I have several of these in my house to keep my daughter safe. Despite needing to be mounted with screws they are much better then the non screw alternatives I have seen.

I purchased 3 of these gates as they’re the only type I could find without a bottom bar when open . The quality control is non existent, all three of them needed the i bolts on the hinge side drilled out a lot as they were too small and also not round. They take a lot of adjustment to get to work correctly. Absolutely do not recommend.

This gate is relatively easy to install but has a major flaw in the way it has been designed and constructed. The plastic hinge pins are too tight within the steel connectors on the gate and this makes the gate impossible to lift and release from the catches. I drilled out the steel connectors to make it easier but it still takes 2 hands and a lot of force to slide the gate up. The company needs to redesign the hinge connection which will allow the gate to function correctly.

- One of the two we bought came apart immediately due to poor quality manufacturing, and had to be returned. The company's response was not helpful, but at least Bunning are an honorable retailer. - This gate requires a lot of fine tuning (during mounting) in order for it to open and close easily, as compared to other gates we have which are much less temperamental. - Once it's in, it's effective and more sturdy than other gates we have. I wouldn't buy it again.
Works well. Easy to assemble and looks good. Highly functional
Purchased the taller version and installed today. Quality of gate and fittings seem good but overall design is pretty basic. Steel hinge bolt holes did not fit over the nylon mounting pegs so needed filing out with a round rat tail file (I used a chainsaw file) so they would slide easily on the nylon mounting pegs. A bit of vaseline helped also. This is critical to the function of the locking mechanism as the catch relies on the gate being able to rise and fall. Both the top and bottom catch could be designed with a progressive incline slide to make the entire closing process less clunky. Having to lift the gate is cumbersome. The supplied screws are too short unless going into relatively hard timber. I used my own longer ones.
Fairly easy to install, my husband managed to fit it quite easily. Good that it doesn't have a bottom bar to trip over like the old kind. Keeps the grandchildren out of the kitchen.
I didnt read the reviews before purchase, simply too heavy for a studded wall. I am going to keep the solid centre pieces, just incase an area needs isolation, using the pressure grips to hold in place.
Great child gates to have around the house to keep little ones out of certain rooms and areas of the house. The only down side is that sometimes the template you get to make your drill holes can be off.
I'm on my second one of these now (Probably should have changed altogether, but as it's hardware affixed, I wanted to avoid drilling another set of holes). However, I persisted. As per the first one, the end screws which determine the width are impossibly difficult to screw in, and require an inordinate amount of force. It really is a pain to install, and the reason I'm on my second one is the bottom end piece that holds the spacer screws in started coming away from the gate after only 3 months of use (meaning the gate would fall off its hinges..). Perhaps, look around at other options, and maybe increase your budget.
