I have a ton of gadgets and gizmos in my kitchen. By far this is the most useful and used appliance I have ever bought. I love it.Watch all the YouTube videos and learn from others regarding making pasta. A few things I learned are;1) Weigh your ingredients in grams - the provided plastic cup is not good to use as eggs, water, flour are not the same density or 'line' as described in the instructions,2) Add a little salt and splash of extra virgin olive oil to your wet Ingredients,2) After the dough is kneaded, let it sit for 20 min before proceeding to the extraction process - this helps prevent choppy/dry noodles from being extracted,3) If making egg noodles, use two full eggs and one extra yolk,4) I've been very successful with 200g of AP flour and ... MoreI have a ton of gadgets and gizmos in my kitchen. I got this as a Christmas gift from my son, we share a love of cooking. The machine is well made and produces excellent pasta and noodles. I have made ramen and spaghetti so far. My only criticism is the recipes, I have found better recipes on Pinterest especially when it comes to Asian noodles. I made my second batch of spaghetti using a predominantly semolina flour with bread flour and gluten was vastly different from the Phillips basic recipe. The texture chew and flavour of the semolina recipe was 5 star restaurant quality. The machine is easy to use but I prefer to weigh my ingredients and use a measuring cup to add the liquid the cup provided needs a spout to prevent spilling the egg and water all over the top. I wait until the leftover flour dries in the machine easy cleanup with the brush and a little water don't put in the dishwasher not necessary at all. Enjoy we'll worth buying and fun. Ten min or so fresh pasta or noodles what's not to like!

Wow. We just made Angle hair pasta with our new pasta maker. How simple. Just measured the flour and put in maker, turned on and added the liquid measure. It was that simple. We watched in amazement with the crumbly dough going around and thought it could not possibly work, thinking it too dry. We read the caution to not add water and stuck to the instructions. Within minutes, we were watching pasta being extruded from the maker. That's all there was to it. Simple and quick. I had been concerned about cleanup, but had read it was not a problem if you did it right away. I did it as soon as the noodles were done and it was a breeze. We had done quite a bit of research before making the purchase and it did everything promised. We love it. We had made pasta historically ... MoreWow. So surprised this machine actually works as well as it does for the price! Just follow the instructions and you can’t go wrong. A little fiddly to clean the attachments is about the only slightly negative thing I can say about it. We always do a 1/3 fine semolina flour to the flour mix and a dash of olive oil to the egg mix which gives the pasta a really nice texture. The spaghetti is quite fine more like Angel hair but the penne and other shapes are awesome! I think the pasta machine is one of the best kitchen appliances at a great price. We will never buy dried pasta again! Oh and all the attachments fit neatly into the machine which keeps everything near and tidy. I highly recommend this machine to anyone who loves pasta!
I was lucky enough to get during the mother's day cash back promotion while it was also on special, so all in all an amazing price. We have recently been right into making our own food, particularly staples bread, pasta and noodles - this has been a fantastic way to combat recent inflation and from a health perspective knowing exactly what goes into your food and avoiding preservatives is great. We have been gluten free for 4 years and pasta in this category has improved significantly however it is still quite expensive. The Phillips pasta maker makes it easy to produce great fresh gluten free pasta. We don’t like the recipe that they have in their cook book however you can find great recipes online. We like a simple brown rice flour, xantham gum, egg, water recipe which we found online. If you want fresh pasta I’m sure if it can make great gluten free pasta it can make great regular pasta as well. To top it off it’s fun and easy to use.I definitely recommend this machine.
I never knew how much I could love a kitchen appliance until using this pasta maker. I have little kids and their absolute favorite food is pasta. I don’t know if I will ever purchase pasta from a store again! The pasta maker comes with an easy to follow instruction manual which includes photos for set up and use. I began by washing all of the removable pieces from the pasta maker and then reassembled it. After powering it on, I measured out my flour mixture (I used half semolina and half traditional flour). The machine was able to detect the amount of flour and then indicated to me the amount of fluid to add in. I used the included plastic measuring cup, cracked an egg inside and then filled the remaining amount with water. The machine was able to detect the amount of flour and then indicated to me the amount of fluid to add in. I used the included plastic measuring cup, cracked an egg inside and then filled the remaining amount with water. As if the whole ordeal wasn’t already magical to begin with, after you press start, the machine then starts doing all the hard work and mixes and kneads the dough until it’s the perfect consistently. After that step is completed (only takes a few minutes) it then starts extracting the pasta. The pasta maker includes 8 attachments to make different types of pasta. It also includes an attachment holder that fits into the bottom of the machine for storage purposes. For some reason, it only holds 5 of the attachments though, so you will need to store the less frequently used ones elsewhere. The machine also includes a scraper and small brush/poker, which is specifically designed to be used on the angel hair pasta attachment when cleaning.Clean up was a breeze as well. All the removable pieces are dishwasher safe, but I noticed that the dough did not stick whatsoever to the pieces and it was also very simple to hand wash. The whole process, from start to finish was less than 20 minutes and couldn’t be more easy, even for a beginner like myself. I am looking forward to experimenting with different types of pasta and incorporating some healthier options into my families diet. My only wish was that it provided a bit more information on cooking times, as I had no idea how long to boil the pasta for and just used trial and error to find the best consistently. I definitely recommend this product!
The pasta machine is excellent for spaghetti, but I have found that the Lasagna disc produces a very curled and scrunched up mess, and that's with me trying to hold it carefully as it comes out. This means that I won't be able to use it for ravioli or any other filled pasta. Rather disappointingAdditional discs (shapes) cannot be purchased from the shop where you bought the machine nor from Phillips. You have to go online, usually to a Chinese site where they are quite expensive. The $100 pay back as advertised when I bought the machine has not been forth coming despite me receiving a message from Phillips to say that I had successfully applied. I applied about 2 months ago.My recommendation is yes/no. It depends on what you want to make.
I love this machine and i am very proficient at it now, but the learning curve was unnecessarily too high, i would bet that many users try it a few times and give up and never use it. It is hyper critical that you get the ratio of liquid to flour perfect for it to work trouble free. Your instructions are not good at all. This could be illustrated easily in a quick start card or QR code link, with a video. Stick to one unit of measure. . . . cup, ml, whatever. Your instructions are ambiguous and as someone who made pasta by hand i didn't realize how dry the mixture had to be until i watched some third party videos. You should have your own video that gets you started making a pound of egg pasta perfectly. All that said, I bought a second one for my summer home and i ... MoreI love this machine and i am very proficient at it now, but the learning curve was unnecessarily too high, i would bet that many users try it a few times and give up and never use it. Right out of the box this pasta maker was so easy to use. I've made pasta by hand and using another mixer type machine with pasta tools, but this is far and above much easier and quicker to use. The 10 disks that are included give you so many options on types of pastas and the mixing chamber allows for making various flavors with ease. The built-in scale and liquid identifier really simplifies the process. I am glad that I got the model that had this feature. I like to use eggs and flavor infused olive oils in my mix. It took a little adjusting but I was able to incorporate these into a good mix. Clean up is very easy. The disks are made with a non-stick material that makes cleaning a cinch. I have done it both ways and I suggest sifting for a more consistent mix. Again for some mixes you may have to adjust the liquid a bit but its just a matter of a few ml in my experience.
