A great game with staying power.

I bought this cooperative game for my 3 year old a year ago. His older siblings ages 8, 10, and 13 willingly play it with him. We are still playing it and having fun a year later. The cooperative nature is encouraging to my little one who gets frustrated easily with competitive games with the older kids. It is even playable as a solo game.

Excellent choice for play therapy

I found this and other Peaceable Kingdom games through a blog post written by a play therapist. I work primarily with pediatric and adolescent males in a residential setting, and many of them need to work on cooperating with others. Race to the Treasure has been among the most popular games I have used with my clients, no matter their age; when I offer them multiple games choices, this is the game that is picked most often. It can be quickly taught and is enjoyable to play over and over again, which helps to build necessary skills that my clients need in order to successfully discharge from their program. I highly recommend it!

Great confidence & critical skills builder!

This game is a great way for young kids to learn some skills when it comes to critical thinking. My 4 yr old enjoys this game for it provides him w/ a feeling of accomplishment for having figured out the best way to navigate through the game. I think it builds confidence for young children and is a great game for the older siblings to be able to play a game that does not intimate the young players. Everyone is happy!!! And....the game is different every time bc a new path is created to win.

Great game!

We love this game, and bought it for a birthday present for a friend as well. I love the cooperative aspect, and it's so nice to work together, instead of everything else that is a race or one brother trying to beat the other. My boys make this funny noise every time we get a troll! It's fun in the moment, and it will be a fond memory of this time in years to come for sure.

I have four kids and we're a HUGE board game family, but the kids can get especially competitive... like "screaming and crying if they lose" competitive! Race to the Treasure forces them to work together to win the game as a team, instead of competing as individual players against each other. Once they grasped that concept, it was incredible seeing them help each other, strategize together and even calculate how to use their move to benefit the next person. And when they won, they cheered together, high-five each other and even did a celebratory dab. Seriously. All-in-all one of my top 3 favorite children's board games EVER. Don't bother with candy-themed mind-numbing games or ladder and slide ones. Throw those ones out and buy Race to the Treasure. My 4 year old took

My 4 year old took right to this game. He will play it with us or independently. The idea is you are building a path to collect the keys and get to the treasure before the ogre gets there. It’s a cute theme. I love that setup of the game is also teaching him the basics to plotting a point, finding column b row 4 or column e row 2. This game has been a hit!

My Favorite Kid's Coop Game
16 December 2022

I've played a bunch of cooperative games with my kids and this is easily my favorite. It has just enough strategizing that I don't get bored playing it. It challenging enough that we win most of the time, but not all the time, and it's just as fun when the ogre gets to the treasure first.

Super Fun and educational!
6 November 2017

My daughter loves this game. She loves treasure pirates and although this does not have pirate it has an ogre. You have to race against over. The ogre has a straight path to the treasure. The players in this game will have to work to build a path to the treasure on doing so they have to pick up three out of the four keys. This game is fantastic to teach kids about rows and columns, they are reading letters and numbers with the dice. They're using critical thinking to come up with the path to get them where they need to go. We love it. We played twelve games in a row first day she got it. This is her new all time favorite game and we love to have game nights as a family.

Thought provoking game for team building skills
5 November 2017

This game was amazing. Perfect for age 5+ in our mommy group. The kids LOVED this one. They all were engaged, communicating, making plans, thinking things through. I was so impressed with the teamwork that came out of this game and the instant connection they all had once they beat the ogre to the treasure. This will be a favorite game in our house for a while, we pull it out each time friends come over. I love that there is no loser or winner! I can see buying a few and saving for birthday party gifts. It is that perfect.

We loved it!

My kids and I really enjoyed this game. We had a lot of fun with it and it’s fun working together instead of against each other. My kids really like the Ogars and collecting the keys was a nice touch. You basically build a map to the end before the ogars you pull reach it. If your lucky you’ll get an orgar snack and be able to keep them at bay. It comes with 2 dice you only use to place the keys and the board is super cute! I would definitely recommend this game and others by Peaceable Kingdom. They are great for leaning teamwork and learning how to work with others it’s a great teaching game. Glad I was able to received it free for testing purposes!
