"Let's get a non-player's opinion," said no one ever. But nevertheless, here I am. First of all, we have the Penn 1 and the picture clearly shows the Penn 3s, but I'm just going to ignorantly pretend they're all the same! But as someone who just got into the sport on a whim, they work perfectly fine! They bounce, they're round, classic look and feel, they don't disintegrate when I hit them - what more could I want? Not the cutest or most luxurious packaging, but who cares? New plastic/tennis ball smell is kind of strong at first, but don't sniff them for too long and you're fine!

Name a better smell than a freshly cracked can of tennis balls (specifically penn), I’ll wait. I played tennis starting at age 5 and it became my world. Penn has always been my ball of choice and then when I went to play in college, I played with it there, too. They’re truly few things more reminiscent of my childhood than a can of Penn tennis balls. The best.

A three pack of tennis balls, isn’t much of an expense. Your racket and shoes, tend to be where costs associated with this sport are. I’m an occasional player, not great, but not crummy either. What I enjoy most is the competitiveness, and how good of a workout this sport is. If you watch it on television, it looks kind of relaxing, but it definitely is far from that. It’s a intense aerobic workout. These tennis balls from Penn, work fine for basic purposes. A group of guys and I practice with these, or if a match breaks out even better. These are quite durable. It’s amazing to think of how many times, and the ferocity of our hits. You can see them marked up after extensive time, but to us that says great activity. Championship Balls
22 November 2017

DICK's has asked for my honest opinion about my purchase of Penn bbChampionship Tennis Balls (one can.). Really? OK ... It's nice that there were three of them, which is pretty standard. We open a new can for our 1.5 hour indoor session each week, so they don't have to retain their bounce for too long. Also they really can't get too dirty indoors, so they maintain visibility. They are pretty much identical, so you can't tell them apart. Penn puts a number (the same number on each) on the balls so you don't mix them up with other players' balls if they get hit to an adjacent court somehow, which is pretty nice. But truthfully, most indoor courts are separated by netting so it's hard to lose them to another court but still it's a good feature, which is included in the ... MoreDICK's has asked for my honest opinion about my purchase of Penn bbChampionship Tennis Balls (one can.). But truthfully, most indoor courts are separated by netting so it's hard to lose them to another court but still it's a good feature, which is included in the cost - not an upgrade or anything. The can has two lids really, the metal top which you have to be careful with when you open the can, so you don't cut yourself; and the plastic lid which acts like a reclosable lid so you can put them away after playing. Also the can is not metal, just the first top that you have to tear away is, but plastic, so you can see what's inside before you buy and even after you buy right up to the time that you dispose of them. I see you can add up to 6 photos and even video, to a review, but I apologize that I didn't come prepared so I'm afraid my review may be lacking. I will try to remember the next time I buy something from DICK's to take 6 pictures and some video footage to augment my written description.

Extra Duty?
25 October 2022

Maybe can’t say these are “extra duty” felt, since only last about 3-4 outings before the felt is worn; the “Penn” logo and numbers are also worn. Maybe this is normal and honestly we did not try the regular duty. Balls still bounce OK even in cooler weather after 3-4 outings but seem dead after perhaps 5-6 hours use. Maybe this is par for tennis balls whether Wilson, Dunlop or Penn?

Good quality at a good price
7 February 2023

I appreciated the ability to pay a low unit price (just over $1/ball), even if I just wanted 1 can. (I bought 4 cans.) I found that competitors were asking for a much higher unit price, only being comparable in unit price when buying 24 tennis balls. I didn't notice any sacrifice in quality. They're the same Penn balls as anywhere else I've bought them from.

Hit or miss with these tennis balls
12 July 2022

I've had great cans and I've had cans where the balls clearly have less pressure than normal. Penn Tour are much more reliable. This applies to all non "tour" tennis balls. So Wilson US Open are way better and consistently better quality than the standard Wilson balls.

Not For Tennis...
29 August 2022

I can't say how these tennis balls perform playing tennis. I recently purchased some pollows that can be washed. The instructions for doing so staye that clean, new tennis ball should be placed on the dryer where they will help to kepp the pillows "fluffed". Hence, this is the reason I purchased these tennis balls. The price was great.

Penn makes and distributes a poor product.
18 February 2023

I purchased a few cases for personal and high school team use. Some of the boxes contain all dead balls. They're pressurized, but hardly bounce and even bounce in awkward directions. There must've been a huge amount of bad balls manufactured and Penn is cool with shipping a terrible product.

Truthful.
6 February 2023

I ordered 6 cans of Penn Championship tennis balls shown as in stock at a price of $16.95. This comes out to equal $2.83 per can. They substituted the 6 cans for only one can at $3.28. This is the regular price which I could purchase in the store. Why didn't they give me 6 individual cans at the $2.83 per can price. Not happy about this.
