I just ordered a second pair of these shorts because I adore the fabric -- it's super lightweight and silky-soft, making them incredibly comfortable. I have long legs and the length of these shorts is perfect for not wanting to show off a lot of leg and having a little more coverage when hiking. They have a very lightweight built-in underwear which I didn't realize and wasn't sure I'd like, but they're not constricting in any way which I prefer in warmer months. The drawstring doesn't do much because of the elastic waistband, but being relatively slim and tall the medium made these just loose enough to be comfy but not feel like they're falling off. I also live in these shorts around the house. You can't go wrong with them!

I bought a pair in green and loved them so much I bought them in mauve. The pockets are large and zip so you can put a lot in them, and the stuff won't fall out. The material is soft and comfortable. They fit true to size and look great. They fit true to size. They hit my leg just at the right spot so my legs look good in them. They have built in mesh underwear which does not allow you to pull them all the up to your waste but, they hit at a comfortable spot. They also have a drawstring if you need it. I think they are great and wish there were more solid colors. They are my new favorite shorts.

Shirts are great. It is very difficult to find womans shorts with liner. These are well made. Patagonia should also consider there are women who also prefer longer shorts. I am older and 5 inches is still very short. Its discriminatory on the industry as mens shorts are typically available in lengths of 7-10 inches while womens shorts are 3-5 inches. Theyre a large market for women for prefer a more modest short. Please consider

I was very excited that there was a short option that was a slightly longer inseam but not as long as the 6" nine trails shorts. I ordered my usual Medium (5' 4", 140-145, 27-28" waist), and they generally fit and the material is super lightweight. I also love that there are two zipper pockets, one on each side. However, I had to deduct stars because the liner is a terrible, flimsy material that doesn't fit like the rest of the shorts. As soon as you put them on and move even the slightest bit, the liner rides up and is uncomfortable, so you essentially have to keep trying to readjust it, but it won't stay in place. I recently added two more pairs of these shorts to my wardrobe. They are absolutely hands down my favorite "do it all" shorts. The two zippered pockets are great for stashing items on a run, the snap pocket in the back fits a phone perfectly. They dry very quickly, making them a great travel short. I do a lot of trail running in them and they have proven to hold up to the abuse. My only issue is that the lighter colors show the sweat through the fabric. Not a big deal for casual wear, or if you don't care about looking sweaty.
I know one is not supposed to love objects, but I unapologetically love these shorts. They are lightweight, long enough without being too long, and best of all they have deep pockets WITH zippers! My god, who knew womens shorts needed deep pockets with zippers? Oh wait, women did. These shorts are awesome, I wear them as often as I can, and am slowly building my collection to have every color. Would love to see these in Navy Blue as well as some additional patterns. As someone who sweats a lot, I am usually looking for dark colors or patterns. While these shorts dry very quickly, I am still hesitant about wearing the lighter colors while running. Either way though, these shorts are awesome and I recommend them 10 out of 10. I wear a 4 in the skyline traveler pant and am an XS in these shorts. The liner of the small fit better than the XS but they looked too baggy, so I have been buying and wearing the XSs.
I needed to replace my really old running shorts for some years now and finally bought a couple pairs of the Multi Trails Shorts. Here’s what I love about them- They are soft; they have zippered pockets; the length is perfect and the waistband is comfy and doesn’t dig into my sides! Here’s the one thing I dislike- the inseam in the front seems too long which gives the shorts a frumpy look in the crotch area. This is not at all a deal breaker for me, because I purchased these for running and hiking and being active… not to look fashionable. I still give them 5 stars!
I wanted to update this review after a few days of backpacking. In the past I've hiked in the trail runners with the small back pocket. The new trail runners have 2 solid zip pockets and a basic backpocket. Overall the pockets are a serious upgrade! I am really impressed with the amount of stuff I can put in the pockets without having the waistband give way. On high mileage days, I used 2toms to prevent chafing and the short material didn't stain. I'm really excited about these shorts!
I haven't worn shorts in years to run because of chafing. I've stuck explicitly to biker shorts. A friend recommended these shorts to me, and I now swear by them. The inseam and fit are awesome. I'm 5'8" and 150ish with a small waist and athletic legs. Patagonia sizing has never really been consistent for me in the pant/short department, but these are a great fit at a medium for my build. I could probably do a small for the waist, but the medium for my thighs is perfect. They've got a drawstring to make up for the give in the waist. I've gone on long hikes, runs, and alpine adventures in these shorts and have yet to chafe. They're awesome. I'll wear them forever! Do yourself a favor and get a pair!
I was hoping that these shorts would be like the Patagonia Nine Trails 6" shorts, which I love ( I also have the Nine Trails 4", and love those, too). Although the Multi Trails are somewhat similar, and probably the closest to the Nine Trails shorts that Patagonia has right now, they just don't fit as well. When running, I really prefer the location of the back zippered pocket of the Nine Trails which holds a phone, keys, or gels, etc. perfectly. The pocket is located in the middle upper back of the shorts so the weight of whatever you put in there isn't dragging down to one side or the other. The MultiTrails has one pocket on the back right, that is not zippered. I imagine this pocket location would be better for hiking/backpacking when you might have a pack on. However, when hiking/backpacking, I prefer a short without a liner, so I can choose to wear either a swim bottom or underwear. Overall, these are nice shorts, but not what I was looking for in a running short. Please bring back the Nine Trails or something similar!
