I really like these shorts! The fabric is cool to the touch with a subtle texture, which is great for the heat. But they're also basic enough not to draw too much attention. I'm a medium in some brands and a large in others. I saw the slim fit, so I ordered these in a large, and I'm glad I did for the fit in the legs and seat, but the waist is definitely a touch loose. I bought the Baggies Naturals in a medium at the same time but ordered a medium in those due to the relaxed fit, and I like how they fit, too, in the legs and seat but those are a little tight in the waist.

was excited to receive and try on these shorts. the fabric quality seems high but after two wears doing casual activity to low intensity hiking, a hole formed away from any seams on the seat of the shorts and i'm disappointed something like this happened so fast. the fit is true to size and the sewing is solid, just bummed there's a fabric failure already.

Love the look and function of these shorts, but if I could change one thing, it would be the sizing. I am 6ft 2in and have a 33 inch waist. The medium was way too tight, and I can pull on the large without unbuttoning/unzipping. I ultimately went with the large, but have to use the drawstring to keep them up.

These shorts look great with a t-shirt or casual button up, versatile for multiple different looks on weekend trips.The cotton and hemp blend feels amazing too, very breathable and drys quickly.Slim fit cut, not baggy at all.Like them so much I bought them in 3 different colors.
I got these hoping to take them on a trip to very hot and humid Thailand. I also ordered the slightly shorter button waist version of these for the same reason. I am super happy with the fit and material of these. I would definitely recommend. My waist is a 34" and Medium fit perfect. They also shrunk slightly in length after drying which I was really happy with.
Patagonia is my favorite brand. I was pumped to get these shorts. However, the sizing is a little bizarre. I'm 5 feet 8 inches and 170 pounds, the medium was too tight in the butt and legs. Waist was fine. Sized up and the large was way too big. Not sure who these were intended to fit. Will be purchasing a similar product from Lululemon instead.
I was hoping for a simpler short - more baggies-esque but just in hemp. The button and zip fly hardware is just too much for this short, wish it was just the drawstring and elastic waistband. Also, the past two Patagonia shorts Ive bought, this one and another new one from this year, create MASSIVE pants-tents when sitting down and it is EXTREMELY annoying, theres literally no way to stop it from happening. I would have thought Patagonia would do more field testing and realize this huge and undeniable design flaw before putting these shorts to market. I really wanted to like these but I think theyre going back. Note to Patagonia - keep it simple (why I like you), and do rigorous field testing, please and thank you.
My brother got a pair but ordered the wrong size so he gave them to me. Instantly better than any other shorts Ive ever worn. Bought two more myself. Good for being active, great dad shorts, good for golf, hiking. Wouldnt wear them to run in or work out in but could definitely lift in them. Will never wear another brand, cut, it material again.
I ordered a large in several patagonia shorts, and these were the only ones that were a huge disappointment. I love the elastic waistband, but the crotch was so incredibly long and the shorts themselves so overly wide that I felt I was drowning in them, it looked ridiculous.Even for light wearing around the house, they were massive. I much prefer the new hemp and cotton blend non-volley shorts as they fit well top to bottom, not too big and not too tight.

Mainly because I have encountered too much variation in specific sized pants of any type, not just Patagonia brand. I like these shorts. They are big in the waist on me, but there's a drawstring for that. I hate tight fitting pants, shorts, etc., and I have muscular legs which makes the mediums fine in the waist but a bit too restricting. They are lightweight and basically I do not notice them - which is the key for me - if I notice the clothing it is restricting. The only thing I would change is a little more material where the crotch meets the inseam. I also wear the Baggies Naturals and the Stand Up shorts. The main problem with the Stand Up ...
