The Panasonic 35-100 is a lovely lens. Excellent optics. Compact and light. I've shot it wide open and closed down and there is very little shift from top to bottom. The f2.8 is about as good as you can hope for from a lens with this zoom range, and what I like best about the lens is that the barrel doesn't telescope. This lens is extremely compact and lightweight for its focal range. The full frame equivalent to this lens (70-200mm) is a pain to lug around all day. This lens works great for events, especially when paired with its natural partner, the 12-35mm zoom. Image quality out of this lens is good, stabilization is great and the easy handling make it an all-round great lens.

Start this off, the 35mm equivalent is the 70-200mm. Which on a full frame is $2000+ and at least double the size/weight. For what it is, its definitely a bargain for the price. This is the perfect portrait lens for the micro-4/3rds system. The depth of field is exceptional, given the f2.8. Its weather sealed and zooms internally. For photography, this is my primary lens on my Panasonic GH5. It can accomplish most of what I need. I terms of quality, I'd put it right up there with the Canon EF70-200 IS III USM, but at a fraction of the size and price.The small size, good image stabilization and durability make this a great option for travel. The size is also great if you want to be a little less intrusive.While I mostly shot photos, the lens really shines when you shoot video. The image stabilization performs very well when combined with the in camera stabilization, but more importantly, the lens (at least when used with the GH5) dose a great job at keeping focus, and with aperture adjustments.
This is the second lens of the Holy Trinity of zooms for my LUMIX G9. This lens is fantastic for the money. Small, light, compact, and covers the 70-200mm f/2.8 range of a DSLR. This fits in a cargo pants pocket or jacket pocket. And, it pairs well with the 12-35 f/2.8. I'm using it with the LUMIX G9 for photo and video.This lens does real sharp 4K video through the zoom range even at f/2.8. The focus is super fast and accurate. The zoom ring feels very smooth, and the focus by wire on this lens is very efficient, and works great compared to other focus by wire. It doesnt really offer that much advantage over the 14-140mm kit lens, which, frankly, is just at sharp at f/5.6.If youre planning to shoot indoors (ie. sports), f/2.8 is just too slow. I found myself at ISO3200 more often than not. The Sigma 56mm/1.4 is much, much sharper, to the point that youre better off cropping in at 56mm than shooting at 100mm with the 35-100. Im able to stay at (or below) ISO1600.If youre outdoors, youre better off with the 14-140 kit lens. Its almost perfect at f/5.6, and *much* cheaper, lighter, and smaller. This is a tiny 70-200 f2.8 equivalent lens which produces exemplary results. It's well made and weather sealed. It's a bargain in Micro 4:3 system. It's easy enough to get subject separation with this focal length and speed.It's no use having an exotic glass if it's too big to carry and have with you. This is so light and small (for what it is).Hope this helps.
I adore this lens. The images it makes are just amazing (sharp, great colors, great bokeh, etc.). It is super tiny for the focal range. I take it with me to shoot all my kids outdoor sports and action events. I also shoot full frame but those equivalent lenses are much larger and draw a lot more attention. I like being able to take action pics of my kids without lugging giant gear. Is the image quality as good as full frame 70-200 f/2.8? In almost every way yes! You won't get as blurry of backgrounds but you still get good speration. I almost always shoot this wide open and always am blown away by the images it produces.
This is a decent MFT lens which I bought for personal use matched up to my GX85. It makes a nice small travel kit. When the Olympus E-M1 mkII was on sale for half off I grabbed one and was not disappointed. What has happened though, is high resolution full frame mirrorless kits, such as my Nikon Z7 with a 24-200, are just about the same size as the Olympus with the 35-100 (70-200). Yes, most of the full frame lenses are larger but the image quality, especially when cropping/enlarging, are light years apart. Cameras are tools, each has their place. If cost and size matters most, then MFT is not a bad way to go, and the Lumix 35-100 is a good place to start.
