Love it. Very warm, breathable, roomy - great look with the textured fleece. The neck fits just right - some fleece jackets are too tight, but not this one. One quibble: the pouch is lined with a flimsy t-shirt thin poly material - not exactly cozy and feels kind of unpleasant. It should be lined with similar, thick fleece material as the rest of the pullover for comfort. Also, suggestion: next year, can you ditch the two tone look for the "natural" color? Just *100%* natural and not a contrast blue or contrast anything would be excellent. That way it goes with everything and is easier on the eyes.

This seems to be a great fleece, I love the colors and it feels warm, however, I will be returning as I find this to be too long. I am 5'2, 145 lbs with wide hips and a short torso, and I purchased in a size large. I was hoping this would hit me in the back mid-bum, but it goes well beyond my bum, which just isn't the fit I was looking for, especially since there isn't much extra room in the width. I could be wrong, but the description doesn't have a length measurement, only chest, hips, waist, and inseam (sleeve). I am going to try a cropped fleece next. Cropped things usually hit me at a "normal" length.

Purchased this in the Santa Cruz Outlet store during the 40% off sale, I usually wear a small or medium but I went with a large for the oversize look. I was happy to purchase it but I ended up having to return it. The style is classic but I noticed significant gaps between threads on the material, it became quite hard to ignore. I thought those loose knitting are made to vent and make the jacket more breathable. After wearing it for half a day, I found the fleece material everywhere on my pants, seatbelt and purse. The fleece can be easily pulled or rubbed off when the jacket contact with other materials. It is such a shame because I truly do love the jacket, it is soft and comfortable, I just wish the quality of this jacket is as good as how Patagonia used to be.

I’ve owned several Patagonia fleece pullovers over the last 10-15 years and they’re generally my favorite go-to rather than hoodies or coats. I was so excited to get this Retro Pile pull over. I love the fit, look and color as well as the zipper pockets but this thing sheds and it’s very disappointing and frustrating! It’s the worst when I wear it in the car and my seatbelt rubs against it. I then have red fuzzies all over my car and then it sticks to my clothes and gets on anyone else in the car. I keep finding little fuzzies all over the house from it too. I have never had this happen with any other Patagonia item and I will probably avoid buying from them if this is what to expect now.
I had an old fleece from Patagonia that was sort of this style - Marsupial though it didn’t have zippers and it ran particularly small - and I ordered another one, same problem. I wore them plenty, but frankly I was disappointed with them.Along this Marsupial comes along…I am so in love and will be wearing it all the time! First of all, Patagonia got the sizing right. And I can wear it over a tshirt, or another sweater. Second, I can take it off easily (whereas the ones I had before were such a pain to take off). Thirdly, this has THREE pockets, so I can put my sunglasses in the top pocket, and the dog leash into the second and third pockets (they connect), or bigger items when I need my hands. And the brown color is so beautiful! Thank you. Backcountry! I ordered this thinking it would be soft and fluffy and warm. It is the complete opposite of those things. It’s definitely a stiff scratchy material. Super thin for a $70 Patagonia pull over. I put it on and put my hands in the pockets and it kept snagging on my finger nails which are super short. I will be returning. Don’t bother with this one, it’s on sale for a reason!!
I bought this fleece hoping to replace one that I've had for over 30 years. I loved the color (cream with blue piping) and the weight of the material (very cozy.) After wearing the jacket no more than a few times, the piping around the sleeve started to unravel. Normally, I would fix it myself but was annoyed that the jacket would start to fall apart so quickly. I paid $12 to send it in to Patagonia for repairs. I then received an email stating that it would take take approximately 14 weeks for the repair to be completed. I've been a long-standing customer of Patagonia for many years and have never requested a repair before because I've never needed to. This entire interaction, from purchase to repair request is certainly testing my loyalty.
For casual wear, this fleece pills and sheds sooooo much. Everywhere in my house are the fuzz balls that fall off the fleece. Plus, you can only imagine how many nano particles are entering our waters after each wash. My dryer lint filter is always full of this fleece lint after washing. I usually wear a small, but opted for the medium this time bc these are hard to put on, however, this one does have a better, deeper neck zipper, so is easier to pull over.Im worried the elbows are going to wear thin in no time.
I chose runs kind of large, but I also have one in a size small and both fit nicely. Not too big, not too small. Its both nice and unusual too have both sizes fit well. Usually xs is too small or it fits, and then small feels super big. Aside from the size, I love this sweatshirt, I have 4 of them, along with other Patagonia sweatshirts. The quality is great, they look great and I would buy every product they have if I could. I probably will over time, actually.
I got this pullover as I have other Patagonia fleece jackets. I liked it however the material of the marsupial pocket seems like it would tear. The waist hem was also very tight. I wear XS in Patagonia so it seemed weird to me it was so tight. The right sleeve at the shoulder seemed larger than the left. The color was nice, but. not flattering for my skin tone. Unfortunately, I returned it. For the price you pay for Patagonia it should be perfect fit.
