Cool to Cold Go-To
I splurged and bought (on my tight budget) my first nano puff jacket in 2013 for a trip to Europe that required a lot of walking/hiking and frequent weather changes. I also wanted to pack light. The nano puff faced down all that a Spring trip to Europe had to offer and exceeded my expectations immediately. I continued to wear this jacket for the next 10 years almost daily from the time of the first cool breeze in Autumn until it became too warm to wear in Spring/Summer. (On rare Nashville, TN, Winter days I would just add the Patagonia fleece vest underneath and have plenty of warmth.) Over the past 10 years, I would have the jacket repaired multiple times from burn holes, snagged seams, and thinning outer - all done quickly and free of charge by Patagonia. It ... It finally just got too threadbare to continue wearing daily in my mid-management, corporatey job . So, I took it in to my local brick-n-mortar, traded it for recycling, and pick up my second ever nano puff. Looking forward to the next 10 years with this one.... Show more

Disappointed
I have had the same Patagonia Down Sweater without a hood since 2008 and I love it! I have had the zipper replaced and one large rip from a parking garage incident covered with tenacious tape. If I am not wearing it, it is always with me; on my backpacking/hiking/camping/travel adventures. I really wanted to get a new one with a hood, so I ordered the down sweater hoody. I didn't think I would have any trouble ordering the jacket on-line and sticking to the size small since the one I have fits so perfectly. I was so disappointed to put it on and find the space between my shoulder and armpit was much too small! The material in my thin t-shirt bunched up in that area and I couldn't move my arms around without it pulling and binding in the armpit. The jacket otherwise ... I went down to our local Patagonia store hoping the cut on this particular jacket was an anomaly. I tried on several different hoodies and several different sizes, I did the same with the down sweater without the hood - they were all cut the same with the tight armpit hole! The new cut/style is simply not functional for me. I was so disappointed! I had to return the jacket. I am a lifelong Patagonia user of many different tops, jackets, shoulder bag and even a pair of hiking shoes! I always enjoy the high quality and durability of my purchases and I like supporting the Patagonia company. I am hoping there is a return to the old style women's cut for the down sweater, I really wanted it to work for me........ Show more

Extremely little water repellent
Great warmth until about 35 degrees Fahrenheit. With a rain jacket over it, it can be warm into the 20s. Over an hour in those temps is easy. Very lacking in the water repellent category. Honestly, it gets soaked about as fast as wearing a blue jean jacket - my wife was wearing a blue jean jacket for comparison. Stays about as warm too. In light rain, for short duration, add a rain jacket. This jacket can’t handle rain at all. After all the hype, I expected more - especially, at $300 after tax. Not worth it.If you want a light, packable, warm jacket that’s made for light wind - great jacket. If you are going to experience any inclement weather (including wind), add a rain jacket. Or… save money by buying a cheaper jacket that performs better (my old Walmart jacket ... MoreGreat warmth until about 35 degrees Fahrenheit. With a rain jacket over it, it can be warm into the 20s. Fits my needs for a lightweight, warm, jacket
Nice, lightweight, packable jacket. Haven’t had a chance to try it in cool weather yet. I bought this as a replacement for a Mountain Hardware Ghost Shadow jacket that I bought several years ago. The Ghost Shadow is a good jacket, but has a major flaw for me - the hood is so loose, any wind in the face will blow it off my head or inflate it like a balloon rendering it useless. The Nano Puff’s hood, while not adjustable, is a smaller cut with elastic around the opening that snugs around my head and provide protection and warmth. The fit and finish of the Nano Puff is very good and is backed up by Patagonia’s lifetime warranty. Mountain Hardware should learn from this, not everyone wears a climbing helmet. Looking forward to cooler weather; maybe then I’ll update this ... MoreNice, lightweight, packable jacket. Haven’t had a chance to try it in cool weather yet. Light, warm, comfortable, beautiful
I love the fit and the warmth and the lightness of my nano puff hoodie - So much warmth in such a light package, easy to carry and so compact. These have been my favorite jacket to wear in cool or cold weather for many years.I liked the old colors better - they were more vibrant and bright and they made me feel happy when I put them on. I had a fire orange jacket that I loved and a Caribbean blue jacket that I loved especially for the colors. I only needed one jacket but I bought both of them because I love the colors so much. When I had a zipper go out Patagonia was wonderful in supporting the lifetime warranty and offering to fix or replace the jacket. I am grateful for Patagonias commitment to the well-being of the planet and all of us.I found a dark blue among the latest color choices that I can live with and I still love the fit and the lightness.... Love This Down Sweater Hoodie
This jacket is lightweight and packable. I bought the Small (I'm 5'2.5", 115lbs) to allow room to layer over a sweater if needed. I live at 9000ft altitude with intense sunlight, strong winds and low humidity most of the year. I'm a new Patagonia fan after receiving my Nano Puff Jacket as a Christmas gift. I use it in temps down to 30 degrees with light wind (<10mph) and low (20-40%) humidity. I have a heavier stadium coat that I've had for years from another maker for bitter cold weather. I was looking for something in between. I had trouble determining which jacket to buy given the descriptions for different parts of the country (humidity levels make a difference). My husband has a Down Sweater Jacket that he really likes and I was trying to duplicate that. I ... MoreThis jacket is lightweight and packable. My husband has a Down Sweater Jacket that he really likes and I was trying to duplicate that. I didn't know the name of my gifted jacket (or his jacket) and I nearly bought another Nano Puff Jacket given the reviews. Thanks to the chat feature, I was able to determine that the Down Sweater Jacket is what I was searching for and would be my mid range jacket for my area. So far, I have worn it in 20+ degree, medium wind (10-20mph), medium (50-60%) humidity weather. It is warm and wind resistant. I love the inside zippered pocket for my phone, the zippered outside pockets and the adjustable cords for tightening the hem to maintain body heat. The hood is adjustable and has a patch of soft fabric on the inside near my chin. So many nice touches to this jacket; I couldn't be more pleased with it. I hope my detailed description helps someone else find just the right jacket.... Show more

