As I have progressed through my parenting journey, I have come to appreciate and seek out products that are, well, game-changing.I was fortunate enough to be chosen to receive the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple and bottle as part of the Stellar product Testing Panel and knew just as I was unboxing it that it was like no nipple I had ever tried before.The nipple inherently has a wide shape, which mimics the breast nicely. As a mom who predominantly breastfeeds - this was an important feature for me. The natural response nipple is designed with a unique opening and tip which only releases milk when my baby actively drinks it, there's no spilling here! The no drip tip is perfect for keeping things clean, and especially handy while on the go. I don't ever have to worry about it leaking in our diaper bag, or all over my baby. I do think this feature really helps to reduce gas, and I have noticed a decrease in the amount of burping time.The natural response nipple really mimics the supply and demand of breastfeeding, and it's the best way to combine breast and bottle feeding for my baby. I found that my little one was comfortable using this nipple, and it didn't seem like he struggled to swallow and breathe while feeding.The flow of the nipple is actually perfect for a newborn, as it allows baby to drink, swallow, and breathe in his natural rhythm, much like at the breast (actually better than the breast because of my overactive letdown!). I never found baby to be frustrated with using this bottle, in fact he took to it with great ease! It was such a piece of mind to find a bottle so early that worked so well.I would say the only downside is that because of the double anti-colic valve, it is a touch more difficult to clean than a single layered nipple. But to be quite honest, this is something that I'm willing to deal with to get the results that we have.Thanks again stellar product testing panel for sending this awesome bottle along! I was given this bottle nipple set to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My babe is 4 months, exclusively breastfed and I wanted to try to give her a bottle so I could have some independence to leave the house. My first baby was fully bottle fed and we used a different brand that had a lot of parts and was more difficult to clean, so right off the bat this was an attractive choice- it has no weird crevices or unnecessary components to it and is very easy to put together with the bottle. The wide shape of the nipple does mimic the breast well for latching purposes and it didn’t leak at all when I had milk in the bottle. With this nipple, it’s natural to take 2-3 tries to get milk flowing, and I think that was frustrating for a baby that has never taken a bottle. I was hopeful to try the flow 1 nipple to try and mimic the breast but I almost feel like this would have been more appropriate for a newborn or babies who are used to sucking enthusiastically with a bottle, as it took quite a bit of sucking to get the milk to flow. I am definitely going to give this more chances as I like the idea that the baby controls the flow of the milk, and this is the only nipple I’ve heard of in the market that does this. I think if your baby already takes a bottle and is used to it, this nipple would be a lovely way to reduce nipple confusion.

We were pleased to see that they were another product by Phillips Avent, as these are the nipples that we already used on our bottles and like the wide slope of them, which encourages baby to have a better latch. My newborn is a keen drinker and the regular nipples, even with the low flow, I found he was chugging them back and as a result had a lot of hiccups, so we were excited to use these new natural response nipples, which are supposed to be more like drinking from mom. My little guy had troubles figuring these out. He was sucking away, but the first two tries he couldn’t get anything out. We tried both the lowest flow nipple and the next one up to see if it would make a difference for him, but he struggled and got increasingly frustrated. My baby is 5 weeks and exclusively breast fed, but he has taken Avent bottles for top ups or the rare time I am out. On the third try he was able to start getting milk out. I could tell the difference when he actually got it out that his suck/swallow slowed down and he calmed down. It allowed him to drink slowly, at his own pace. So far though, it takes him a very long time to get through the amount of milk he needs to drink, so I think there is still some learning to do, on his part. We will keep offering it to him and try the different flows to see if we can help him too. I like that with these nipples he isn’t chugging it back and getting the hiccups, but I don’t want it to take him forever to get through a bottle either. I see the potential of this product and am hoping he learns how to use it.
