Peak Design Lens Kit Nikon

$39.95

(39 reviews)

Changing lenses is one of the most common workflows in photography. It can also be one of the most frustrating. The Peak Design Lens Kit is an adapter for the Peak Design Capture that lets you change lenses rapidly, with just one hand, and holds your unused lens rigidly and securely. Now you can carry up to 2 lenses on any backpack strap, belt or bag, keeping your spare lens quickly accessible and freeing up the inside of your bag for other gear. Made of glass reinforced nylon with machined aluminium bayonet mounts. Swivels freely for quick lens changing, but locks in 4 directions to keep your unused lens secure. Comes complete with Lens Kit Adapter (Capture Clip sold separately).

I purchased this to switch between three primes on a trip to the west coast of the US. I've found that it works best using two anchors and a Peak Design strap slung across the body. Using the V3 capture also works, but depending on the weight of your glass it could fatigue your shoulder or bounce around while you walk if you attach it to your belt.I've also seen several reviews complaining that it is plastic. Although it is predominantly plastic, it doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart, especially since the E-mounts are metal. This brings me to a point I don't like. The mounts aren't snug like on a regular body: there is audible freeplay - it's not a huge downfall, but it can get annoying. Another thing I don't like is the complete 180 of the mounts. While I had this on a strap (hanging horizontal to the ground at my right side) after switching lenses on the body, aligning the lens into the lens kit was very difficult where I would need to sit the camera down or hand it off so I could snap the lens back in.I think this is best suited for those only switching between two lenses, but by far this is the best solution to switching lenses in the field over opening a bag, case, or large hip holster.

I was very surprised that a peak design product was so cheaply made after purchasing several peak design products that are well made with metal parts. This product has a plastic base which I expect will easily break and I am worried that it will not support the weight of a heavy lens. Also, one of the plastic caps fell out. I am worried that this could also happen with a lens. Therefore I cannot recommend this product unless you have only light weight lenses.

It is extra weight to carry if you are carrying a full bag already, but if you are going out wit just a couple of lenses It would work.

Lens changing made safer
12 May 2021

With the lens kit attached to the Capture, it made lens changing a breeze. And safer. No more risk of dropping a lens due to clumsiness.

Not bad. Not perfect either. Won’t hold teleconverter cap securely.
4 October 2017

I have a Nikon F version. This is kind of a clever device. Works as advertised. My complaint is that body caps, including the caps that come with it, don’t stay on very well. In particular I would like to park a “nudie” cap for a teleconverter there but it would fall off. So I have to store the teleconverter cap elsewhere and dig it out when it’s time to park my teleconverter.

Great for on location shoots, or even just walking around taking vacation shots when you want an extra lens to be easily accessible.
