I’ve owned this camera for a little under two weeks now, and I can safely say that this is hands down.. the best / most technologically advanced camera I have ever owned. My first dslr was a Nikon D40, and my last camera was a Fuji X-T2. Which I still own. Anyway, this is my first full frame camera. I’ve always wanted one and I finally made the leap. I went ahead and got the Panasonic 50mm F1.8 lens also and I would recommend it if you want a nice fast prime lens to pair it with also. You can record video apsc mode or full frame mode in everything from 1080P 60 fps up to 6K 30 fps. I shoot in 4K / 30fps and the video quality is crisp! Neither of the lenses that I own for this camera have OIS, but the built in IBIS of the camera is great for handheld photos and videos. I love it. I never used any of my older cameras for video because they were always so shaky and the autofocus was never reliable. The autofocus on the LUMIX S5II is very reliable. I also love the colors straight out of the camera. After two weeks of use, I am still finding new things in the settings menu. It’s pretty wild. Battery life is decent, it charges via usb C, so you can give it a quick littl top off with a standard usb c cable or battery pack when you’re not using it. I thought it was a little heavy initially but I’ve become accustomed to its size and weight and honestly I don’t have many complaints or any regrets on spending my money on this camera kit. I am confident that I will be able to take tons of great photos and videos with this kit for many years to come. I forgot to mention that this camera will literately record video until either your battery dies or you run out of memory I’m your sd card. It’s awesome. No overheating, no recording limits. My only complaint about this camera is that once in a while it takes a couple seconds longer to power on. Not sure why, maybe it goes into a deep sleep / power off when your turn it off and leave it off for a long time. All in all, I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants a professional grade camera for videos and photos. I am fully invested into the Fujifilm camera system and I have no regrets buying this camera kit. I’m not going to sell off all my other stuff, but I think this will be my main camera going forward.

Battery life is about the same as my GH5 although I think the S5ii battery is bigger I believe there is more processing power needed by the camera best to pick up a spare battery although I do get about 2 hours of continuous battery shooting both video and photos.I like to shoot both video and photos and so far the photos have been excellent and with the new AF I have not had a blurry photo in the bunch. And videos are the same but just with some issues like I mentioned above.I did not have a lot of money invested in the GH5 with accessories and lenses so making the jump to full frame was a bit easier for me. Being a full frame camera I found the S5ii to be a bit heavier, but not much, and the full frame lenses are a bit bigger as well.Like I stated I am a novice so don't beat me up with comments I just wanted a good camera that learn how to use and could grow into and for ME I think I have made the right choice.

I sold my S5 so I could switch to the well-reviewed S5 II. I'm about to take it to Egypt with the Lumix S 24-105 f/4 lens to create a YouTube world travel video. With the S5 II body presenting a choice of 3 frame sizes -- Full, APS-C or Pixel/Pixel, the lens actually will have a stupendous range of 24mm-361mm, with no discernible loss of image quality at Pixel/Pixel. I upgraded from a Lumix S5 and am enjoying the improved autofocus and other features. I haven't had a chance to use the live-streaming feature yet but I look forward to it. I still believe that the S5 series offers the best value on the market for hybrid shooters.The extra money versus the S5II is well worth it for anyone shooting video. The SSD recording alone is worth the money but when you add unlimited 6K, RAW video out, and wireless streaming, it's a no-brainer.But I will say that I HATE the black-out design. It's extremely difficult to see the buttons, even in broad daylight. That combined with better value are why I'm a Panasonic user.Photos included with this review were taken with the Sigma 24-70 DG DN, my workhorse lens.

That was the only reason I didn't buy that camera. I am a Panasonic fan, having the AG-CX350 as my first true camera. When I heard about this camera with the phase detect autofocus system that got me interested. Now, that was not the only thing that got me to seriously consider this camera: the internal fan that prevents overheating was a strong number 2 reason to buy this. I have very long recording sessions and I need to depend on the camera to not overheat no matter what.Now, getting into more technical things, I like 4k60, but this camera has a crop in that mode. I like 4k24 but 4k60 is just better for a lot of things in my opinion. Now, about 4k24, there is a 5.9k 16:9 option to record in that I use every time I want 24p footage. The HDMI out sends 2160p 16:9 out so I have that and also the internal 5.9k footage. There is also an open gate 6k 3:2 mode that I would prefer to record in, internally, but the HDMI out has that 3:2 footage inside a 16:9 container so the sides have pillar boxes. Perhaps they can fix that HDMI out to have a 16:9 crop of the 3:2 image the internal is recording. I hope that can be done. As for still images, I could not be happier with the autofocus, and I use single point for a lot of my images. But the 4k60p footage with the 14-28mm lens I got a bit after I purchased the camera just takes that one tiny worry out of the back of my mind, the crop in 4k60p, and just makes it not exist anymore. If you like 4k60p I would recommend getting that 14-28mm f4-5.6 lens instead of buying an apsc 16mm 1.4 or something from sigma, because you can also use the 14-28 in full frame mode and get some crazy cool wide footage in 5.9k and 6k in 24 and 30p.To sum up my experience with the camera, I could not be happier with everything the camera has to offer and I am extremely happy that panasonic decided to invest in the phase detect autofocus system and I highly recommend this camera for videographers everywhere, especially panasonic fans.

