No extra bells and whistles that are just other things that can go wrong and make maintenance a pain. Will recommend to all my fishing buddies

I got this to use out of my Hobie Outback as a virtually disposable reel as I've lost a few reels over the side in years gone by. I spooled it with 10lb Platypus Platinum & use it with soft plastics for whiting small snapper & big blue spotted flatties. This reel easily handles everything I've managed to fool into taking my offerings including a decent banjo shark . A pleasure to use with a lovely silky smooth drag. it requires simple maintenance of a regular wash under the tap at home & a very infrequent lube up. I even got the bigger 360 slammer to partner it. I got this Penn Slammer 360 to replace one I lost overboard. I was surprised I found a new one as I thought it was discontinued many years ago. My original lasted 20 years and was still performing perfectly. I had 20 pound test Power Pro braid on it, and it was mainly used inshore for Striped Bass and Bluefish. But it's been on 7 trips to Florida and the Caribbean. The final week I had it in my possession I caught five small 4-5 pound Snook, Barracudas to 30 pounds, a couple of 30 pound Mahi and 2 Tarpon. The first Tarpon was 65- 70 pounds, it was the largest fish I ever caught with this reel. I got it along side a kayak in 6 minutes, it then took another six minutes to grab it and get a picture. It was used 20-40 days a year, on windy days it was splashed and sprayed with saltwater constantly. I only ever completely cleaned it out once after a submersion, was always hosed off.
Braided line winds onto spool in a cone shape causing casting errors, tangles and wind knots. Monofilament backing line also wound in a cone shape but mono might cast better on this reel. Seller told me this was normal for this reel but issue could be corrected with plastic washers-- it can't. This reel doesn't seem to be available from any US sellers- is it really a Penn?
Old model but USA product that has different live liner. Solid, just no select reverse. Nice for bank stick here. Think worth a try, find one. Heavy; great drag.
I bought this for two reasons, 1) my Slammer 360 USA was lost to a broken reel seat and is now somewhere in the Indian River Lagoon, and 2) I 'needed' a dependable BTB reel to handle Jack, Drum, Cobia and Kings off the Texas Gulf Coast. This reel fits that bill! It is paired to a 7' ML Blair Wiggins Offshore Rod and loaded with 30# braid backed by 15#mono. I primarily use live bait but trolling works just as well. I also put this reel on an 8' Ugly Stik Surf Rod (Old Model) and sling DOA bait busters and large terroreyz off the Jetty, works well. Overall a great and dependable reel that is smooth operating and can be utilized in various scenarios.
This product is like our original Penn Slammers from USA years ago. Other than the time that it takes to get to you, I have nothing negative to say. My husband changed my reel from my older Slammer to this one and it casts like butter. So very smooth. Great product for a very reasonable price.
Great value little 2600 size reel. Solid, simple and reliable with 5 stainless steel bearings, level wind and infinite anti-reverse. The drag is silky smooth and consistent. Left or right hand operation. Perfect for Gar, Whiting, Tommies, Bream and even small Snapper on the right rod. Holds around 250M of 15lb braid or 200M of 20lb braid if you're so inclined.
