Our Nano Puff Hoody handily manages all the chilly belays and nighttime rope-pulling sessions that a climber can throw at it. It excels as a sleek micro-belay parka and doubles as an insulated jacket on quick alpine dashes. A simple, elasticized hood opening adds thermostat-like warmth, and the low-bulk, hydrophobic, highly compressible 60-g PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco—with 55% postconsumer recycled content—traps heat with remarkable efficiency, even when wet. The wind-blocking, moisture-shedding 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish glides effortlessly in your layering system, and a soft, wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage add chin comfort. The hoody stuffs into an internal, zippered chest pocket that has a carabiner clip-in loop. It also has two zippered handwarmer pockets, elasticized cuffs and a dual-adjust drawcord hem to seal out wind and seal in warmth.

Great Patagonia jacket. I love the comments from other people. The classic navy color is beautiful. There are a few sizing quirks however. For size medium, the neck and hood
area seem to be extremely tight and fitted when compared to the body of the jacket. If you have a very large or muscular neck, you will almost feel like you're choking when
it's zipped up and the hood is on. I understand that a fitted hood is likely the styling aesthetic for this jacket. However, it seems a bit extreme. I think they could loosen up the
neck and hood just slightly for the next variation.

It finally just got too threadbare to continue wearing daily in my mid-management, corporatey job . So, I took it in to my local brick-n-mortar, traded it for recycling, and pick up my second ever nano puff. Looking forward to the next 10 years with this one.... Show more

Extremely little water repellent
27 April 2023
Great warmth until about 35 degrees Fahrenheit. With a rain jacket over it, it can be warm into the 20s. Over an hour in those temps is easy. Very lacking in the water repellent category. Honestly, it gets soaked about as fast as wearing a blue jean jacket - my wife was wearing a blue jean jacket for comparison. Stays about as warm too. In light rain, for short duration, add a rain jacket. This jacket can’t handle rain at all. After all the hype, I expected more - especially, at $300 after tax. Not worth it.If you want a light, packable, warm jacket that’s made for light wind - great jacket. If you are going to experience any inclement weather (including wind), add a rain jacket. Light Weight but Very Warm

I was hesitant at first to go with a nano puff jacket as I read reviews that they run a bit large and they are priced considerably higher than other puffs but let me tell you that its worth every penny. While the jacket does run a bit large, you tend to forget about it when you wear it when the temps drop. The cinch cord at the hem helps keep the cold air out and the hood provides great warmth and articulation for your head. When all said and done, it packs down into a small cube that you can easily store away. This is easily my go to travel jacket and will be bringing this on every cold weather trip. One more thing, the company put forth a great message, not one where they just mention some stuff for great press but rather they are doing something about it. Poor Quality - Lackluster Appearance
12 November 2022
Stitching began to unravel and fray after less than 5 months of normal (city) usage. This is NOT what I expect from REI, let alone Patagonia. REI refused to do anything about the stitching, so I'm stuck with this thing. Despite being disappointed by the appearance and washed out look of all the colors this was available in, I bought it because I thought "Well, it's got to be good quality - it's Patagonia, and if something happens, this is REI, so I can bring it back." WRONG on both counts. REI is drifting away from its decades long policy of replacing items, making the circumstances for replacement VERY stringent now. It's sad to see this, and is making me consider taking my business elsewhere.... Show more

Its a great layering piece which makes it a great every day jacket. When stationary, the jacket itself isnt too warm, its kind of like an insulated and breathable wind jacket, but thats good, as if you want more warmth, layer it with a fleece base layer. Its also what makes this a great hiking jacket, as its breathable, light weight, and when hiking or active a lighter jacket is desirable, and this maintains body heat effectively. Build quality wasnt as high as I would have hoped, but still great. The cuffs are starting to fray from wearing watches, and there are more than expected loose threading or insulation, nothing noticeable to others, but something I wouldnt expect. Would like to see a new cuffing material, and maybe a stronger threading, and potentially a different type of insulation, like wool, or a synthetic less likely to leave the fabric, even at the cost of some weight for the more casual hiker. Am in Northern California where costal winds often get above 20, and this is a very effective jacket in those conditions, especially with the hood. Pairs great with the R1 hoodie. Would recommend, as I havent found something comparable. I bought another puffy that was warmer, but rarely use it because it doesn't layer as well. The nano puff layers amazingly, because it can easily have multiple base layers underneath, or use as a mid layer when in really cold situations. Works great as the only layer two with a tee when in the upper 50s.... Show more

Slightly disappointed after within a month.
8 November 2022
tl;dr I'm slightly disappointed after 1 month of normal wearing. The good:1. It is extremely lightweight and packable yet warm enough for me in the 0-15 celcius range with only a base layer under it.2. It fits me well. I really like the hoodie. The bad:1. The insulation began to come out after 2 weeks, especially where my backpack sits on my back, there are lots of insulating stuff coming out around that area. I began to worry if it will survive more than a winter. I'm expecting some insulating stuff to come out which I think is normal. But not so much and so quick.2. There is one stitch around my left forearm that came loose after 3 weeks.3. This jacket is in the 300+ range, so I do not expect such problems within a month. The good:... Show more

The Best Everything Jacket Patagonia Makes
2 April 2023
A lot of Patagonia jackets have been redesigned for bigger people and don't fit as trimly as is required for more active use. This jacket fortunately has retained its original fit and thus function with proper length and girth of sleeves that do not get caught up in ropes or chainsaws, the jacket wears well as an outer layer and layers underneath other jackets without bulging or binding. I have an old version that is patched and sewn after more than 10 years of wear and I still use it because it still works. I was hesitant in fact to get a new one, because I figured Patagonia had redesigned this garment like others I used to rely on, but fortunately not. The new one is perhaps slightly more puffy but that could be because my old one is flattened from age. Wanted to love the jacket
3 March 2023
Overall I was excited to get this jacket. I run pretty warm and have been looking for a light windproof jacket that I could wear daily during the winter. Overall it met my expectations of being light and warm enough to not have me freezing in the winter. However I feel like Ive found negatives to this jacket that sadly ruin the overall expectation for me. Ive only had the jacket for a month and there has been visible treads coming undone near the waist, cuffs/forearms, and shoulders. Im not being hard on the jacket, and I would consider the one thing that might be seen as hard on the jacket is wearing a backpack every now and then. I know the jacket isnt indestructible, but still I haven't owned it long. I have also seen heavy staining on the inside and now the ... MoreOverall I was excited to get this jacket. I know the jacket isnt indestructible, but still I haven't owned it long. I have also seen heavy staining on the inside and now the outside in the armpit areas from sweating. Overall I just didnt expect these issues to start occurring until years of wearing the jacket. Not just 3-4 weeks. If you are looking to absolutely buy one I would only recommend getting a black one. You wont see stains that easily this way, and the stitching coming undone wont be terribly visible either potentially. As my jacket color and thread color are 2 different colors. For the price I just don't feel like the jacket will last through normal wear and tear as time goes on.... Show more
