This was a great value item as i purchased the reel and rod cheaper than my local hardware store charged for reel alone. However I suspect the one at the hardware store is USA made old stock and not chinese made.
Great combo, just beware of a salesperson suggesting that you use BCF “bulk line” service for the reel as it ending up costing $40 more than if I had done it myself.

So i got this rod just to get my first shark. I’ve had the rod for a couple of months now. The Only thing I didn’t like was my top eyelet haha. No for real the eye came off within 2 weeks. Glue didn’t really fix it so $5.00 I got a new eyelet. That is the only bad thing that happened. I got 80lb braid with 100lb leader. It loves it. The drag is really good. And yer I had no trouble getting the 3.5m bronze whaler beside the boat. Tock about 15min to get it. But the more the shark ran. The better the drag felt and it warmed up. Good performing rod.
Tip guide was cracked and it cut my line a few times before I worked out what was wrong
Throw some 40lb braid on the there and have some fun. Trawling is so smooth. Great rod and reel. Get the dog!!!!
I had 2 of these 1 is perfect but the other one the top eyelet feel apart before I used it but I returned it and bcf refunded my money
Great combo bought it and took it out to five islands down near port Kemble and caught a 1.3m gummy shark. Rod has great firm grip and the reel has an amazing drag no problems at all.
