Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2016 vintage is a dark brick-red colour in the core, with stunning crimson on rim. This wine immediately invokes interest, its nose is captivating. With a bouquet of fruits emanating from glass with black cherry, mulberry, blackcurrant, boysenberry with hints of star anise and savoury spices. With decanting this wine has perfumes of zabaglione, crème anglaise and eggnog ‘creaminess’ appear. Immediately recognisable as, St Henri. The palate demands immediate attention. Mouth filling, with pure-fruited retronasal continuum from the first sniff to the post-ingestion back-palate. This wine does not leave any portion of your palate untouched, giving the sensation of a big wine, yet poised and superbly balanced. Finishing with red and dark-fruits, with a compote of fresh prune and quince. The 2016 release consists of 95% Shiraz, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
