I need a compact camera to undertake candid street photography. I was attracted to the TZ 220 as it was reasonably-priced, had a separate viewfinder (important) could shoot RAW format with it's MOS sensor and had a powerful optical zoom. I have not been disappointed with the capability and quality of this camera - as well as street photography, I now take it with me every time I go out shooting with my larger pro DSLR camera. It's versatile and I can quickly frame shots that complement my DSLR. See my sample photos.

I bought a DC-TZ220 camera to take on our 15 day safari thru Kenya and Taxania. I chose this for a few reasons. Firstly it’s a very compact I found easy to manoeuvre inside a safari 4WD with six people inside. Secondly it has a great zoom range for capturing shots where the subject is a way off. Thirdly and most importantly the very high quality of the pictures. Even when using the digital zoom the quality is more that acceptable. I highly recommend the DC-TZ220 as an outstanding compact camera that offers versatility and quality at an affordable price. Well done Panasonic

I purchased it many years ago. Its lightweight and compact design makes it ideal for travel and daily carry. The lens can extend very far, allowing me to capture distant scenes, and it features a Leica lens. It also has various built-in filters, which make it easy for me to create different styles. What's even better is that it can shoot and record in 4K. I have never regretted buying it.

Luv this camera! Needed a new camera to replace my Fuji camera that was starting to have issues. I did a lot of research before choosing this camera. I mainly wanted a point and shoot camera with powerful zoom to take pictures of birds. It does that very nicely. Once in awhile you will get a blurry picture but not very often. I luv the fact that a short explanation of the tools is displayed on the screen so you know what each setting is for without having to go and look it up. Saving and deleting pics is very easy with this camera. You can even remove portions of a photo right from the camera screen if you wish. I'm a professional photographer for a school + do a lot of hiking and camps.I wanted some other than my heavy and bulky SLR kit(s) to take on camp and travel with the student.I initially liked this camera because of the zoom range and that it could still shoot RAW (I shoot everything RAW). There are a good number of other functionalities that I like. However, its ability to handle digital noise is extremely poor (even just beyond iso 800), and requires me to heavily post-process the image to get sharp/clean images. At only 3 months, I almost feel like giving it away and looking for something with better image quality.
After getting this camera in December 2022 and using it for 7 months now, I can say that this is a great camera for someone who would want to get into photography. The image quality obviously isn’t going to match that of other more expensive cameras, but it’s very good for the price. For me personally I always use -2/3 exposure compensation on my photos because on 0 it looks overexposed in my opinion. If you enjoy photographing birds, nature, wildlife, or anything outdoors; I think this is a great option. Just make sure you choose a sunny day to take outdoor photos as your images will start to get noticeable grain above 400 ISO. Other than that, it’s a great bridge camera for the price and is a very good option for a beginner!
I've worn out the zoom in my FZ70, what with my multi-year project to inventory the estimated thousand or more of many-centuries-old junipers on my forty acres. Was pleased to find this newer version that is basically the same, but faster, and only weighs a bit more so I can still shoot one-handed while balancing with a walking stick in my other hand. Still lots to learn by studying the user manual. The one negative is that while auto-focusing, the emoji-icons in the upper left corner of monitor are dancing and changing, being a distraction; I am still researching how to get them to go away (including if it will damage the screen to put a piece of black electrical tape over that corner)----I just need the camera to do the focusing, I don't need it to tell/show me it ... MoreI've worn out the zoom in my FZ70, what with my multi-year project to inventory the estimated thousand or more of many-centuries-old junipers on my forty acres. Its a Lumix, if you know, you know. This camera does everything well, from your standard everyday photography, to your portraits, to street, to landscape even nightscape and some astrophotography. And did I mention it shoots video in 4K! Wow! The lumix has always been known for their ease of use and quality and this one is no different. Great camera for anyone, beginner to professional. Obviously not a professionals cameras with its small sensor, but it certainly offers a lot of bang for the buck.
If you need a Digital SLR Camera with a fantastic zoom for a terrific price, the Panasonic Lumix FZ80 is the camera you have been looking for! The 60x Optical zoom is just fantastic for taking pictures at a distance. We live on a small lake and were constantly frustrated that we could not get good pictures with iPhones - either of wildlife, boats on the lake or even sunsets. This is a really great camera that is as easy to use as point, zoom, shot. The AutoFocus and Auto Aperture features make sure that you get a quality picture all the time. Just realize that you will need to use a tripod when you are taking long shots, even with the image stabilization feature.
