A great iron

In purchasing this iron, I did some research, checked other reviews and Choice website, which was what sold me. I cannot understand how the iron can be used on linen to delicate fabrics without burning, but it works!! The water compartment is a little difficult to see through, but if you jiggle it around you can see the water level. I’m quite happy with my purchase.

Absolute rubbish

Disappointed is an understatement! I bought this to replace my old iron but it does not heat up enough to get rid of creases and the cord is to short. I tried the steam function to see if that would help but that made no difference. I was hoping a new iron would reduce my ironing time but I couldn’t be more mistaken and my old iron although at the end of its life did a better job! I have returned this product and strongly do not recommend!

Delivered what promised.

I was a bit worried that how it is going to perform without a heat regulator. However it is working fine on every types of clothes and somehow manage to keep its temperature down so that clothes don’t get burned. It expects to be energy efficient as every time you rest it vertically it automatically powered off and set itself to standby. Even if you come back 10 mins later it is not going to use energy to keep heating to a certain temperature. It quickly catches up to heat up again depending on clothes. To be honest I have stopped noticing that it doesn’t have a heat regulator. Promised and delivered as advertised.

Greatly Disappointing I will return for refund

This iron is a great disappointment. My last Philips iron was the Philips Azur Ionic (which was excellent). After 11 years of service, it needed replacing. I do a fair amount of ironing, so the salesperson recommended this iron for its advanced technology. Now, I must say, credit where credit is due - it glides wonderfully! I am happy with how the iron feels to iron with. However, that is the best thing the iron has going for it. Now to the areas of concern. Before we even start ironing - the cord is short. The previous iron had a cord length of 3.13m and this iron has a cord length of only 2m, so you need an extension cord to operate efficiently. The previous iron had a cord length of 3.13m and this iron has a cord length of only 2m, so you need an extension cord to operate efficiently. I assume this is just a cost cutting measure on Philips behalf, trying to minimize production costs, but seriously, how much would they really be saving on 1m of cord?? The water tank is almost invisible, so you can't actually tell how much water is in the tank. You have to hold the iron up to a bright light or up to the window before you can see how much water there is, otherwise you have to shake the iron and listen for the sound of the water moving inside the iron. A clear tank window as in previous models would be beneficial. I didn't have any real problem with the heat up time - it was about standard time to heat up. The issue I have is the temperature that it heats up to. Even with the steam turned on, I found the iron ineffective to remove wrinkles on several different fabric types. Even basic cotton was a challenge. I found myself having the put downwards pressure on the iron, trying the force the wrinkles out. You have to run over the same section multiple times to get the wrinkles out - so it greatly increases the amount of time it takes to iron something. The iron also leaks. While the leaking water doesn't cause any damage, you then have to iron the water patches out to dry the fabric. Not ideal. I purchased this iron during a 101 day trial promotion. I will definitely be taking advantage of this, and returning the iron. Sorry Philips - no good for me!

If you want to lengthen your ironing time, buy thi
18 July 2022

The iron simply doesn't get hot enough for cotton or linen. It took me 30 mins to iron 2 pairs of chinos and one shirt. I purchased it in March 2022 and have been unhappy with it since I bought it. The calc clean doesn't seem to work either. Also, the cord is far too short. I am so unhappy with this iron that I bought another brand with a temperature dial and a longer cord.

I bought this, as was intrigued by the optimal temperature feature. It appears nothing more than setting an iron on lowest (silk?) then pumping slightly more steam in there. As a 50 yr old man, most of my stuff is cotton. Instead, get the highest wattage and steam output. Give this creation to children, who don't know how to iron a shirt. It took me 4 times as long to iron a shirt as normal

Not fit for purpose
7 March 2023

Wished I’d read other reviews before I wasted my time. Lead too short, no measuring cup, can’t see how much water in tank. This iron leaked from the minute I tuned it on and I didn’t even manage to iron 1 garment before I decided to take it back to store. It didn’t take any creases out and never heated up enough to do so. This is the first time I’ve ever takenback an electrical appliance on the same day. Extremely disappointed as I had been recommended Philips irons

Not good enough Philips!
25 January 2023

You couldn't see the water level because the iron is so dark. The heating up is unpredictable. Sure, its safe on synthetics but really unsatisfactory on cottons , let alone linen. Worst of all it dribbled water on my fabric. Sad fail. Try harder Philips!

Not worth it
6 February 2023

The heating power is so low, that getting the creases done is just not possible. Due to so called automatic detection of fibre, which i doubt it ever does it, the heat stays quite low and only the wrinkle free clothes get ironed properly. Forget anything like jeans or linen shirts. I am planning to return it.

So we are resorting to shaking the iron to see if there's a sloshing sound, then topping up if there isn't. Future improvement – fit a small LED in the water container, or go back to making the water container out of clear plastic.[3] There is an inordinate amount of time before the flashing heating light stops, denoting that the iron is at the correct heat (the advertising for the GC3929/64 says "Delivers a fast warm-up and powerful performance").[4] What is the push and hold steam button do? The instruction manual says (in 35 different languages) Push and hold. ps. If you search for this feature on the Philips web site it comes up with no hits.[5] The iron drops trails of water every so often – this doesn't stain the clothes, but for a brand new iron that's a terrible feature (the advertising for the GC3929/64 says "Drip-stop keeps garments spotless while ironing").The first steam iron was patented in 1882 – it’s sad to think that 136 years later man can fly into space but the GC3929 is a state of the art steam iron.
