Instead of lugging 5 separate cases for the flash heads, I wanted to consolidate them into one case.I love the yellow padding since it's easier to find black electronic gear. If you have at least 5 strobes of similar size, this can fit all the strobes and the included accessories with room to spare. I can carry the case, but the wheels really help. If you make money on your gigs, this is worth the investment.

I bought this for my scuba gear which includes a BCD, fins, boots, 3mil wetsuit, dive computer, camera case and light and all of the other misc small items needs for open water diving except weights and tank. It all fit and weighed in at 49.8 pounds. Perfect for checked luggage and more secure and protective than the rolling duffle I was using. . .the Blue color also makes it easy to spot at baggage claim.

It's a sturdy and amazing case to check equipment on planes without fear of any damage to the content. No need to risk your carry on being weighed at the gate, found overweight and then checked when in 'normal' roller bag. However, I would STRONGLY recommend either the TrekPak system or the normal dividers with Velcro which are very flexible. - Pluck foam is not flexible at all - once you've plucked the foam into your layout, that's it! Only way to change it is essentially to buy another pluck foam system which isn't cheap.Besides for photo gear, the case is great for normal holidays when you're flying - luggage handlers can't break this!

Pelican for the win once again! Solid case with lots of space to travel with mostly everything you can think of. The TSA locks give an extra sense of security when going through an airport with lots of different hands handling the gear. The lid organizer comes in handy.I do wish the case came with some additional foam padding on the bottom and possible even around the edges. If you have things in the case such as lights, tripods, or other things you don't want to get banged up against the bottom or side of the case, that extra layer of padding would be helpful. I also haven't quite figured out how to best utilize the packing cubes for my camera gear needs. They seem to be just too big for any of my wrapped cables, and too flimsy without any padding for anything ... MorePelican for the win once again! They would probably be great for clothing or climbing gear though...
Pelican makes the best hard cases, and this is no exception. I actually purchased it for use as a suitcase, mostly for clothing and a little overflow gear. Perfect for that. It's pricey. Not sure the Packing Cubes are worth that much, but I wanted the Oxblood (maroon) color, so basically that's what I was paying for.
The Pelican 1615TP is one of those products you don't realize you need at the beginning of your photography journey. Only after a decade of fooling around with every other option to pack, haul, and store a growing kit does it become the obvious choice. If you plan on a lifetime of photography, don’t hesitate. This 1615 trekpak case is great for a system of 3 bodies and a dozen lenses, plus flashes, batteries and accessories. I ordered a TrekPak supplement from the Pelican website so I could make more compartments. If you drive from one job to another, or plan a longer excursion and want to safely transport all your gear at once, its ideal… it’s now my vehicle “working bag” that keeps everything secure, immediately accessible. TrekPak is easy to size and is, soft, durable and modular. Case is light enough to handle as luggage, rolls well, has sturdy latches and lock rings. Highly Recommended. Should have bought it in 2005.
I'm a sales rep for one of the major lens manufacturers in the photo industry so I tend to run around with around 2 dozen lenses at all times. The 1615 currently sits 22 lenses (including our current 600mm zoom), a Joby Gorillapod Focus with their Ballhead X (another highly recommended product), and a fair amount of extras. It tends to pack two banner type table cloths for the shows, as well... It's practically a gear closet. The Air cases are as advertised: built solid with a significantly lighter weight. And I do mean significant. The difference in weight has obviously made not just shipping easier but also checking the gear in at the airport. It has replaced two separate pieces of storage for me, personally, so the fact that I'm now worried about one case vs two ... MoreI'm a sales rep for one of the major lens manufacturers in the photo industry so I tend to run around with around 2 dozen lenses at all times. The only general con that I'll give is that, while I love the padding, there needs be at least 6 more dividers provided. Purchasing another set is overkill. I ended up cannibalizing a Lowepro 300X AW roller I had laying around, simply because its reinforced dividers ended up being perfect... and now I have enough dividers. Nice work, Pelican. Much appreciated. Love, your Tamron Lenses rep in the Rockies.
I bought this case thinking it would be strong enough to put my displays in to ship around the country but I was wrong. I've used this case maybe 10 times and had it loaded with maybe 50 pounds of material and I just see a giant break and crack next to one of the wheel assemblies. The warranty department won't do a thing because they said they test all their products and that damage doesn't fall under their warranty even though they advertise crush proof on their listings. The case is definitely lighter but its less than half of the protection and thickness of their normal cases. Hope this saves someone from this expensive headache.
I bought this mostly for a current and a future trip in Europe where carry on luggage is too restricted to cover all my photo gear. I like it so much I'll be using it for trips without that constraint as well. Holds a lot and is quite big, yet the case itself is very lightweight. Multiple handles all around makes it easy to lift and move. The several latches around the case operate operate easily yet firmly. And of course it's crush proof, waterproof etc. That last one proved useful on ferries in the Greek Islands where waves can splash over the deck where large luggage is stowed
I've lost count of how many Pelican cases are carrying my gear. Then Pelican changed the game again with their Pelican Air line of cases. Significantly lighter and this is especially helpful when you're flying with gear and trying to keep it under 50 Lb. The build quality, strength and features seem to be identical to the regular, heavier cases. The new latches (which seem to be copied from Pelican's Storm cases line) are excellent. Pricey, yes... but worth every cent.
