A lot of jackets claim to be all-season, but few deliver like Patagonia’s Tres Down 3-In-1 Women’s Parka. Ideal for a cold and wet winter, the Tres delivers unrivaled protection against harsh winter conditions. When the cold winds blow and bring the snow with them, a fully sealed H2No shell keeps the barrage of elements at bay. Recycled 700-fill down insulation sits just below, providing steady warmth as temperatures plummet. When the cold weather leaves, the Tres stays put. The waterproof shell zips away from the down liner, giving us a trusted raincoat for April showers and beyond. When the leaves start to fall and chilly breezes return, the insulated liner functions as a stand-alone down jacket. The outer shell pairs with a detachable hood to create an added element of versatility for extra wet and gusty days.

ALMOST - but this is SLIM fit!

I really wanted to keep this coat. Waterproof, down & worthy of the streets or the woods. BUT, the fit is SLIM! It actually says Slim on the tag when I got it. I am a true Medium, 8-10, I ordered the Medium and it is way too tight to zip past my hips. I can get it, but it's not comfortable. It fits perfectly everywhere else EXCPET the hips. I am not able to layer at all or wear any winter items underneath. I tried it on with a sweater and couldn't get it to zip over it. The outer shell fits just perfectly with the sweater, but not with the inner puffer coat (which is the most used layer!). I have to return and am sad to do so. The sleeves seemed oddly wide too, like other reviewers there are no cuffs which would've been a good addition here. Please make this in ... MoreI really wanted to keep this coat. I was looking for a down coat that was waterproof and grabbed this one as the store was closing. I liked that it was 3-in-1 so I could wear the components separately. I'm a small in most things but have found that Patagonia fits me oddly. In a Patagonia rain parka I bought last year the XS fit everywhere but my hips and the small was giant everywhere else. I bought this in a medium (that's all they had) and it fit pretty comfortably when all the parts were together, but was a bit roomier than I like on my back and waist while being a bit snug on my hips. I was able to remedy the snug around the hips issue when all parts were together and unzip the bottom of the 2-way zipper, but when I took down layer out I found that while it zipped it was not comfortable on my ... MoreI was looking for a down coat that was waterproof and grabbed this one as the store was closing. I also noticed down coming out of it, which shouldn't happen to a new jacket in this price range. When the outside was worn by itself it looked and felt several sizes too big in my back, bust, waist, and fit fine in my hips. Overall impressions, the jacket is pretty warm but wouldn't be warm enough for extreme winters (I've worn it in low 20s and been ok, but wouldn't imagine it would be great for much colder), internal pocket could be bigger and I wish there was one on both layers of the jacket (internal pocket is only in the down), I wished that there was a down hood because the hood isn't warm at all. It's an ok coat with an odd fit especially if you have bigger hips. It doesn't really function well for me without all three layers together and I think I'd be better off with a jacket that doesn't have a zip out interior. I haven't tried it in rain or snow to know if it's waterproof but it does seem like it is indeed waterproof and the outer shell does feel well made.

Super disappointed in this “parka”. I absolutely love Patagonia as a brand and have wanted to invest in a good winter jacket of theirs for years. I finally bit the bullet when a colour I love went on sale and I regret it. The fit is SUPER tight even after sizing up what I usually wear, especially in the arms which is frustrating for outdoor walks/activities which I assumed and outdoor brand would have nailed. It’s also drafty??? Very confused as it claims to be best for coldest climates. Was the design changed to cut costs?? For the price it seems super cheap and not what I would have expected, I would have been livid if I paid full price!

