Philips Air Humidifier HU4803/01 - Humidifiers (Beige, White)

I recently purchased the humidifier and was plesantly suprised at how pong it runs for. On the highest setting and one tank of water, it lasts all night AND majority of the next day. As i saw in another review the highest setting is a little loud but you do have to take into consideration there is a little fan in it pumping away. Its not terrible but might not be ideal for a light sleeper. Other than that im very happy with the product. Its helped greatly improve quality of air and helped soothe those nasty coughs and snotty noses this winter.

Never owned a humidifier, saw this was a air purifier, and, humidifier (combo), so it turned out great. The unit itself in the high setting is a little loud, but, tolerable (does have a low setting which is good if you want to sleep with it on). Had an issue with amount of dust in my small bedroom, this seemed to lower the dust build up drastically. Design is nice, really easy to operator, love how it doesn't have energy wasting LED's like other humidifiers on the market. Overall good product, has the upper hand since its an air purifier, and, humidifier. Thanks Phillips!

A little doubt on how it work

I'm not sure how this type of humidifier works, when we dissemble, it's quite like a water tank plus a fan on top, seems to me not high-tech.The integrated humidity meter works not well, every time I turn it on, the humidity monitor just provided a random number and fast increases/decreases to another value, so I don't really know if it can really control the humidity in the room.But I do feel better when I have it on during sleeping

Efficient air humidifier but...

I have been using it for over a year to humidify the apartment. Satisfied overall, easy to clean, easy to fill in and good capacity. However, the humidifier stops automatically before it empties completely and here is the issue. One might forget about the humidifier and find out few days later water at the bottom, with mold starting to form, which defeats the purpose of the humidifier and can even be dangerous. As a work around, I always place a lid at the bottom of the container, so that it presses on the floater and prevents the machine to stop by itself.

GREAT AUTOMATED CONTROL

We bought 2 humidifiers of different brands at the same time. The Philips automates the humidity control, without which the machine will just continuously put out humidity irregardless of the Relative Humidity in the room. This then fogs up all your glass. Automated RH sensor is of key importance, since it is not possible that we manually monitor the RH, and switch off & on the machine. Water container at bottom makes total sense, instead of upside plastic containers, which we don't know when the seal is going to fail, leading to leakage of water.

Good product but can be better

I have bought the medium size for rooms up to 25m2.I like that is very easy to use and quiet.I do not like that the light of the screen is too bright, so I have to stick the cap of a jar with tape to cover the screen and get the night darkness back.The timer for the product has fail after 4 months of use but I have lost the receipt from Myer to claim the warranty. Timer has not affect the performance and functionality of the humidifier, just the device keeps running during the day (if I forget to turn it off) until runs out of water from the tank.In overall an even after the drawbacks, I still recommend and will buy another one one

Humidifier + Free Night Light!

This is a great humidifier. It's easy to fill and runs silently. Don't fill it past the fill line however or you will likely get water everywhere. You can set your desired humidity, also a nice feature.The only lousy thing about this product is the blue led lights on top are very bright. You will want to figure out a way to cover these up at night if you don't like sleeping with a night light in your bedroom.It would be nice if the lights turned off automatically in a dark room like they do on my air purifier.

It's not excessive but quite noticeable if you are sensitive to sound.The fan doesn't run all the time, it runs and apparently is attempting to reach the desired humidity level, then stops and starts again later on when humidity level drops.Sometimes yes the fan seems to go on "turbo" mode suddenly like othres mentionned, perhaps this is at first to speed up the reaching of the humidity level, at those times yes it is quite loudThe filter has started to become a bit yellowish after roughly 5 months of usage nearly on a daily basis. Will see if this needs replacing and when, haven't searched about that yet, nor price for a replacement filter (looks like a sponge-like material in a circular form, shouldn't be too expensive).Seems solid.The water tank, once full, lasts several days before filling up again. We are not filling it up constantly.Conclusion :Good product, nice design, we consider getting a second one to have permanently in each room.

Worried about health due to biocides used in wick

I am yet to use my humidifier as I am trying to source more information on the safety of the wick filters.The biocidal product has been banned in some overseas countries and I would like Phillips to confirm that the wicksare not a health hazard before I use the product.Please explain how the use of Zinc Pyrithione in the filter will not be harmful. I am hoping that you can clearly clarify that breathing water mist from the filter will not harm my health in anyway. Looking forward to your detailed response.

uncleanable

I first bought a unit that stopped working after a year, exchanged it under warranty. The new unit worked well for 2 years but it has become very dusty inside and you cannot really clean it. Even when unscrewing it, one cannot reach the back of the fan.This design is so BAD. It means a perfectly working humidifier will have to be thrown away because it is nearly impossible to clean the dust away.
