A little large

I'm a large framed, 6'4" thats spent a lot of time in N. MN winters. I have also spent a lot of time going between large and extra large apparels . This jacket is definitely an extra large. Its a good jacket if you plan on putting a lot of other layers on underneath. It would be good for something sedentary, maybe like ice fishing. Also the snow skirt on the inside isn't cinchable. Its a great jacket otherwise.

Durable and long lasting

I was considering getting another jacket since it will be my fourth season wearing this jacket with an average of 35 days per winter. This jacket is durable and long lasting. The only thing I recommend is waterproofing it a few times per season in the washer and dryer with DWR coating. The jacket is still warm and shows little signs of wear and tear. I have the snowshot pants as well with similar results.

Fantastic Shell, will keep you warm and dry

This is an amazing shell. Have worn it skiing in very wet conditions and very cold conditions. The jacket performed superb in a wet/snowy (everything was soaked) day and kept my upper body dry with no soak-thru. Dries out quickly as well. Layered base layer and fleece, was warm in the low teens. With proper layering this shell can do it all. I am thoroughly impressed with this shell. Highly recommended. 5' 10", 160lb, size Small fit great with room to layer without being bulky or tight.

Function > form

Functionally, this thing is great. Lots of bells and whistles, very adaptable to conditions. The jacket is a bit oversized—6’4 220, got an xl but that was comically big. Size L is still big but works when layering.Biggest gripe is the fact that it will pick up and show every single thing that touches it. Coffee, post session redbull, lord knows whatever else. I have tried dish soap, oxiclean, vinegar… no dice. Still collects spot stains. Likely color specific here (tan) but kind of a bummer.

Good affordable jacket with premium features
9 January 2024

Really liked this jacket for its feature set - beefy snow skirt, lots of pockets with variety, fleece lined hand warmer pockets, and a good fit for layering without being too large.Face fabric is the non-Goretex Patagonia stuff, but still feels nice and tough. Front zipper is prone to the wavy zipper effect, but not too much of an issue other than looks there. The interior is partially lined with a mesh backer that gives the jacket a nice weight and seems to add a small amount of warmth.Stylish and great for a more casual, entry level piece.

Great Jacket
31 January 2024

I recently purchased this jacket to replace a warranty return on an Eddie Bauer down jacket. That was a great jacket but the zipper blew out after a year and a half or so. Great jacket but very happy they stood behind their warranty. I used the return amount to purchase this jacket to be used as an all around winter jacket and midwest downhill ski jacket. I can't speak to the longevity since I haven't had it that long, although the build quality with Patagonia is always amazing (this seems no different). I typically wear a Patagonia L in their jackets and ordered the same. Seems to fit perfect with a little more room than I'm used to with their products. I'm 6'2" and 190 pounds so relatively skinny. The zippers are all high quality and the outer fabric seems very tough. I have no doubt it will last and have never had an issue with Patagonia repairing anything that's broken. I still have other gear from them thats over 5 years old and going strong. The insulation seems sufficient with extra in the arms and less in the body. Temp can also be regulated through pit zips. My only request (and this is minor) is that they add another snap layer for the powder skirt. I'm pretty skinny with a size 34 waist and would love to be able to tighten up the skirt in heavier powder. Otherwise this jacket is perfect as is with great wind and rain protection as well.

I started buying Patagonia before it became so style-conscious
30 October 2023

I bought this Powder Town thing hoping to replace a well-worn Patagonia hard shell that I've had for over 25 years (it's still serviceable but looks a bit rough for in-town use). This new shell is trendy in that it lacks most of the pockets of the old shell and is cut MUCH slimmer -- I like to layer the shell with a down vest and this 2023 shell will just about do that (but only because the 2022 vest is cut slimmer, too!)The shell doesn't have a two-way front zip so wearing it while driving will be a pain. And the sleeves are about an inch too long for me which, with the spacing of the velcro fasteners, means that I'll have to fuss with adjusting the velcro every time I put the shell on.IMO the main zipper is not sturdy enough (it's quite fine and the water-proof ... MoreI bought this Powder Town thing hoping to replace a well-worn Patagonia hard shell that I've had for over 25 years (it's still serviceable but looks a bit rough for in-town use). This is a complaint I have about many of the Patagonia items I own -- the main zips are often too fine and, over a few years, become unusable. As I said at the top, I was hoping to replace an old hard shell with this purchase. I'm not certain that I've succeeded and this Powder Town shell may be heading back to Patagonia -- for the price I fear that it has too many issues (especially the sleeve length and puny, one-way zipper) that will annoy me every time I wear it.

Odd sizing
8 February 2024

I'm 6'2, 200 lbs and wear a Large in Patagonia. This jacket fits like an XL, it's baggy and long, and the sleeves are baggy and comically long, like 3-4 inches too long. I actually double checked the tags because it felt like they'd sent me the wrong size.Outside the the sizing, this is probably a great midweight jacket with the quality you'd expect from Patagonia, and the blue color is 🔥

Really good ski jacket
7 March 2023

Before this jacket, I had really only used mountaineering style hard shells for skiing, because they are so weatherproof. I am impressed with this jacket and the powder town pants as well. They are lightweight but still hold back all the mountain weather very well, which also allows for a very nice effortlessness in movement that I really appreciate when Im skiing. The features, zippers, pocket layout, and all the other details are very well designed. The fit seems large but I appreciate that as well because I am able to layer anything underneath, including very full loft, large down layers. Cant say enough good things about the powder town line.

Very Disappointed
2 January 2024

I was very disappointed in the look and feel of this jacket. This is not a ski jacket. It looks and feels like a rain jacket at best. There is no insulation, and the fabric is very light and thin. I have owned ski shells / jackets in the past that typically have much more ridged and thick material and provide better protection from cold temperatures. Unfortunately, the product description is not accurate.
