I was so excited to get theses short but the waist band is barely elastic at all. I could only pull it up to my thighs easily and then had to struggle or force it to get past my butt. If you have a flat butt and have skinny thighs this will probably be fine. The material is light weight but feels weird (a little crunchy) on my skin - maybe it’ll be better after a wash.It looks nice as shorts but the waist band being barely elastic is a deal breaker. They expect you to use the strings they put in the waist band to tighten the pants which is impractical.Pros: deep pockets, light weight, great lengthCons: lacking proper elasticity of/in waistband; since material has no give, it’s difficult to get past the thighs if you have curves

I was so excited to see the Baggie's Longs as a new length available for women. Alas, the design is very different from my 5" Women's Baggies. The high waist is uncomfortable. The extra material is cumbersome and bulky. First, I ordered two pairs in XS, my normal size, but returned due to size and fit. A few days later I thought, maybe the XXS would work, since I really wanted some longer Baggies. This was not a fix. I again returned both pairs of the XXS. Please, please, please offer some Women's Baggies Longs in the same design as the 5" Women's Baggies, but longer. I'm sure I would buy several pairs.Thank you, as always, in trying to be a socially and environmentally responsible company.

I ordered these in black in a medium in June 2024, and there were slightly big. I exchanged for a small, and they fit perfect! I was so excited and ready to make these my new wardrobe shorts. I waited for other colors I wanted to go on sale and ordered Floral Fun: Vessel Blue and Tidepool Blue in August 2024, each in a small. I ripped the tags off as soon as I got them, assuming they'd fit. They're so much smaller than the black shorts!! I can barely get them over my hips, but once they're on, they fit okay. I thought they'd stretch after a wear or two but have not. I looked at the tags, and my black pair (that fits perfectly) says "made in Indonesia." The other two? LOVE this 80s retro pattern! Perfect for summertime beach vibes. But the shorts are way too short... All of the shorts are. Do not want down to knees unfashionable long shorts, but also cannot wear 3" inseam shorts as they are too short and have to pull them down every step. These are advertised and look like 5" shorts, which would be perfect, but they are not. These are 3" shorts length, with high rise top. Horrible fit. Would have had to downsize a couple sizes, and then would have to pull them down every step. Patagonia and Dicks pls carry a wider range of shorts! Literally need shorts, and out of the whole display wall, there were no mid length shorts. 5" length or shorts hitting thigh mid way, with a cuff a bonus as that helps shorts not ride up. My measurements for in the xs range smack dab in the middle, and since I had tried it on in stores before I figured it’d be great. I got the purple color in the mail and tried it on and was disappointed. They fit very strangely. I will say I wish they were high waisted instead of mid waisted, but I feel that way about most athletic pants, haha. So in all, if you have larger hip measurements than waist measurements , focus the sizing on your hips rather than waist because there is no stretch or give to the hip region.
I’ve had my baggies for a while and overall I’m disappointed. The waist has no elastic and is very hard to get over your hips, even sized up. Once on, you can tighten the waist with the drawstring, but they’re tight in the butt. They need room in the hip and some elastic is the waist. The material is thick but kind of scratches and is loud. The men’s shorts are much softer material, with HUGE pockets and more of them. I hate that the women’s shorts don’t get the same. I have a pair of men’s shorts that I cut the lining out of. I like the material much more but they are not cut for women at all (too tight in the hips). I wish Patagonia would give women the same quality and the same pockets as the men. Please!!
I still wear my women’s baggies from 30+ years ago. I hiked, swam, ran, and raised a family in my bright, outrageously beautiful print baggies. I still have several pairs which are falling apart at the seams but I cannot bear to part with their spectacular geometric, floral, abstract, celestial designs. Thus each pair is lovingly mended ever since my two years living and working in Anchorage. And I also relished wearing each item during my 7 summers working at a wilderness camp in the Adirondacks as my children had an amazing time as campers. I swear by your outdoor gear for every season and everyone!!! With gratitude to the team at Patagonia for bringing such amazing, comfortable, streamlined, fun to wear products into our lives. Bravo!!!

The rise for these shorts is about 4-5” higher than the 5” women’s version, meaning that the shorts sit at or above your navel. The hips are also about 6” wider leaving lots of excess fabric around the thighs.If classic baggies don’t work for you these are a really good option as a high rise short with extra room around the hips and thighs. I’m glad that options are being made for curvier people and these might make the patagonia line a bit more accessible.
