Petzl Boreo Helmet - Orange - S/M
Based on a popular design that works well for climbers, canyoneers, and cavers, the Boreo blends excellent protection with durability. The shell combines hard plastic and light, dense foam to absorb impact either from contact with the rock or from falling stones and ice chunks. This model also offers side impact protection that comes into play if you get flipped upside down in a lead fall or punch through an unstable snow bridge. Injection moulded ABS shell is lightweight and durable. Expanded polystyrene and polypropylene liner absorbs impacts from above as well as all sides. Comfort foam is quilted and lined with absorbent fabric that's washable. Precise headband adjustment with two push-buttons and Y-shaped webbing straps that can be adjusted around your ears. Headband folds into the shell for storage and transport. Headlamp attachment uses 4 sensibly placed clips. Compatible with Petzl Vizion face shield.

I wear a men's small (6/7) headgear, and I'm very close to maxing out the adjustment tabs for this helmet in a s/m. It leans toward being very small for an adult male. Initially, the headband adjustment tabs were pressing on the back of my nugget, creating a very bad pressure point. I was thinking that I'd have to return the helmet because it would be impossibru for me to wear this for a long period of time. Maybe I needed a larger size? Maybe I'm just overly-sensitive? No, that can't be it... Then, I looked at the constructions. The constructions have a lot of fancy words in many languages, in very tiny print; The pictures worked well for me. It's very important to have enough vertical space between the headband and the bottom of the helmet, so the adjustment tabs fit below those pressure points. The chin strap is a tad uncomfortable. It's narrow, and coarse. It could use a strip of sweet, sweet velour to make it less abrasive. I'm sure there are innumerable '80's jogging suits available to up-cycle for that cause.Once I got the fit dialed in, it's actually comfortable on the head, and very light. For the price, this is an outstanding buy if you can get your size.

Got this for my daughters (10y and 8y). It's lightweight (lighter than their ABS-shell bike helmets). The band is easy to adjust. There's a notch (unlike the mens' Boreo version) at the back that let's my daughters wear their hair in a pony tail, and the adjustment clips are off to the sides (unlike other brands that use a central dial smack in the middle of their pony tail that catches hair when rotated) and ratchet down to the correct fit as the straps are pulled snug down around their ears and chins. Easy, peasy. Being an adult helmet, there's also plenty of room for growth, which equals years of use. This helmet also has side protection, which give me more peace of mind.

This fits my head fine, I'm 5'9" and medium build and consider my head average so should fit most heads. I had to do a lot of the adjusting to get the back straps not to rub on the base of my skull, but once set it works fine and I have worn it all day outside without any issues climbing or belaying. Vent holes are generous which is great for breathability but you might get some small pieces coming through (probably fine unless you're climbing something epic).Overall a decent budget helmet. If it matters to you the color is more teal than green.

I bought the M/L Blue based on the review that it wasn’t the color in the picture. The picture in the review showed a lighter, more “sky blue like it would be some chick named Misty’s eye shadow color. Totally girlish.” I thought it looked pretty good, better than the blueish grey in the product photo. When it arrived it was not the eye shadow of misty I was expecting and hoping for it. It wasn’t even the grey of the product picture. It was a much darker blue. Which still looks fine. And it keeps my brain intact when I fall so there’s that. It fits well, in comfy, easy to adjust, the chinstrap isn’t itchy or bothersome to me, which is a common problem I have with helmets and hats of any sort. In terms of the product, 5/5, in terms of the color, it’s a wildcard. ... MoreI bought the M/L Blue based on the review that it wasn’t the color in the picture. This is my second climbing helmet, my first was the bd half dome. I ended up replacing my first one because for the life of me, I could not get it to fit. The attachment system worked great, until I tilted my head head to look at the wall, then it would flip back and be too tight to fit snuggly again. This is frustrating when trying to climb. The Petzl on the other hand, has a unique attachment system that makes it more comfortable and stay right where it needs to be. I always have to adjust it when putting it on by loosening it then tightening it, but it’s a snug and secure fit that lasts all day. The helmet is also very light.
This helmet fits perfectly on top of my head. Most climbing helmets sit high on top of your head and miss your forehead, but this one covers all of your important spots. It's so comfortable that you just forget that it's there. I had rocks fall on it and I barely felt anything. Very happy with this product.
I'll start by saying that I initially bought one of these helmets for myself for the primary purpose of canyoneering. Then, as my wife and kids got into canyoneering with me, we stopped borrowing helmets from a friend and I ordered one for each of my kids and one for my wife. I have a few scratches on the top of my helmet where it saved my head from getting some decent bonks and scratches, but I've never fallen or tested the helmet in an extreme way like that. So far it has done its job and I am very satisfied with this helmet--enough to trust it to protect my wife and kids.
Fits well and has a space for a ponytail. Had the mens version prior in a small and a small medium womens fit fine. Def was updated between the old mens version and the new Womens, don’t love the tightening part in the back. Old version of mens was more intuitive and faster. Love the purple though!
Really great update to a classic. Better ventilation and coverage with the same durability and usability as the original. The rear elastic band is also a nice upgrade that can hold a headlamp or goggles in place. Versatile, affordable, durable, with increased comfort and safety!
Coming from a MTB background, we're lucky enough to be spolit for choice in helmets. While climbing helmets are catching up with technology and we're starting to see helmets with MIPS and other tech, I would say this helmet is going to save your bacon from a rock or moderate wall impact. Definitely has enough energy absorption foam for a hard impact.
