I was not convinced that the addition of another bulky appliance was justified. I did a lot of research and, for me, the jury was still out. Yes there were potential positives but did it really do anything my fan forced oven did not do. Two of our daughters purchased the large Philips AF and both raved about its functionality. I happened to see the smaller and much less expensive Compact AF by Philips and decided to make the more modest investment. Surprisingly we are delighted. Yes it does not do more than the oven but it does it more quickly and without a significant warm up period which makes it much more economical in these days of rising power costs. Hence we use it frequently, enjoy the results and save money as well.

I have to say that this is my second air fryer (another brand not being mentioned) and I had always found them a 'leave in the cupboard most of the time' devices.... However this little guy has changed my opinion completely! When I first opened the box (after my cat decided to let me do so - pic attached!) I was struck by how compact it is. This worried me as to capacity, but I needn't have been concerned as it is surprising how much you can fit into it despite it's diminutive size. As you can see form the pics I can easily fit in two large fish cakes PLUS chips! Absolutely great as in 20 minutes everything was cooked to perfection. I have mainly used it to cook fish and chips to be honest, as it just does it so much better than my oven... I have mainly used it to cook fish and chips to be honest, as it just does it so much better than my oven... I mean A LOT BETTER... the fish is succulent and crispy, and the chips are lovely, with no oily residue. For this I simply used the 'Frozen Chips' preset. which seemed to give the perfect balance of heat and time. I did do some marinaded chicken drumsticks in it too... At first I put it on a little hot (as I hadn't realised I should really lower suggested temperatures from the packets as it is so much more efficient than my oven. Once I did this they came out brilliantly - really really juicy. Also one day I had some chips left over from a trip to my local chippy - so I popped them in the fridge and decided to try and heat them up the following day. Usually this results in either 'charcoal sticks' or sogginess.... not now! They came out great - just like they were when I got them fresh.... I was very impressed. I notice that you can also get a 'baking kit' - which I will seriously now buy, as I am convinced it will bake cakes just as well as it does the rest. Plus I notice there is also a little grille piece and skewer set as well... the two tier grill piece would be great to do more food, although I suspect you would need to lower temps a bit more to stop the stuff on the top burning. My Mum has been ill over my test period, so being able to get delicious and nutritious food cooked quickly and with almost no mess was perfect - Oh yes forgot to add how easy it is to clean. The food residue just falls off with almost no washing - and it's really easy to dry. This was one reason my previous fryer was not used, as it was such a pain to clean... Philips have done a really good job on making this one effortless to clean. I did cook some stuff using the manual temp/time settings, and that's how I realised about the lower required temps, however the presets are very accurate and so you hardly need to use the manual way. I did also use the 'keep warm function' for my chicken drumsticks, as they cooked so quick I wasn't actually hungry by the time they were done - it kept them warm without drying them out. I did also load up the app, and saw lots of great recipes. I didn't have time to try them due to my Mum being ill, but I am DEFINITELY GOING TO!!! There is only ONE NEGATIVE thing about this fryer, and that is the instructions (or lack of them). I have never had such a hard time finding an instruction leaflet, indeed if I hadn't been testing it for Philips, and so had a link included in one of the emails, I doubt I would have found them! Although you can get to grips with the machine without them, I recommend Philips either add them to the box, or give a CLEAR LINK to them in the package.... but really that's my only gripe.

I wasn't expecting how much I would love this airfryer. I'm the type of person who has appliances hidden away in the cupboard, but this airfryer demands to be seen! The sleek design is certainly one reason to keep it out on the side all the time, but another reason is that in all honesty, it just gets used so much! First thing that most people would do when you get an airfryer? Make chips! So with eagerness to test it out I cut some spuds and threw on seasonings. I had no clue what I was doing or how long they needed to go on for so at this point I was just winging it. They turned out amazing! A review from a friend; "they taste like a jacket potato which has been left to cook in the settling embers of a dying bonfire" I downloaded the NutriU app, which I can honestly say has been a godsend for getting the time and temperature correct! Plus the recipes are healthy and full of good stuff. I can only add limited photos, but the ones I've added and personal favorites from the app are Filled Peppers, Breaded Mushrooms, and Apple + Raisin Bread Pudding. All were absolutely delicious and much more simple than I expected too! There is still so much that I want to try from the app specifically, but can say it also gets a lot of daily use. Sausages are a breeze now, plus anything frozen. The Airfryer has an easily removable basket, with one press of the ebutton you can remove the basket from the base tray. This makes for very easy cleaning. All in all, I'm so happy with this airfryer and the fact I have the use of this amazing app, that I don't think I'll ever let go of it!

