I am very happy with this purchase. The fabric of the jacket is the kind of feel Ive been searching for in a jacket for years. I am so pleased I took the leap to get this jacket. I wanted a jacket big enough to look good but also be able to zipper with a sweatshirt underneath. I am normally a large, but to accomplish this, I bought an XL and it fits just the way I like. The sleeves are naturally a bit too long because of how I got a bigger size than I normally am, and my arms are short. But I rolled them once and they are fine. I may choose to get the sleeves altered down the road since this is the type of jacket I will own for a long time. I cant say enough about the silky smooth feel on this jacket. I am 5 feet tall, 175 pounds and Large would have fit me normally but XL fit for the bulkier feel / look that I was going for.

I am obsessed with this jacket. I purchased it from another retailer about a year ago when Patagonia was sold out in my size and color, but just as easily would have purchased directly from Patagonia. I was hunting for a down jacket that checked all of my boxes:1. Super warm and comfy2. Flattering fit (so any down jackets just don't look cute, call me vain)3. Had a hood (detachable or not did not matter to me)4. Sustainable production/materials of the jacket itself5. From a company with values aligned with mineI saw a friend wearing one of these while I was hunting for a jacket, and I immediately fell in love. I fell even more in love with this jacket when I discovered that it checked every one of my boxes! The princess seams make this super puffy jacket still incredibly flattering, and when I am wearing it I never want to take it off. It is so warm and cozy, keeping me from getting cold in temperatures well below freezing (I live in Alaska and have worn this jacket for dog walks in sub-zero temperatures with layers underneath and have stayed very warm). The hood is generously sized yet does not swallow my head when I put it up. The pockets are warm for my hands, making cold dog walks a lot easier so I do not have to wear gloves on one of my hands (helps me use the poop bags much easier). Most importantly, this jacket that is perfectly designed also is made with recycled and responsibly sourced materials, just like most of Patagonia's products. Patagonia is a company I will continue to purchase from because of their emphasis on environmental and social responsibility. I will even get the parka length version of this jacket someday when my current parka wears out/no longer serves me!For size references: I am a woman, 5'6", 180 lbs, curvy/athletic build, usually wear a size large in Patagonia tops, size 10 in most pants. This jacket fits me perfectly with just a t-shirt under it, or even still fits with a mid-weight layer like a Patagonia fleece or a hoodie without feeling super bulky/snug.

Went to REI locally and found this jacket. I purchased the small size and honestly it feels like it runs big to me I do wish there was an Xs I could have tried. I do have a slimmer top half and carry weight in my bit and thighs. This has turned into my favoritejacket due to its versatility. I wear it to work daily and it looks professional, I wear it to my sons hockey games all over the state and trust me some rinks are well below 0. My daughter steals this coat daily and I actually have been shopping to get her one but I’m not sure the xs is small enough since she is 5’ and 100 lbs. I walk my dog and take her to potty wearing this and even travel within the state. The jacket compresses to a small size. I purchased the Down With It jacket in Hemlock Green because I was looking for something with a little more tailored/feminine fit than the Down Sweater Hoody I've been wearing for the past few years. I still have the Down Sweater Hoody, and I'll keep both jackets for different purposes; while the Down With It jacket is very lightweight and comfortable, it has more volume and is just by nature bulkier than the Down Sweater, which is more "packable" and which I would also feel more comfortable taking on adventures where it could get dirty or banged up. The Down With It jacket could easily be dressed up and worn out almost anywhere. It will be my everyday go-anywhere coat for the next several winters.Fit on the Down With It jacket is exactly what I'd hoped for; more ... MoreI purchased the Down With It jacket in Hemlock Green because I was looking for something with a little more tailored/feminine fit than the Down Sweater Hoody I've been wearing for the past few years. The Down With It jacket could easily be dressed up and worn out almost anywhere. It will be my everyday go-anywhere coat for the next several winters.Fit on the Down With It jacket is exactly what I'd hoped for; more tailored and effeminate (although not overly so), with full coverage to the tops of my thighs in the front and back, which I was pleasantly surprised about. It's a bit narrow in the hips, but I have bigger hips and thighs in general, plus I'm carrying more weight than usual. Otherwise the jacket has plenty of room for layering (I'm typically a small or medium in regular tops, always order medium in Patagonia jackets/pullovers to allow room) and is TTS. So far we haven't had many terribly cold days, but I've worn it in temps between 28 and 60 degrees, and it has been comfortable throughout the entire range (obviously you don't want to wear it for too long in the 60s, though - it's definitely made for colder weather!).Long story short, it's exactly what I was looking for, and it was made even better by the fact I only had to pay for shipping because I traded in a bunch of my old stuff to Worn Wear and got enough credit to cover the cost of this great jacket. Highly recommend!
