Absolutely love this jacket

I didn’t expect it, but I love this jacket even more than my nano puff. The micro puff is so much lighter, loftier, warmer, slightly bigger than the nano puff which is already the most outstanding jacket. I don’t miss the concealed zippered chest pocket the nano off has as the hand pockets are large and zippered if you need to store keys/passport, etc. The neck is softer and less “structured” than the nano puff making it comfortable to layer over or under other clothes. The zippers are neatly sewn with wind guards somehow fancier than the nano puff. It’s also slightly roomier than the nano puff in the same size, but not roomy enough to wish I had gone down a size. Just meant I could fit extra layers underneath with greater comfort and the pull tie at the hips is perfect if you do find it slightly roomy. Length is also perfect. Long enough to cover the top of your pants, but not too long you struggle with the zipper when seated like with longer coats. I typically go for black in these type of garments that I buy to last me for years, but I’m so glad I went with the red colour. It’s darker and “moodier” than I was expecting, which I love. A perfect colour for winter to team with my usually all black snow gear. So thrilled with this jacket. I’m looking to buy the hoody in another colour next season, because it’s just that outstanding and so warm and comfortable. You won’t regret buying this jacket.

I think the hoody version of MIcro Puff keeps the collar pulled back if you have it halfway zipped so it is not a problem. You can even see in the product video that the top of the collar hits right under the chin. I suppose it is a tradeoff because it might be great if it is snowing. Unfortunately, though, the collar is not soft as there is some stiff trim running up the the top. So, just be sure you really like that collar before you commit to it.

This jacket is super light to wear and pack but very warm for its weight. As stated in previous reviews, unless you are tall and narrow, the longer length is snug over the hips when zippered. I am between sizes S/M and might try the Medium if they weren't sold out in the gypsum green (beautiful, watery aquamarine) so I'm keeping the Small. I like the rounded shoulder cut for ease of movement while biking, and the snugness around the hips prevents cold air from entering under the hem. Also, I can imagine slipping out of the sleeves easily with the jacket half-zipped (around the torso) to quickly cool off while hiking or biking. So I can see the practicality in design and fit that didn't quite make sense before wearing it in action. Incredibly Versatile Staple

Even after reading many reviews I was still surprised upon receipt by how light, cozy and packable this jacket is. It is deceivingly warm and wind resistant but for 35 and below youll want to layer it with a thermal underneath unless youre going to be strenuously moving about. I have a petite athletic build, wider shoulders and narrow hips, and it fits me better than any other jacket I own. I would avoid if you are very large busted or if you have wider hips; it is truly perfectly cut for small bust, full shoulders, narrow hips. I found it to be well made and contrary to other reviews I have no issues with the neck whether fully zipped up or not. The elastic at the waist and cuffs keeps wind out without being overly tight or intrusive. The jacket does not ride up at bottom on me as some have mentioned..... again, I can see that happening with wider hips where I imagine the fit is rather snug. Thanks Patagonia for adding a cut to the line for those of us who usually have to live with jackets baggy in the hips in order to fit the shoulders! I love the sleek form fitting cut and as others have mentioned its so light and cozy youll find yourself snuggling up inside with it as it is lighter and much warmer than that hoodie youre used to grabbing when youre trying to save on the heating bills! It will definitely be the only jacket I travel with going forward; will be all I need for20 to 50 degrees without taking up any space and being light as a feather.

I loved my older micro puff. The zipper malfunctioned and so sent in for replacement. Due to an error in repair I ended up with a brand new jacket. This seemed like a lucky break at first until I received the newer 2022 model of the jacket. This jacket doesnt fit like the other one. The shoulders are redesigned which seems fine and looks nice. But there is something weird about the pockets now that causes them to look like they are kind of on the verge of turning inside out (like if your jean pocket lining was kind of pulled out a bit). This results is this weird frumpy look in that area. But I dont want to keep them zipped all the time to hide this because I like being able to put my hands in. This results is this weird frumpy look in that area. But I dont want to keep them zipped all the time to hide this because I like being able to put my hands in. The second big change is the bottom hem of jacket. The older version had the same stretchy hem as the arm sleeves which gave it a nice smooth slightly cinched bottom hem and tailored look. This new design has replaced that with a draw cord that is awkward to use, and results in the bottom cinch being kind of puckered around the sides and back but flat in the front because the cord doesnt extend to the front. Again, its just a little frumpy -looking like that. Im sure they were trying to give some adjustability there but I think its not executed well. The jacket just isnt the same now with these changes. The last version had a sleek look and fit to it that this new model looses with these changes. I dislike it so much that I just bought an older version of the jacket from eBay and am going to sell this one.

