Black color faded so fast

Bought a light tan one of these years ago and became one of my favorite hats. They unfortunately dont sell that color anymore and after years of use out backpacking and it had weathered and needed a new one. I bought a black one and again was my favorite hat…for a couple months. After washing it and using it on a few trips, it turned a really weird orangish-brownish-black. Super disappointing. šŸ˜”

Me and my partner bought the same colour and loved them until both of them discoloured after couple of months. I thought it was my partner’s sweat that was causing it but mine discoloured as well when I only wore them for casual wear and did not sweat in them.Love the design and that it’s lightweightw but material isn’t durable.

Do I own a $400 puffy? No. Do I own a $39 hat? Yes. I bought this to look like a ā€œPatagonia Dadā€ without having to fully commit. It’s fairly light although not considered ā€œbreathable materialā€, fits great, perfectly bent brim, and I can blend in with everyone at the breweries in Bend OR. I will be adventuring hard in this hat over the summer and hopefully be taking it on several backpacking trips. I went to a Patagonia store and they didn’t even have this hat there, REI is where it’s at 10/10 would recommend you buy this hat from them if you want your social media profile pic to make you look like you live ā€œvanlifeā€ or like you downhill ski or whatever. Anyways go buy this hat ya Patagonia clones!

Great fit and lovely color scheme

I usually don't wear hats but love this one! Relatively square jawline which makes me hate wearing hats but this one is cute, comfy, practical. Use to block out sunlight in the Texas heat. Machine is washed once so far without any issues. Taking on a hiking trip. Received plenty of compliments on it already.

Great!.. until it isnt.

Love the hat and fit. Looks good, feels good. Im on my second one and Im tempted to get a third but I dont believe they have fixed my two biggest problems with this product. I have to tighten it once a day or just wear it loose. It seems like the adjustment is always pulling out whenever you move through a normal day. Secondly the fading. This is my second version of this hat that I wear daily but they don't last six month before the sun bleaches them (black hat) to a brown/ orange color.

Love it but fades so fast!!!
4 May 2023

So here's my honest take on this. I bought this product about 5 months ago. I was obsessed with the fit of the hat since day one! It fit amazing and it looked so great that it became my favorite hat of them ALL (trust me I have so many hats from all brands and styles) but the fit and the simplicity of this one just captivated me. Look, I almost lost it at Shenandoah Nat'l Park and had to go back to the trail towards the peak of a mountain when it was already getting dark. That is how much I loved it!It has been with me through all those good adventures, hikes, weather. The sad and bad part of this is that it cannot endure the sun. I would get it if it just had sweat stains that can be cleaned but this hat literally started to get sunbleached and turn orange-y. It ...Ā MoreSo here's my honest take on this. It looks quite horrible nothing like the beginning, not even black anymore. Nothing to do about that and it sucks. It didn't even last 6 months, even though I love it and would love to wear it everyday it just looks bad. I don't get it because I love Patagonia and I always swear by their quality but this is not a quality hat, and not for what we are paying for it.

Love the low-profile traditional cap!
14 January 2023

LOVE this cap! It's traditional, old school hardcore and total quality. No bs that we get these days with crazy tends! I purchased the cap in Wavy Blue. The website doesn't do any justice to the color combination, until you actually see the cap in those colors. If you're beyond subdued colors and see this cap, it's awesome! I love it so much I purchased two of these same color caps.

Mixed feelings (Faded/Staining quickly)
15 October 2023

I bought a tan hat long ago and it quickly became my favorite hat. I wore it for EVERYTHING from climbing to backpacking, gym workouts, and just casual use. It eventually frayed at the bill after a couple years of use and now its more of a gym hat with the staining. Its accrued. Overall happy with the use Ive gotten out of it. I was sad to see they dont offer that same light tan anymore.I decided to snag a black one last year and found the same fit. However after about 6 months of cycling it in with my other hats for casual and gym use, the black hat faded and looks more like its stained brownish orange. Its really disappointing because I still like using the tan one for the gym as its held its look (it just looks a little beat up is all) but the black hat just ...Ā MoreI bought a tan hat long ago and it quickly became my favorite hat. I keep wanting to snag another but i dont want to waste money on another hat that will end up just sitting there only to end up in the trash. I love running my gear into the ground but if it cant hold the color I bought it for then I just wont end up wearing it.Im not sure if they switched to a different dying procedure from the batch I had originally bought but the ones I see now Im scared to buy and i hear other reviews mentioning the same type of quality concerns. I may try one again in a few years but for now im on the hunt for another hat.

Nice hat, my wife hates the pattern though.
30 August 2024

I purchased this hat for myself. Its sort of a ugly / cool pattern. I like it, but not for everyone or everyday use! This style of hat is good, but wish Patagonia offered the more ā€œcampā€ style hat, more lightweight, nylon… that would be perfect!

The P-6 Trad caps are comfortable to wear
15 August 2023

I like unstructured caps. I have 3 of these P-6 Trad caps and they are very comfortable. The only thing I, myself, would like is a more curved peak or bill. They are a bit flatter across the front to what I am used to. Only a small thing but for me a more curved peak would be good. I like the closure at the back because it’s sturdy and does not come undone. I do recommend the P-6 Trads, but for me personally I would like to see more curve across the front peak.
