Penn Fathom II FTHII40NLD2 The Penn Fathom II LD is a modern compact lever drag boat reel which is light in weight but heavy in performance. The heart of any lever drag reel is the drag itself and Penn have fitted the Fathom II LD with their Dura Drag system. Dura Drag contains a special Phenolic bonding agent that prevents the premature breakdown of the carbon fibre drag material whilst also providing a barrier to water. The result is a smooth and powerful drag which applies controlled pressure throughout the fight with fear of losing the fish through a jerky drag. The drag is set using the pull-to-turn pre-set knob which allows you to alter the drag setting with a quick pull and turn of the adjuster. It them locks in place preventing accidental adjustment of the drag whilst playing a fish. To match the drag the Fathom II LD has a strong full metal body and side-plates, stainless steel main and pinion gears and a double-dog ratchet anti-reverse. The LD2 Model features a two speed retrieve giving the instant choice between fast for working lures and speeding gear back to the boat or a powerful high torque low gear for playing big fish from the depths. The speed can be quickly adjusted using the push button switch on the handle The 40LD2 has a narrow spool and large capacity making it ideal for deep water and big fish. The High 6.0:1 retrieve is perfect for working lures at depth and for getting your gear back to the boat. The ultra powerful low speed 1.9:1 retrieve gives you the torque to guide large fish up from the depths.