Odd fit
11 May 2024

Really nice jacket, the color, the material, the feel... except why on earth do designers think women don't have hips? Imagine how odd the fit was that I had a hard time choosing how to rate it: if Kinda Large or Kinda Small. I wish I could choose both. The large was oversized at the top - wide shoulders, extremely long sleeves - while the bottom part fit fine. Then I exchanged for a medium, the top fit perfectly and the bottom... well... it looked as if it was a body suit; too tight.I wanted to love it, but ended up returning.

Perfect for backpacking

I’ve always loved the micro puff and honestly only got another because that obsidian purple is the most gorgeous color Patagonia has ever made in my opinion and colors seem to vanish with Patagonia so I bought yet another. The only downside to the micropuff is that they are easily snagged and wear badly which for an environmental brand is not so great. I’ve sent past micro puffs to worn wear for repair but the process takes forever so now I just literally put duck tape on them. I hope future micro puffs have better durability and also that color options are more consistent. The light weight relative to warmth is unmatched in my opinion so you can’t beat this item for any activity where this matters.

Very interesting fit...

Im 51, about 145 lbs. I have bigger breasts (32G, about 39 at the fullest) and hips (42 at the fullest) and a smaller waist (32 at the smallest). I have long legs and a short torso. The fit on this is... very interesting. It was definitely not meant for me. Based on the measurements, I thought a large would be safe for me. On me, there is actually a bit of room in the chest area with the large. My shoulders, arms, chest and stomach could have fit in a medium easily. The shoulders are too big on me and the sleeves are definitely too long and big on me; they reach my fingertips. I wonder if I can find a tailor experienced in athletic gear to hem and tailor this a bit better for me.However, my hips would NOT have fit a medium. My hips definitely fit a large. The jacket is very long on my short torso and the end of the jacket covers my butt entirely. I dont think the jacket is meant to fit that way on the average person.I think this jacket would ideally fit someone with more of an athletic build, someone with a long torso, and someone who doesnt have particularly wide hips. I dont think this is particularly meant for short or curvy people.

I love my Down Hoodie, but it makes me sweat like crazy, even in the middle of winter. I’ve been looking for something lightweight and synthetic in the hopes I can wear it to run errands and walk the dogs without being a sweaty mess. I wish I had bought the Micro Puff sooner! Don’t let the ridiculously thin material fool you…it’s warm, windproof, and best of all, sweat-free! I’ve been using it in 0-5c weather and can easily see myself wearing this all winter except for the coldest days. I wish Patagonia made more colours…I feel like I will be buying quite a few more of these! I’m 5’6” 130lbs and the small fits well with a light layer. You are going to say TMI, but.... I bought a Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket about three years ago and LOVE it. I wanted to buy in more colors, but since I had scored that one at 50% off, I couldn't justify paying full price for others. My lucky internet research found the Micro Puff here at Peter Glenn for 40% off. While the Micro Puff is more expensive than the Nano Puff, it was still a huge score, and worth every penny. But before purchasing I found a comparison of the two online. I wasn't completely sold, but decided to go for it. Besides, they had them in black and navy, which is actually what I was looking for. So, here is my take. The comparison I read was completely spot on. The nano has a single interior zip pocket at the chest while the micro has two two elasticized pockets that start at the lower rib cage and extend to the bottom of the jacket. I was leery of the elasticized pockets, but they are so deep that I can't imagine anything falling out unless you are actually tumbling. If then. The micro is just a tad warmer, but not too much so. The quilting, while similar, is more of a vertical box and the boxes are smaller on the lower arms and sides. Also, as of right now the Micro's are shinier than my Nano, but I haven't washed them yet. I'm secretly hoping that goes away, but it's not so annoying as to dismiss my satisfaction with them. Overall, extremely happy! And the navy, is close to being accurate.....I like a dark indigo blue and this one is as close to anything you can hope for. Highly recommend.