What I am doing with this camera is using it as my A cam with a ninja V on top of it, recording 5888x3312 16:9 23.976p 10 bit 4:2:0 internally while recording on HDMI at the same time with the ninja V at regular UHD 2160p. That is a great thing the camera allows me to do to get extra resolution at the 5.9k setting in 16:9 while also recording externally so I have a backup. Also, I got the 20-60mm kit lens so the 4k60p APS-C crop is not really that bad at the widest on my lens at 20mm which would make it technically 30mm. Also, the 200Mb/s codecs work fine with a 512GB v30 SD card, which I have always been using with my panasonic cameras with this bitrate. I could not be happier, as I was thinking about buying a sony fx30 but this is way better. I am glad I waited for this to come out. I expect panasonic will sell many many of these to people who have been waiting for the perfect price to performance camera like this!

For the first time - all my favourite camera features in one box! Thanks Panasonic :). I am a long time Panny user due to the great stabe and useability (G85, GX80, G9, S5). I worked around the sketchy AF since I am more amateur landscapes than pro weddings. But now, with phase detect -- AF works! The swirling blurry fog of indecision has been banished (from videos....). Now, something, somewhere in your frame will be in focus -- pretty much all the time! The choice to have a 3 second cinematic focus pull is now yours. I shot with a Sony A7c (stabe??) for a year, and in my opinion the S5 M2 AF now looks very similar to that. I am using L-mount sigma f3.5/24mm and f2.0/35mm, and the kit Lumix L 20-60mm. If you really push the AF, and starve the camera of light (low light, or just stopped down) then, yeah, things will go badly - but that is the case for the sony AF too. There are a bunch of other feature refinements which improve S5 performance and useability, and taken together I am very happy with the M2 upgrade. Other users might like to know that the custom settings (CAMSET) from an S5 M1 do not copy over to the S5 M2 (not recognized). So nothing's perfect. The 24MP image sensor is perfect for me, and the camera produces vibrant images with great contrastthat approach the quality of the Leica SL.My slow shooting typically involves using Contax Carl Zeiss manual lenses, along with a few of Leica M lenses.I take my time and use the focus peek assist to zoom in on the subject and capture a great shot.The EVF on the S5 II is excellent and the focus assist works flawlessly.The option to edit and add manual lens information is also an incredible feature that saves me the trouble of having to remember or guess which lens I used.The camera performs exceptionally well in low light conditions and images shot at ISO 6400 look impressive.As the father of four active boys, I have often been disappointed with the autofocus performance of previous cameras.Thankfully, the Panasonic S5 II has an excellent phase detect focus system, allowing me to start using L-mount lenses and capture perfect moments of my boys running and playing.Although I haven't tried the video options yet, according to reviews on YouTube they seem to be outstanding.The flip screen adds a lot of value for self-blogging.Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the Panasonic S5 II performance, particularly considering its reasonable price point.Panasonic has created a perfect system, and I am pleased to have it in my photographic arsenal.
This new S5iiX is perhaps the best value of any camera on the market. The images and color are gorgeous, and color science is excellent. So much so I sold my Canon C70. The S5iiX is much more versatile and useful.Panasonic has outdone themselves in creating a camera that is so convenient to shoot video there's nothing quite like it. All the cinematic tools you need are at your finger tips; tools the other companies that make hybrid cameras refuse to include: wave form, C4k, shutter angle, and much much more, even false color with one of the ten possible LUTS you can store, Plus the Panasonic V-log is wonderful to grade, with a wide variety of LUTs to choose from. They are perhaps the only truly video oriented hybrid camera makers. The GH5 was revolutionary in its time and is still excellent. the S1H was ground breaking, but the S5ii X has knocked it out of the park with the bases loaded.Truly cinematic video features at your fingertips, excellent AF, a wide and growing number of excellent affordable lenses with microscopic focus breathing, state of the art stabilization, making hand held shooting a joy, 15 stops of dynamic range in full frame, NLE editing like butter with Pro Res, easy to grade V-log, tons of buttons that can be easily assigned, and much much more. Thank you Panasonic for making such a fantastic, easy to use camera. You've set the industry standard. Once you shoot with the Panasonic S5ii X, see how easy it is and how special the images out of the camera are you'll be hooked.I only wish I could give the camera and extra star in thanks to Panasonic