one huge and major defect -zero durability
I am writing this review as a warning -not because I dont love this jacket because I do. As someone who rides her bike around San Francisco year round this has been the best jacket I have ever had in that it keeps me warm, is pretty wind proof, is super lightweight. However it has one giant flaw-it has almost no durability. My mom got me one at Nordstrom as a present three years ago. I wore it not even a year and the seams started to get holes with regular wear and tear. They replaced it for me. I thought maybe it was because I was packing the jacket up into the zipper as shown so I decided not to do that. Another year later it started to happen again on a brand new jacket. It was the pandemic so I stalled doing anything about it so now the jacket is two years old ... MoreI am writing this review as a warning -not because I dont love this jacket because I do. I thought maybe it was because I was packing the jacket up into the zipper as shown so I decided not to do that. Another year later it started to happen again on a brand new jacket. It was the pandemic so I stalled doing anything about it so now the jacket is two years old and practically unwearable -the seams on both sleeves have holes up and down with tufts of feathers coming out. It is an embarrassment to wear it plus Im shedding all the feathers. This jacket is almost $300 it shouldnt literally fall apart at the seams after two years of use. Im devastated because I love it so much -now I have to try to get it replaced again. Or I can take it to Patagonia where they will send it in for a return and give me a credit after two weeks (what am I supposed to do for two weeks in SF without a jacket?) or I could wait 19 weeks to see if they can repair it which I dont think they can. And as much as I love it at this point Im really reluctant to get another one because I have no idea if they have actually fixed the fabric problem and if they havent it means Im going to be going through this again next year. So yes it is great because its lightweight and perfect warmth for a city like SF and a good fit love the hood etc. however its super upsetting that its falling apart. I expect more at this price point. I had a much less expensive jacket from a different company very similar before this one that never fell apart at the seams after six years of wear. I have a neighbor with the similar jacket who told me his is ten years old and has never done that. I have another friend who got one around the same time as mine and she has had the exact same problem.I think its important to let others know because the jacket is an investment for a lot of people and even if Patagonia stands by their products it isnt hassle free.... Its a great layering piece which makes it a great every day jacket. When stationary, the jacket itself isnt too warm, its kind of like an insulated and breathable wind jacket, but thats good, as if you want more warmth, layer it with a fleece base layer. Its also what makes this a great hiking jacket, as its breathable, light weight, and when hiking or active a lighter jacket is desirable, and this maintains body heat effectively. Build quality wasnt as high as I would have hoped, but still great. The cuffs are starting to fray from wearing watches, and there are more than expected loose threading or insulation, nothing noticeable to others, but something I wouldnt expect. Would like to see a new cuffing material, and maybe a stronger threading, and potentially a different type of insulation, like wool, or a synthetic less likely to leave the fabric, even at the cost of some weight for the more casual hiker. Am in Northern California where costal winds often get above 20, and this is a very effective jacket in those conditions, especially with the hood. Pairs great with the R1 hoodie. Would recommend, as I havent found something comparable. I bought another puffy that was warmer, but rarely use it because it doesn't layer as well. The nano puff layers amazingly, because it can easily have multiple base layers underneath, or use as a mid layer when in really cold situations. Works great as the only layer two with a tee when in the upper 50s.... Show more

The Best Everything Jacket Patagonia Makes
A lot of Patagonia jackets have been redesigned for bigger people and don't fit as trimly as is required for more active use. This jacket fortunately has retained its original fit and thus function with proper length and girth of sleeves that do not get caught up in ropes or chainsaws, the jacket wears well as an outer layer and layers underneath other jackets without bulging or binding. I have an old version that is patched and sewn after more than 10 years of wear and I still use it because it still works. I was hesitant in fact to get a new one, because I figured Patagonia had redesigned this garment like others I used to rely on, but fortunately not. The new one is perhaps slightly more puffy but that could be because my old one is flattened from age. But if you ... Wanted to love the jacket
Overall I was excited to get this jacket. I run pretty warm and have been looking for a light windproof jacket that I could wear daily during the winter. Overall it met my expectations of being light and warm enough to not have me freezing in the winter. However I feel like Ive found negatives to this jacket that sadly ruin the overall expectation for me. Ive only had the jacket for a month and there has been visible treads coming undone near the waist, cuffs/forearms, and shoulders. Im not being hard on the jacket, and I would consider the one thing that might be seen as hard on the jacket is wearing a backpack every now and then. I know the jacket isnt indestructible, but still I haven't owned it long. I have also seen heavy staining on the inside and now the ... MoreOverall I was excited to get this jacket. I know the jacket isnt indestructible, but still I haven't owned it long. I have also seen heavy staining on the inside and now the outside in the armpit areas from sweating. Overall I just didnt expect these issues to start occurring until years of wearing the jacket. Not just 3-4 weeks. If you are looking to absolutely buy one I would only recommend getting a black one. You wont see stains that easily this way, and the stitching coming undone wont be terribly visible either potentially. As my jacket color and thread color are 2 different colors. For the price I just don't feel like the jacket will last through normal wear and tear as time goes on.... Show more