I am an always-cold person who lives in upstate New York, where the temperatures frequently drop below zero every winter. I have been looking for my ideal winter coat for years, but could never find one that had all of the features that I wanted (stylish, super warm, at least knee length, hooded, and with zip pockets). I am so happy that I found this parka because it is everything that I wanted and more. I have worn it outside in temperatures as low as 0 degrees F, and it has kept me cozy and warmyet, I dont overheat when I wear it inside. It is soft, lightweight for its warmth, and comfortable to wear.I am 50, and the parka hits just below my knees. The double-sided zipper and side snaps help me to move and sit comfortably if I need them, but most of the time I am able to sit down comfortably without unzipping or unsnapping anything.I wear a size small in almost everything, and I bought this coat in a small. I think that its the perfect fit. With most of my clothes, I still have plenty of room inside. Its a little tighter when I layer with thick sweaters, but not unbearable. Im glad I didnt size up.One of the main reasons that I bought this coat was the reclaimed down and recycled polyester shell. I have always bought synthetic outerwear due to concerns about the welfare of the ducks and geese, and I love that this isnt a concern with this coat. There are also so many features about this that I think are greatthe adjustable/removable hood, the roomy zippered pockets that really do keep my hands warm, and how I can zip the coat up over most of my face if its really cold and windy.I cant say enough good things about this coat!
I own, 1 Patagonia "down with it", I own one colubia long coat, and multiple coats in-between. This Patagonia is by far my favorite and warmest coat I have ever purchased. I always think prices on Patagonia are steep but this coat was more than worth it. It's extremely warm, I live in Minnesota and on the winter it gets to ne negative numbers here and I were this coat most of the winter. My columbia isn't warm at all I use it on thr warmer days where I don't need as much extra insulation. This coat is durable, I've never had a problem with it tearing or getting marked up in the 3 years I've owned it. I have a bronze one I bought 3 years ago and I just purchased another. The only thing I dislike is the bottom buttons. I have owned probably 50 Patagonia jackets it the past twenty years, in every style and type. I am 5 foot 7 ,body = athletic / trim (with some curves) and I sometimes find their large generally a bit too constrictive, so I gambled on the XL (online order,I could not try it on)GLAD I sized up! A large is probably my proper size as this is probably5% - 10% too big for me, exactly what I wanted. The trim princess cut on the torso gives this parka a lovely shape, the sleeves are hanging a little over my hands ~ just like I like in a winter coat while walking my dogs, my arms extended holding their leashes. The low side buttons (just above the knees) are genius for comforts while sitting down. But truly, the only reason I even purchased a down coat at all was the ... MoreI have owned probably 50 Patagonia jackets it the past twenty years, in every style and type. At least this product reduces the manufacturing need for more down.Win win, for me glad I sized up to a black XL.
I've been wanting a new parka to replace my old one which happened to be Calvin Klein but extremely warm but is now dated. I have a couple Patagonia pullovers and absolutely love them because they are so warm. I decided to go with the down with it parka and Navy Blue is my favorite color so thats what I chose. The coat is beautiful in Navy!! I went back and forth deciding on a size. It was between Sm and Med. I am 5 ft 6in and 134 lbs with an athletic build. I ordered Medium after reading hundreds of reviews and I believe it was the right choice. I usually wear layers underneath and I think the small would have been too tight across the shoulders with a sweatshirt or sweater underneath. I bought this coat based on a recommendation from my sister-in-law. I was shocked by how warm, cozy and flattering it was! It truly combines all my wishes for a warm, nice fitting, ethically made and affordable coat. I had to part with my 7-year-old Tres Parka after outgrowing it, and haven't been able to find a substitute that fits me well (I fall between a Patagonia S and M) until now. I have gotten so much use out of this coat in the recent weeks and can also say that it provides decent protection from wind and the collar buttons up for ultimate warmth. If I could make one suggestion for improvement, it would be to make the hip pockets slightly larger. Other than that it is true perfection. For reference I have larger shoulders/smaller waist/wider hips, 64 inches ... MoreI bought this coat based on a recommendation from my sister-in-law. At long last a jacket made for those of us with large hips! Thank you Patagonia! I've had to purchase Men's XL jackets in the past so that they would go around my derriere. This is made for women and is amply sized. I just love it. My favorite part is the soft fleecy lining around the neck. When out in the cold and I zip up the collar it is so soft and nice around my neck. I give this only 4 stars because here are my complaints about this great jacket: 1. The sleeves are too long for me. 2. I wish there was an elastic cuff in the sleeves to keep them in place and to prevent cold air from going up the sleeves. 3. I wish it had a two-way zipper so that I could wear it zipped up while sitting and simply open the zipper at the bottom edge. It is softer and more durable than the flimsy ripstop nylon in other jackets. Since the fabric is made of recycled materials, that makes it even better in my eyes. The hem is tapered and is beautifully long in the back. It hits me mid-thigh. I love that the hood can be snugged up to fit around my face. The stitching style is slenderizing, and I need all the help I can get! This is so warm and cozy. I love this jacket!
