Best microwave we’ve ever had!

Although this microwave has many advanced features, it remains very easy to use and as it is touch controlled, there are no buttons or knobs, which makes it very easy to keep clean with minimal effort. We haven’t used all the advanced features yet, but are very happy with the way we have been using it so far and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a good quality (and sensibly sized!) microwave at a reasonable price and please don’t let the flatbed design put you off, as we feel that one day all microwaves will be built this way and is definitively the way forward. Well done Panasonic for another great product!

Lo and behold when it arrived it was the same model - so Panasonic must also have some say in keeping the same model .I was not given the unit by Panasonic and this is an honest reviewTrusted Panasonic for very many years now and never been let downKeep up the Quality Panasonic

I know some said it doesn't heat up evenly but I think you probably need to consider putting it on for shorter times and then add a minute or two as you go along seemed to work for me. I like that it is easy to clean. It is a lot bigger than you think and when the box arrived I was unsure but happy I got it. The only negative for me is the brightness of the clock which is dark, you can see it fine but I like a slightly brighter light however that does not affect its quality so while I'm being picky about that all other ... MoreI read the reviews and some were negative but I opted for it just the same, only done a couple of things in it with no problem, a can of soup only took 2 minutes on full and it was hot. Higher consumption but much slower to cook than previous m/w

I bought this to replace an old combi microwave that was at least 18 years old and was a lower wattage. I relied on the guidance of the JL advisor in the store to make my choice. I should have read the reviews with low scores instead ....I thought a 'flat bed' would be an improvement on a turntable. I have few requirements of a microwave - warming, defrosting, a small amount of cooking, but I do expect it to be speedier than using a hob.1st use was porridge for 1. Put it on for 2 mins which would have been ample In my old one - after 4 minutes I got bored of waiting ... oats were still raw. Warming baked beans took far longer than time suggested on can. I don't understand the high overall review score for this product.I now have the hassle of getting this back to ... MoreI bought this to replace an old combi microwave that was at least 18 years old and was a lower wattage. Replaces old Panasonic which popped off with a loud pop after 30 plus years of daily use. Did not use grill on previous machine so gone for simple microwave. Expected to be quieter than previous turntable machine but is actually quite noisy and when running sounds remarkably like the old MGB engine on tick over. Would be nicer if it had power settings that matched D and E rating. Prone to condensation so needs drying after every use and/or leaving door open for a while but I like the easy to clean control panel which was also a feature of the previous machine.

Microwave Issue

I am not impressed with Panasonic. I encountered a problem with my product within one month of purchase and having contacted them I was told not to continue using it nearly two weeks ago. Still waiting for a response back from them as to what they propose doing. They say its food on the surface of the internal cabinet, but it's definitely scorch marks on the enamel surface. I sent them a video of it working as there was a feint clicking noise, but they could not hear it, of course not over the sound of the unit working. It needs to be replaced under warranty but its like pulling teeth.

Novel Efficient Microwave

Fancied getting a flatbed microwave as I have used them at work and they were effectiveIt seems inherently more sensible to avoid having a moving (and expensive) glass dish rotating in a square space. Being able to use all the internal space would be much better. The microwave certainly looks smart and sits neatly in the space occupied by our previous microwave, a Panasonic combi microwave that lasted almost 10 years before failing. We never used the combi features so I was not fussed that this is not 'a combi' model. The first thing to note is that the controls are all 'touch' operated on a flat shiny surface. The writing does not show up very well, particularly in a dimly lit area. The writing does not show up very well, particularly in a dimly lit area. I had to fit new, brighter lighting in our utility room to be able to see which 'button' to press and where to press it for evening/night use. This has been noted by others and perhaps they should consider actively lit (LED) 'buttons'. Also the inside light is a feeble effort giving a very dim light - not enough to clearly see what is going on inside (like liquids starting to boil). So much for the negatives. The actual cooking side of it is good. It is a similar power to our previous one but I it has taken a bit of experimentation to find the optimum times for various foods. One great advantage to the large usable space is that I can get 4 takeaway dishes in at once! Again you need to experiment with times and turning the containers halfway but when heating a meal for a family it significantly cut down the slow repetitive heating of 8 containers. One other thing to note, as have others. It does seem to fill with steam much more than the old microwave but I can live with that - just leave the door partially open for a few moments.Overall a modern effective appliance that would benefit from better lighting inside and out.

Review of PANASONIC NN-SF464MBPQ Solo Microwave - Silver
22 February 2024

Its difficult for me to give an accurate review of this microwave as I sold it about a week after purchasing. At 1000w, it was too powerful for my needs. It worked well, and did the job required, but as I only really use a microwave to have a baked potato, or to re-heat something, its capabilities far exceeded my needs. It vibrated too much on the top when I did use it though. Pressing gently on the top stopped the vibrations, but for what I paid for it, I'd have expected it to be built well enough that nothing vibrated when in use. I think I was just too excited by the flat bed and chose to ignore what I would actually use it for. If you defrost things, or cook full meals, or have a large family then its probably quite suitable for you, but not for little old me.

Very Poor Quality

I purchased this model as a replacement for another Panasonic microwave which lasted for over 20 years. Annoyingly this new model is not even 2 months old and will have to be returned as it has already developed a fault. It sometimes makes a buzzing noise and stops and then starts again after a second or two, or it stops completely and I have to start it again. If you are considering buying this model be aware that the controls are difficult to read due to the black background. Also it is hard to see the food whilst it is cooking as the internal light is dim and small in size. The power cable is short compared to my old model so you will need to consider where your power socket is compared to where you will put the microwave. The power cable is short compared to my old model so you will need to consider where your power socket is compared to where you will put the microwave. The display is numerical so you will need to remember which numbers relate to which power level and fresh or frozen food. My old microwave displayed this information in word form and therefore was much easier to use. This model does not have the Auto Sensor feature so you will either need to know the length of cooking time to select, or for example, if you choose the vegetable option you will need to key in the weight of the produce, and if it is fresh or frozen. I tried this once but it cooked the food for far too long. Also the minimum weight option is not low enough if you only want to cook a portion for one person. The microwave will fill with alot of steam. It is very disappointing that the microwave has gone wrong after just a few weeks and I would expect a much much better quality product from Panasonic. I shall probably look to replace with a completely different brand.

I previously had a similar style microwave but unfortunately I was not as active in cleaning out the residual steam moisture from the internal roof of it and over time corrosion occurred. The previous microwave was still working when I disposed of it, but I was conscious the corrosion could get in food I was cooking. On the new one, I like the softness of the button to open the door, my previous model was quite tough. Shame I can't extend the cooking time by an extra minute or so like I could on the other model. But I like Panasonic and their products always live up to expectations, from my perspective.