Perfect size for a household of 2-3 people. Cooks better than our other brand as it seals better and is a smarter design. Easy to clean. I would prefer digital temperature and time buttons rather than turn dials as it would be easier to set the desired time and temperature but I still think this is a great air fryer and value for money (was on sale for $129) A compact size that’s easy to store in the cupboard and not clutter the bench top when not in use. We love it for roasts, chicken schnitzel, chips, heating bread rolls and even cheese on crumpets. Cooked before the griller even heats up! Perfect for caravan or camping!
I've never used an airfryer before, so I was really looking forward to seeing if this lived up to the hype. On first impression, purely on appearance, it looked sleek and minimal and looked lovely in my kitchen. It also seemed really straightforward and easy to use, so much so, that I didn't even look for the user guide. Having unpacked and set it up, I was very excited to try it out. On the first use, I found it as simple as I expected, just a case of setting the temperature and then the timer. Having never used a airfryer before, I had no idea of how loud they were supposed to be, however, my husband commented on how noisy it was while he was in the next room. On the first use, I found it as simple as I expected, just a case of setting the temperature and then the timer. Having never used a airfryer before, I had no idea of how loud they were supposed to be, however, my husband commented on how noisy it was while he was in the next room. The tray was really easy to take out and to clean afterwards and although it was deep, and big enough for what I used it for, bigger families may need a bigger tray. I cooked several different things using the airfryer, such as chips, vegetables, chicken and sausages and have been really pleased with the results when compared to using a conventional oven. The food was crisp on the outside , evenly cooked and cooked very quickly. The only issue I found was that the cooking guidelines on the top of the fryer weren't too accurate, with some things cooking a lot quicker than stated, so you really have to keep a check on the food. I would have liked to try more recipes from the nutri u app which is associated with this product, as there are so many suggestions on there, however, as I only had the slotted tray, this was not possible. I'm very pleased with my airfryer and use it for anything I can. It's been a complete gamechanger for me and has made cooking, something which I've never enjoyed, so much easier, particularly when you're a busy mum. I use my oven a lot less, with the food tasting so much better in the airfryer. Despite a few little niggles (and I was really struggling to find any!) it's completely exceeded my expectations.
My airfryer is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen after my gas range. It is really a mini convection oven for small quantities of food. I live alone, and the capacity is perfect for one or two. Also, power usage is much less than the big convection oven on my range. Cleanup is a snap: spray with hot water, wipe with a soapy sponge, spray to remove the detergent, and dry the basket assembly. While the basket is rated safe for the dishwasher, it's far more convenient to simply hand wash. Phillips website offers dozens of practical recipes and I'm slowly working my way through them. I recommend the Brussels sproyts.
I purchased this productas my wife and myself are now in early 80s and trying to make normal everyday tasks abit easier to carry out. We therefore ,after much research, that an Air cooker wouldbe simpler to use than a full size oven and easier to clean. The reality has been how ever that instructions are no wqhere full enough for us to use this machine for all our basic cooking requirements, i.e coking sausages only instructs cooking THIN sausages and we use the standard size ones. However lack proper detailed instructions have meant that we cannot use this as me had wished and expected. VERY disappointing
I bought this as it is simple to operate and big enough for 1 or 2 people. The unit itself looks exactly like the photo and looks good on the kitchen bench. Not as compact in size as I was expecting but it’s not huge like some of the other air fryers. Followed the cooking instructions and cooked frozen chips first. I shook the drawer about twice during the cooking process (about 15 min) and they were perfect golden fries. It also cooks yummy chicken legs, frozen fish, sausage rolls etc. I am not a cook and I thought I might be wasting my money, but I love using this air fryer. So simple to use and basically foolproof if you don’t overfill the basket or forget to shake it mid way in the cooking time. I sometimes do 3 shakes.
The ultimate goal in having an air fryer is that it makes for being super convenient and a healthy way to make a meal specially if you're pressed for time. No need to wait to pre heat an oven, having to add any fats or oils to your foods or use the many pots/pans and wash endless dishes. Choose the food you're cooking, place in the basket, set the temp and timer and you're all ready go. What I have noticed is the timer is NOT accurate though. It seems to take longer then it should. If I set it to 25 minutes to cook chicken thigh, that 25 minutes wound up being 30+ minutes. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or is it because you have to pull out the basket to either shake or turn over the food a couple of times during the cooking process. The temps and times used for cooking is only ideal if your basket is filled to the capacity line. Using anything less, you will have to monitor the cooking time as it will get done quicker then the recommended time. Also, if needing to turn off the timer manually, it is VERY HARD to turn back the dial to zero to turn off and the timer bell is not loud enough to alert you it's done. The numbers on the dials for the timer and temp setting are very hard to see. Very small to be able to set correctly the settings so you wound up cooking at a higher/lower temp then you intend as well as longer/shorter time period . I'm personally not fond of this particular unit and seems more work then it's suppose to be BUT for other, it might just suit them to a T.
Before trying the air fryer, I never would have purchased one and saw it as something that I really didn't need and that would be relegated to the cupboard after a few uses. The fact we haven't used the oven since receiving the air fryer speaks for itself. My partner, a chef, commented that it is frighteningly convenient. The air fryer is super convenient if pushed for time as you don't have to wait for it to heat up as you would a conventional oven. The basket could be a bit bigger but does well for 2 people if you are cooking a side of chips for example or the meat portion of a meal. I have tried cooking everything from asparagus, to sausages and chicken thighs, to calzone and Croque Monsieur. Jacket potatoes were particularly delicious, with lovely crispy skin and fluffy middles. I have found that I can just leave it to do it's thing without constantly checking and turning items, which is great for freeing up time to do other household tasks. The analogue timer is slightly hard to get the exact time you are looking for as it's an egg timer affair with some resistance, putting it back to zero if you have finished before the timer pings feels like you are forcing it and I am slightly worried about the longevity of this knob. The basket and fat catcher are really easy to clean being non stick and size wise it doesn't take up that much counter space. This version is ideal for a single person or couple and I can also see it being really useful for students.