Love it. It's "buy it for life" coat.
18 December 2022

The coat is definitely slim fit and looks sleek and not bulky even though it's a 2 layered coat. I moved to the United States (Pacific Northwest) from the Southern Hemisphere and I did a ton of research to understand which coat I should buy. I also asked around and my friend from Minnesota said this is the only coat she wears and her friends as well. Honestly the first time I put this one was the first time I wasn't cold. It's truly amazing. It's also easy to take on and off if you are in a hurry. It's really warm and I wear a short and long sleeved shirt under it, and that's it. It's 100% worth it. I normally wear a S but I had to return the S and exchange for an M for this coat because it is truly slimfit. Not windproof and poor quality
9 December 2022

The shell is not windproof at all. I am cold is this jacket and often grab my other cheaper jackets instead. The sleeves are very large and I had to get them taken in usually most high quality jackets have Velcro or adjustable cuffs but this had nothing. The arms literally hung down. Even the inside doesn't have any specific cuffs. There are also only two pockets in this jacket?Very disappointed with this expensive jacket that looks cute on- but is not worth it. If I could return it I would! Probably just give it away.

Not your Average Rain Coat!
12 February 2023

So Climate change is now upon us. It is now colder and wetter than since the 80s.. but now it seems to be even colder. Wind chill does not help with the cold, it just makes it colder outside. I love the cold because I get to wear coats and scarves, however it has been so cold that my legs are freezing as well. My long coat is not made for the cold rain storms and as a result I looked to getting this coat. The price point is high and I was looking for a sale. Once the sale was on I was all over getting this coat. This is one of many Patagonia coats I have. The liner jacket is so nice and warm, the h2no repels water beautifully, it just beads off the coat. In addition I love the longer length. It keeps the tops of my legs nice and dry like the rest of me. I absolutely ... MoreSo Climate change is now upon us. Sleek, fits small, smells funny
19 January 2023

The parka insert smells kinda funny, almost like BO? Im assuming its the parka stuffing and I need to figure out how to air it out.. I normally wear a medium/large, but Im very glad I sized up! My broad shoulders fit snugly in the parka insert and I can wear a bulky sweater underneath when they are connected. The sleeves and length of the coat are great on my height! It can definitely fit lengthwise on a taller frame too! It seems great and a little warm for my Oregon winter, so hopefully itll be perfect for my move to DC! The outer layer is definitely waterproof! I do wish the parka insert had the same double zipper as the outer layer for sitting down purposes..

The new design ruins the fit!
4 January 2023

I have worn and loved this coat for 10 years, but when I went to repurchase it, the new design changes made the arms just too tight enough that I can't bend my elbows fully, even when wearing only one thin shirt underneath. The next larger size has an arm length that is just too long so that the cuffs extend too far down my hands to be able to work with them. I'm heartbroken! No other model has the terrific warmth, the sleek lines that make this formal work-appropriate and flattering, and the waterproof outer shell making it all-winter versatile. Even competitor brands don't seem to make a product that can serve as a substitute. If you have arms that are either very thin or extra long, you're going to love this coat.

great top layer, down fill almost non-existent
19 August 2022

I thought this would be the perfect coat because of its length, waterproof and windproof layer, and a 700 fill insulated layer. I was shocked to find that I could practically count the few down/feathers in each square. it does not have any loft. I own multiple down vests and coats with fill levels of 500 and one coat with a fill level of 850. This coat does not come anywhere close to the loft of even my 500's. I thought about keeping it for the the top layer and putting it over one of my current down coats but it won't fit over them because they actually have down in them! This coat is horribly disappointing, especially for a brand like Patagonia. I have shown this coat to lots of friends and they all agree that there is very little down in it.

warm, versatile, and flattering

I bought this coat a year ago and I feel like I finally found the winter coat of my dreams! I have worn all 3 options over the past year: just the down for cold but dry days, the shell for any kind of cool-to-warm wet days, and both together for the kind of cold (feels like 8 degrees F) with whipping wind that we're experiencing now. The hood is roomy--enough to accomodate a wool hat underneath--but doesn't gape when I need to wear it for rain in spring or summer. I bought a small based on reading reviews since I definitely wanted to wear bulky sweaters, and I'm glad I did. I'm 5'2" and around 120 pounds. The sleeves are a bit long (this is true of nearly all my long-sleeved clothing) and the hem hits me just above the knee (unlike the 5'9" models in the photos). I don't think either of these things is a big deal; I'm actually glad for the longer coverage on my legs. The coat fit is slim and flattering (no weird puffy optics). I agree with other reviewers that a couple more pockets would be welcome. The green is gorgeous!
