I have a house full of V1 switches. They've worked well for me for almost a decade. Honestly, they're basically perfect and changed how I interact with the lights in my house. I had thought that wasn't a big deal, but it's surprising how often in these old New England houses it makes sense to have a lightswitch inside for an outside area, or at the top of the basement stairs, etc. On day 2 we had a situation where my wife turned the outside lights off, then I pressed the toggle button and accidentally turned them all back on, then we walked out to the car and had to walk back in to turn them off again. Hopefully as they build out the software we'll have some sort of solution for an absolute on button and an absolute off button. But as is, I'm going to have to juggle some old switches into new positions, for any lights we can't physically see from the switch.

Great new version of the switch but unfortunately they have now made the base plate larger than a standard light switch plate. Perhaps not an issue standing alone but looks odd when placed next to standard Aus size switch plates.

We have started using the Hue lights in many locations in our home. Biggest problem we have is there are places we just can’t use it because it doesn’t fit the standard switch plate and cannot be integrated with other lights. Bummer. Like the other Reviewer this is a major disappointment and deterrent for us.

Looks good and works great. Only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't fit in a decora wall plate and Phillips doens't offer any solution to make it work as such. I had to buy a 3d printed wall plate off Etsy. Maybe Phillips should split this into two products and offer a remote and then offer a wall switch instead of trying to do both. Also, since all my other lights in this room have 3-way switches, I bought two of these and use them both in the same room. Only other tiny complaint is that each dimmer step is a bit more than I'd like, or at least more than I'm used to with my Lutron dimmers.
New version has a slick modern design and a single button for on/off and a separate Hue button for scenes. Mounted on a wall you can barely notice the switch if you have light coloured walls. Quick response to button presses and has not yet failed on me yet.
To address other complaints below: 1. There are numerous 3rd party adapters which allow you to put this switch in a standard decora wall plate…a simple Amazon search will reveal multiple options, I use them all the time. 2. I too would LOVE to see this switch in any kind of black…I frequently design and build dark rooms and the only other hue comparable switch available in the US that come in black or any other colors are the runless wireless clock switches which I hate and they don’t work half of the time. 3. Biggest complaint about these switches and the current situation with HUE period is that they’re constantly sold out of everything I need (basically these switches and the GU10 bulbs) and usually with months long lead times. Other than all of that these dimmers are great the newest version build quality is significantly better, if you get the hue dynamic app then you can add up to 10 functions per button greatly increasing the amount of pre sets you can cycle through. Signify, please get your production and supply chain issues sorted so I can keep buying your products!
These works perfectly for my older home without a wall switch. Many of my lights had pull switches so without hiring an electrician I was able to hook these up myself. I'm back to buy more and sadly they are out of stock. On/Off and dimmable, just enough features to keep the remote simple. Many of the so called competitors lights found online have too many features making their remotes confusing. I use these without the hub and just the assigned bulbs work when the remote is pressed. No need to have my phone nearby.
I was a bit hesitant to purchase the 2nd Gen dimmer switch at first as I have a number of 1st Gen dimmer switch and knew the switches has changed slightly. However I found the addition of the hue button to include the different scenes to be useful and the combination of the on/off buttons to work seamlessly.
Very easy to setup and use! It came with a battery as well which made it much more convenient. It’s so simple to change the brightness, scenes and turn on and off my hue lights with this remote. Highly recommend.
the hue switch design has changed, so it doesn't match the others in my house. most rooms of my house have the old layout: on at the top, off at the bottom. but this new switch the top button is both on and off (toggle) - so we are endlessly pushing the wrong buttons.
