Bought this reel to replace my 13 year old reel that just didn't work any more. This 6000 reel works great.I put 300 yards of 30# braid line and paired it up with a Penn Squadron III 8 ft. pole. This combo is what I use at the jetties. I am very pleased with the way it performs.

Really good reel, the drag system was very easy to use, it is quite heavy, due to the LL function. This means a secondary drag is used to add drag and almost free spool live bait. I would recommend line that lines up with the drag rating, same goes for the rod. Over all, very good dispite the weight.
Haven't used it yet but looks great... solid feel and nice smooth action .Love the thick bail arm . Bought this reel on the back of the Penn Applause I have had for years and still going strong. Great reels.Cheers Adrian Heazlewood.

I bought it to go with a Fenwick HMX 9 foot six medium rod for salmon and steelhead casting has been a great reel so far. Has landed 15 coho so far and a few Atlantic salmon. I live in Michigan where this is possible to get both species of salmon in the same harbor. Reel has a slight wobble when reeling but everything else has been great.

I had these reels for 6 years already, heavily used, never had a problem, they just keep going and going. As the others breakdown I replace them with Penns
