Penn International 50VISW Overhead Reel

Really nice reel the only thing I am not 100% satisfied is that there is a small amount of sideways play in the winder handle that comes from the reel body housing around a ml.. there shouldn't be any play at all.. I have another Penn 50VSW virtually brand new that has a miniscule amount of sideways play in comparison. apart from that they both work beautifully and I'm very happy with them. The team at marine deals delivered super fast and package items very well . this is an honest review !! Thank you for a great service!!!Guy Jorion

International 30 & 50 VISW

This is a great reel that we use trolling for Texas Gulf Coast slobs... this reel will crank down on those monster Sea Donkey's we have here (Amberjack), no issues with Cuda, Tuna, Sailfish or sharks! Could not be happier for "small" game fishing than I am with the International 30's and 50's we use.

Penn International 6 VSW review

Great Reel!Smooth retrieve, Smooth drag.I run nothing but I-6's in my pit. 50 Wides...run 30 Wides for my pitch baits...both spooled with 80# Diamond Braid (500 yds) and 125 Green Momoi top shot (250 yds) little bit less line for the 30sHave not met a marlin yet that has "spooled me" and the 50 wide frames are a lot easier to handle than the 80'sThanks for a Great Product!Andy DyessCAPTAIN DADDYVenice LA

Solid reel - much better for my needs

As an amateur fisherman in the Caribbean hunting tunas, marlin, and mahi I was told that starting out with a basic reel like the Penn Squall would work fine - and most of the time they do.However, when using a planer or other device to get my baits deeper the drag on the Squall could not handle it and I ended up burning through a reel in only 3 months.Switching over to this heavy duty reel has worked out well - no drag issues and the larger fish that attack my deeper baits have all be landed - no spooling as happened on the Squall.

The Standard for Big Game Fishing

The Penn Int 50w is a great big fish reel that provides plenty of line capacity and plenty of drag but in a workable size as the 70w, 80w, and 130w become heavy and overkill for almost all BFTand YFT in NJ/NY waters. NEW VI series is great .... lighter, provides 45lb of drag, and plenty of line capacity. I really like the new “banana†handle .... it feels great. Nice loud clicker too. The adjustable strike drag is a great feature!!!!!!

The right reel for the job

We are putting 2 each 80VISW teamed up with 2 each 130 VIS. We will fish these Penn Reels June 10 thru June 20 on the Kailua/Kona coast. That time frame is out of the date for your contest. We will target Wahoo (Ono), Yellowfin tuna (Ahi) and Short Bill Spearfish. We can send photo's to Penn showing you the results of our efforts and the efficacy of the 80VISW and 130 VIS.

Wouldn’t buy any other Reel

The Penn International is my go to reel when it comes to offshore trolling. These are by far the best reels I own and have been around for a long time. It was great to add their new series to my arsenal.

I requested the silver edition and received the gold. Not what I wanted. I paid full price and got what I would expect off a second hand store. The original box was open and there was a really nice deep scratch on it. Not buying anything from these guys anymore.
