Very comfortable and I love the warmth of cotton. May want to look elsewhere if you're looking for technical (will wet out in rain and no adjustability). Inner cotton lining likely to pill over time but traps warmth well and taffeta sleeve lining are a dream when putting on and taking off the jacket. I got the grayling brown which is surprising light colored despite it being prone to showing dirt. Generously sized hood. Overall, love this jacket just as much as the company ethos!

This is a good down jacket because the cotton outer fabric is much more durable than the lightweight mountaineering down jackets. It isn't very heavy considering how bulky and sturdy it is.However, there are two features that could be a lot better: 1. It should be 1-2 inches longer, so it also keeps your butt warm. 2. A drawstring or something to adjust the width of the waist/hip would be great, as in my case it is too wide and lets in lots of chill. I have narrow hips, so maybe just my issue.Otherwise it's a good jacket.

The jacket is beautiful! But it run small. I normally wear Xs for shirt and tshirt at Patagonia. It have been ok if i only wear a tshirt under but i usually wear two layer under and the Xs was to small. So i orded the small and it fit well. I find the jacket very heavy but not a real problem. I find something awkword, the inside of the hood is cotton linen, so with a bonnet it grip and it is not comfortable!

Love this new jacket! Will be used as a casual jacket that will be so much warmer than some of the other casual Patagonia offerings. Notice the 600 fill right away.I ordered the grayling brown and there are a few noticeable differences from the pictures. The chest logo and zipper pull are the same as the dried mango. I like that patch but I wish the zipper pull was actually red to match the interior of the jacket. All in all I still love the rugged but classic look.I typically buy a large but for this I went bigger and glad I did. Im 5 foot 11 and 195 and the XL fits perfect. Cool patched on the inside of the jacket to celebrate 50 years of success the RIGHT way! Heres to many more!
Overall I enjoy this jacket. I love that it has a 100% cotton shell and lining. I also love the brown and red color combo. Now here are some features I think you should know before buying because the pictures dont show much and its all the things I was wondering before I bought it. The two outsize pockets do not zip but they seem deep enough that things shouldn't fall out. There is only one inside pocket near the chest and it zips. If your a woman size down one size. I personally wear a womens medium for all my tops because I have broader shoulders but I wear a womens small for Patagonia jackets, so I ordered an extra small and it fits perfectly. Confusing, I know. I hope this has helped answer some questions.
For me (183cm/85kg), the jacket in L is overly boxy around the midriff and tight around the shoulders - I can barely do up the zip to the neck. Weird because Patagonia fleeces in M have fit me fine. The sleeves are about right in length so I think it’s my size. It’s not meant to be a technical garment so there’s no way to adjust the waist, as well. So it can sometimes feel a bit draughty.Just a shame because I love everything else about it. It’s really cosy to just chuck on on cold mornings.
I had recently lost weight and my Patagonia parka was a little too big, so I needed a new winter coat. I love everything about this coat. The look is clean and a touch retro, the jacket fits perfectly - I am 6 foot 3 and weight approximately 180 pounds and ordered a large. Sometimes with down jackets the exterior fabric can snag or tear but the cotton shell seems more rugged and durable. The weight is perfect for those cold winter days and I am looking forward to enjoying this coat for years to come. Patagonia nailed it with the item and I highly recommend it. Thanks Patagonia!
Warm, soft and just feels right (tho only nitpicks to inform future improvements maybe). M fits well for a modern take on a classic look (5'8" medium build 170 lbs). Forgotten how well inner cotton linings do to trap warmth w/o overheating and sweating (tho can see the flannel pilling over time). Hood is roomy fits larger heads (tho basic no adjustments). Elastic hem around chin and sleeve cuffs are quality (tho wish lighter color coats had darker hems to minimize dirty look over time). Good arm length (tho shorter arms will find sleeves fold over elastic hems and cotton will wear out). Grayling brown is fantastic (tho much lighter brown than the website shows on most monitors). Simple and good pockets (tho could use an extra deep pocket and snaps/zippers on ... MoreWarm, soft and just feels right (tho only nitpicks to inform future improvements maybe). TLDR: So good and great purchase (little adjustments could prolong life of coat). Patagonia is known for their amazing repair, so no worries I hope!
I’m 6’ and a lean 200lbs. The men’s large should fit me ideally but the body is boxy, shoulders are too narrow, and the arms are slightly too short. When I look at the pictures of the models that are roughly my height I can’t believe their arms fit in a medium. How is that possible????If I wore a medium the sleeves would be half way up my wrists. The jacket seems like it’s a very high quality build and heavy duty while also being heavy weight wise. It’s too bad it’s not designed for people my size/shape. It kind of looked bell shaped on me which is unfortunate because I really wanted a non-plastic winter jacket. My issues aside, If you find a size that fits you well absolutely go for it.
I really like this jacket. It's not too puffy, but significantly warmer than the warmest sweatshirt or lightweight down jacket. It has around 250g of down according to support, so even at 600 fill power you know it will be much warmer than the down sweater.I love that it doesn't use plastic, but admit that makes it less practical to use since cotton is the opposite of waterproof. But, it is perfect for a Patagonia poser like me.I'm 6'2" 170lbs, and medium has a nice slim fit. Note there is no room to layer underneath, but this is the fit I wanted.I wish they made it in white, but I get that white isn't a practical color (and they don't seem to make anything in white).I also wished they used higher fill power down with lower fill weight to reduce jacket weight ... It's not too bright - no complaints about the color. The side pockets have no zipper, but I prefer that for a casual jacket. They are under the down, so they stay cozy as you would expect.A final detail is that the hood does make a bit of noise in your ears compared to a sweatshirt. It isn't as bad as your typical plastic hood, but not ideal (I wear the hood a lot).
