke to both Web team and my local store and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Wilkinsons. Just be aware they use Parcel Force to deliver so you need to be in or it a trip to the local collection office...
The Panasonic TZ90 is ideal as a travel compact but should not be compared to larger sensor DSLR's and CSC cameras that use much larger sensors. In bright conditions outdoors the camera behaves very well, focusing is pretty quick and results using low ISO's are very respectable. However, dark conditions make a huge difference and focusing is compromised, often bleeping to confirm focus when it hasn't. The camera has four buttons that can be configured as function buttons (Fn), it also has a further five that can be configured on the touch screen, very useful. The zoom range of 24mm - 720mm is very useful and results are quite acceptable at all focal lengths. The zoom range of 24mm - 720mm is very useful and results are quite acceptable at all focal lengths. Activate the digital zoom and this increases to a mind boggling 2880mm, I have not seriously tried this focal length. The viewfinder is a little 'tunnel visionish' but is useful when bright sunlight restricts use of the rear screen. Handling is reasonable with a small grip for the right hand and for it's size the camera is quite robust which helps handling. As a user of large DSLR's and smaller CSC's it is a complete contrast to these types of cameras, especially if, like me you have very large hands, however, handling is acceptable. Charging is done in camera which can be a problem if you need to use the camera so I purchased a spare battery and already owned a multi charger which can be configured to most batteries. In summation I would suggest that the TZ90 is a very reasonable camera so long as you accept the limitations of any compact with a small sensor. The tilting rear screen is also useful for waist level shooting and can be used for selfie's. All in all, not bad at all.
I have had many compact superzoom cameras but this is the best. If you are going to invest in a compact camera I would advise you get one with a viewfinder like the TZ90 otherwise when it is a sunny day or you are searching in the sky for the moon or an airplane without a viewfinder you will be searching and wondering if you have captured the image... The TZ90 is very sharp for a small sensor and you get get quite close for macro shots and zoom in for images like the moon.. It is comfortable to hold with a firm rubber grip. I have set my camera to P so it is easier to alter the colours and the exposure. Excellent camera if you can't get down to get a close up of a dandelion for example but not to worry the screen tilts so you can put the camera close to the object ... Excellent camera if you can't get down to get a close up of a dandelion for example but not to worry the screen tilts so you can put the camera close to the object without doing yourself a mischief ! the screen moves up and down (not sideways !) I put a screen protector on the glass to stop scratches. A little bit more heavier and wider than some compacts but it is worth every penny. Not a bad price either. I have used the Canon SX730 / SX740 / LUMIX TZ95 but the Lumix TZ90 is my favourite. Can't fault it. If you cannot get hold of instructions or find them hard to follow - go on 'youtube' and put in how to use Lumix TZ90 and various people will show you how ! I am familiar with compacts so didn't need instructions.... The images shown below are a lot closer than the photos show. The dandelion was taken with the screen out and the seagulls were on a neighbours bungalow approx. 40 metres + away
