I had the foam before purchasing this padded divider and really liked how the foam locked things in place but when i get new or more equipment it didn't allow for those changes because there wasn't any room on the foam to add more holes. With this product i am able to change things as needed but i now have it set up totally different from what it was with the foam and i was able to get 3 bodies with lenses already attached as well as the 70-200 and several flash nits, my spider pro belt and a couple other lenses as well as my light meter...You get the idea. For those with changing accessories this is a must have. For those who always use the same gear and never change the foam is plenty good. Beats foam every time. I've spent the entire day configuring this for optimal usage. Velcro is strong and the build quality is good enough. It's not Domke by any means, but it gets the job done.Cons:-There are three sizes of dividers: two long ones that span the length of the case, a bunch of medium ones, and small ones. The small ones have velcro strips along the middle. The medium ones don't. This means you're forced to only use the small ones in one narrow lane, and the medium ones in two wider ones.-The tray has no zippers to take out the filler material, so try your best to not get this dirty.-Black is the worst color for this. Makes it near impossible to find stuff.

I initially purchased my pelican case with just the pick and pluck foam but after 6 months of use, the foam began to rip apart and become unusable. So I bit the bullet and purchased the divider set!Although a bit pricey, it will definitely last a longer time than the foam and I have so much more use for it now. Definitely a great investment and I recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to the foam insert.

I use my Pelican 1610 for photography so I went with the foam inserts. They are excellent but you can't adapt the system when you buy new equipment or want to change the type of equipment you are storing. So I went with the 1614 padded dividers and I'm really excited. Not only did I get the versatility and ability to make configuration changes I was looking for. I also got about 40% more storage room in my Pelican case because I no longer have to have thick walls of foam between my lenses. I'm very happy with this purchase and wish I'd done it sooner.
This is truly a love/hate relationship. I had a 1610 case with pick and pluck foam that was purposed for a specific set of camera gear that I used for one type of shoot. I loved that the 1610 kept my gear safe and easily accounted for. But, the 1610 is a tank! And I hated wheeling, and more often than not, lugging that beast around at shoots. I also hated that as my shoot needs changed, the case's padding didn't accommodate change well. Because as we all know... Once you pick and pluck, you're stuck. So, I abandoned using the 1610 at shoots for just packing a more conventional camera bag. But, I now had an expensive heavy duty case lying around with nothing to do. It made sense to repurpose the case as a general storage unit, that could be mobile if needed. I ... MoreThis is truly a love/hate relationship. It made sense to repurpose the case as a general storage unit, that could be mobile if needed. I thought about getting another set of pick and pluck, but quickly ruled it out because I would be stuck once again as my needs changed. I opted for the padded dividers with velcro as being the easiest to reconfigure as needed. It allowed me arrange and rearrange gear to get the optimum use out of the case. And as my needs for how I use the case changed, I could quickly reconfigure the padding to meet those needs. Now I love that I can store and change a ton of gear in the 1610. But, I hate that I can make that tank weigh two tons! Makes me appreciate the wheels more.
I have several 1610 cases. I also have a stack of foam in my garage because I use these diveders instead. One case with the dividers is for my audio gear. The other, my HMI lights. And the last is my regular tungsten light kit. The dividers keep everything in place MUCH better than the foam ever will and it lasts so much longer. It's easy to change the layout around and the panels are much better made than I espected. If you take the time to truly position the velcro and seal it smooth...objects don't move and stay safe. I spend too much money on my gear to go cheap, relying on foam that own't last more than a year or two. Plus I don't have to repair or repurchase equipment because it has bounced around inside a great case and broken. The case is important but it's ... MoreI have several 1610 cases. I spend too much money on my gear to go cheap, relying on foam that own't last more than a year or two. Plus I don't have to repair or repurchase equipment because it has bounced around inside a great case and broken. The case is important but it's also important what you put inside the case to keep your equipment safe. There's nothing worse than having to spend money twice for the same thing.
This padding is very modular allowing you to configure your case in just about any fashion. I can easily fit and organize my EVA1, Atomos Shogun Inferno, shoulder mount, VCT plate, follow focus, batteries, media, battery chargers, and tons of other accessories in separate compartments, making it really easy to quickly grab what I need out of the case. I'm a little worried about durability as I'm not sure how well the padding will hold up after years of use, but I've had for a few months now and taken it on several jobs, and so far everything has held up well. I've checked my case with baggage handlers on travel gigs, and so far all my gear remains unbroken (knock on wood). The padding seems thick and durable enough to protect and last.
I have seen so many photos of people's perfectly organized pick 'n plug foam cases but there's absolutely no way that can work for me. I am always changing my kit depending on the assignment so I just couldn't get the foam to work for me. I ordered the padded divider and now I have the flexibility I need. Currently I have a Profoto Acute2 2400 and 3 Acute2 heads in it. Pretty great to get all that in one hard case and fit for travel.
Fit is perfect in my case and also works pretty well in the IM2726 case, but the padded dividers are just one size, except for 2 really long ones that can only go long ways in the case. Also the shorter dividers only have hard side velcro so there is no way to connect two short dividers together if you wanted to.
We use pelican cases for transporting equipment to tradeshows and the products we take change often, so having padding in the case that is modular and light, without beign wasteful (unlike pluckfoam) is very important ot us. This product makes it really easy to custom sort your gear in a pelican. It is great becuase you can change the layout and organizaiton easily (unlike pluck foam where you are comitted to the holes you pluck out). The yellow makes it really easy to see darker equipment, ensuring nothing ever gets lost in the pelican case. It is very light so it doesn't add miuch weight to the pelican case, but on the flip side, it feels a bit cheap. I am very curious to see how it holds up over time.
