Pelikan Souverän 800 Black-Red Fountain Pen, Resin, 816571KIT (Nib: F)
The name 'Souverän' came to live in the 1980's, meaning 'Sovereign'. Still, many people refer the classic stripe design to the German Foreign Minister 'Stresemann', often wearing the striped uniforms. The material of the Souverän pens is high-grade resin, which ensures that the pen keeps its bright coulour and that it remains unscratched. The fountain pen features an excellent piston filling system, a technology that was first introduced by Pelikan in 1929. The pen is finsihed with a handcrafted 18 carat gold nib with rhodium accents.

Great service and shipping. I had been given a local quote for the Pelikan M800 that was astronomical and thought that owning this pen was out of reach. Upon coming across Zafpens and doing a little reasearch, I ordered my Pen with confidence. From ordering to receiving everything was great, with some nice personal touches included that you never see anymore. I'm very happy with my pen and will be ordering from them again.

This is a fountain pen classic but a few things that you have to be aware of. Pelikan does not have to best QC when it comes to nibs, and whether you have any issues with either tine alignment, or nib size, is your luck of the draw.I have bought Pelikan pens from brick and mortar stores, and you often have to try a few to get the right nib size (notwithstanding that they are all marked the same). You also need to size up on their nibs. I write with a Western M nib and for Pelikan I usually end up with either EF or F for the same thickness. Needless to say, B nibs are real ink gushers.Thankfully for me, my Drop worked great out of the box.

My first Pelikan pen and in love. Writes beautifully and feels solidly built. The piston ink filler works every time and every detail is a gorgeous one. The extra fine nib is more medium in comparison to the Japanese nibs but I anticipated it and so I use a drier ink and can get a fine line.

As always, the gang at Goulet got my order to me quickly, perfectly packed, and even with a card and a Tootsie pop. What more can I say? Oh...the pen is Pelikan's usual smooth ride. Many thanks Goulet!
I went to buy a Pelikan for my collection. Shopping in Iguana was an amazing experience, matching that of the best jewelers. I had an excellent opportunity to try and match pens and inks with knowledgeable and kind attendants.I will definitely come back when looking to extend my collection.
I bought this pen with a EF nib, but the unit I received had a very poor ink flow and was unusable. I contacted the IguanaSell customer care and they promptly arranged for the return of the faulty pen and sent me a new one which works just fine. Incidents like this can happen, but it's the way the seller handles them that makes the difference. Will definetely buy again in the future.
I bought this pen to replace my old M400 which I purchased fifteen years ago. The 400 has been, and is a magnificent instrument but I always felt that it was not ideally suited for my hand. So, I finally obtained the pen that I should have had all these years. The M800 is everything I knew I needed and then some. With the broad nib it writes with a silky smoothness and it fits my hand perfectly. I absolutely love it.The good news is that I am going to gift my old M400 to my 30-year-old daughter who I know will absolutely love it as well. So it stays in the family; a classic win-win situation. This M800 is the perfect companion to the 60-year-old Montblanc Meisterstück that I received from my dad when he passed fifteen years ago. The perfect one-two punch, as it were. There are a precious few personal luxury items that make life a pleasure and great fountain pens are one of those.
I have wanted one of these pens for a long, long time. The Pelikan M800 fountain pens are all beautiful, and this newly available Red/Black may be the most stunning of any. It is a large pen, and truly makes a statement, posted, or not. And, the nib...a thing of golden beauty. Writes like I am Hemmingway.
I have been wanting to get a really good fountain pen for years. Finally overcame my frugality and splurged on the Pelikan M800 green/black with medium nib. It arrived today and looks fantastic, like some art deco icon from the 1930's when fountain pens ruled. It writes as smoothly as I was hoping it would. I am totally happy with this purchase.
