There are several pieces to wash when it comes to cleaning this cup, but I actually love the fact that I can take it completely apart and get it cleaned all the way.You cannot go wrong with this cup - wonderful invention!!

We received a free sample of this cup to try out in exchange for our honest opinion. We couldn't really get it to work with our child. The cup works by releasing liquid in the presence of pressure on the center. We didn't get the kind of pressure built for it to flow. I feel this sort of cup design may delay a child from being able to use a regular cup because it compartmentalizes the skill of flow control and the movement needed to drink from a cup. I also don't like that the handles are a permanent fixture. I rather a two handed grip to control the cup rather than flinging it around. Also, a bit of the drink will stay in the lid, so if the child does drop it or fling it around like a flag, that liquid is going places. The assembly is a bit tricky as well, but not ... MoreWe received a free sample of this cup to try out in exchange for our honest opinion. We couldn't really get it to work with our child. As a mom on the go, I appreciate this transitional cup as yet another leak proof Avent design. I received this cup to trial with my daughter. This was quickly followed by only wanting mom`s cup (read: impromptu bath for us both). :) I appreciate that her eagerness to learn was met by this innovative design. While we were trying other cup designs, I ended up with a lot of wet purses and bags. My only other critique would be the number of pieces to wash - six. It is dishwasher friendly though so I can give my dish pan hands a break. :)Overall, I appreciate that this design facilitates on-the-go practice and supports the mastery of `I do it myself`! <3

Great cup if you start earlier than the terrible twos!
2 March 2016

I received a free sample of this product to review, and I was excited because it seemed like it would work great, but unfortunately it didn't work well for my 2 year old. To be fair, my 2 year old is in a very active and somewhat destructive phase now, so the cup leaked quite a bit when she shook it around. She also figured out how to release the liquid from the cup while holding it upside down and pushing on the top.It worked much better for my 4 year old who is a bit more civilized at the table, but not yet super great at controlling a full regular cup.The design is great, the colors are fun and it is really nice that there is a snap top included so that it can be portable.Starting on this cup much earlier (like at 18 months) would probably yield much better ... MoreI received a free sample of this product to review, and I was excited because it seemed like it would work great, but unfortunately it didn't work well for my 2 year old. Great cup!

First, I need to point out that this cup was given to me as a free sample to review. That being said, my review is based solely on our experiences using this cup.We honestly love this cup! It's much more natural to use then the ones with spouts. I think this will make an easier transition to a regular, unlidded cup. It's nearly perfect as far as leakage. The only leaking would be a few drops that remain after drinking. We love the colors, designs, and BPA-free plastic. We don't love the handles though we can live with them. The cup will generally still fit into drink compartments on bags as long as you position the handles correctly.Though the cup is dishwasher safe, we prefer to wash the parts by hand. Great for transitioning
12 February 2016

Very good cup! I've already transitioned my son from a bottle for sippy cup. This cup however, is great for transitioning into regular cups. I received it as a free sample in exchange for writing a review and I'm glad I did! It's great for practicing. You, of course, won't want your child to turn the cup upside down as it does leak. And it also sends liquid out fast so there will be some collateral damage (had a wash several shirts from spillage). But other than that I have no complaints! Took me a couple of tries to assemble it correctly, but I would definitely buy this cup again and intend to actually.

Great stepping stone for learning cup use
25 February 2016

I was fortunate to receive this product for free in exchange for submitting an honest review of the product. Although it took my toddler several days to understand how to drink out of this cup, I have liked it in the end. The concept is nice for busy moms who can't sit attentively with said toddler whenever they want a drink. This is a great tool to teach drinking out of a real cup, without as much risk of spilling the drink all over. However, because my son couldn't see the drink as he tipped it back, it made it challenging for him to know when to stop tipping--therefore he would often still spill it on himself while he was learning. This slowly stopped as he learned. I think an improvement on this design would to have a clear top so the child can watch the drink ... MoreI was fortunate to receive this product for free in exchange for submitting an honest review of the product. I think an improvement on this design would to have a clear top so the child can watch the drink pouring towards them and thus understand the concept of cup drinking even better. Overall I would recommend this as a stepping stone to learning how to independently drink from a cup. Once it it mastered though I can't imagine we will use it much longer.

Not impressed

I received a free sample of this cup in exchange for an honest review. My 18 month old really loves this cup. I think he feels like a "big boy" when he uses it. I, however, am not that impressed. For starters, be sure to keep the instructions around until you have mastered the assembly. After 2 weeks of use, I still haven't totally figured out how it goes together correctly. The clear disc inside goes on both ways, but only one way is correct. The Avent symbol either needs to be facing the top or bottom, and I can never remember which way is correct. My husband refuses to give the cup to my son because he doesn't know how it goes together. When I look for new kids cups, being spill-proof is at the top of my "must-be" list. This could possibly be due to incorrect assembly, but like I said, it fits together either way, which is confusing. I'm not convinced this is the best way to transition from a sippy cup to an open cup.

Perfect cup for a beginner
2 March 2016

I was pleased when I received the Philips Avent sippy cup in the mail to review for my two-year-old daughter. The design is very similar to a regular cup. When the child places their upper lip on the cup the plastic lid/valve moves down to release the liquid. The handles on the side of the cup are really helpful as well, especially if your child has a hard time gripping the sides of a cup without handles. She figured out how to drink from it quickly, we had only used sippy cups with straws before. The cup is easy to take apart and clean, I took it apart and ran it all through the top rack of the dishwasher. There is a plastic lid to prevent leaks and to keep it sterile while not in use. The only negative issue I had was the cup leaks a little bit and you need to provide adult supervision. The liquid can collect on the inside of the lip around the top and when my daughter turned the cup to the side (and upside down) a small amount of milk spilled out. Overall, I am really pleased with the sippy cup and look forward to purchasing a few more to add to my collection.
