These lights are beautifully designed and the lights themselves are a quality build. The problem with the system, and why I’m returning it, is the wireless control implementation. Instead of building the “brain” into the power supply and sending control signals through the line, each light has its own Zigbee receiver. Supposedly each light acts as a repeater for the control signals, but in actual use it didn’t seem to work well. The light closest to my house connected OK, but lights further from the hub failed to connect, even though they should have been I range of one another. If you have a small yard, this system might work for you, but anything more than 20 feet or so from the Hue hub and you’re going to have problems.

I added this light to an established Hue household. With hue bulbs in most rooms. Obviously with this lamp it is a bit different than fitting a bulb. With some minor assembly and needing to plug and route some cables. All very simple and straightforward stuff. The lamp comes with two fitting options one to fit to a wall and spike to put in the ground. As a individual lamp this required a separate power supply, if you buy the starter pack this is included. A hue bridge is also required, which allows control from the app one the light has been linked. Additional lights can be added to the power cables installed, allowing you to grow the system over time.

First impression of the luminaire: super workmanship. Unpacked, connected, set up, integrated into the bridge - running. Then wait for darkness. Was a bit nervous because of some reviews about the luminosity. The hour of truth... would our 4m palm finally please us also at night with her habitus... Bingo. Perfect. You won't be able to completely illuminate a 30m tree with a spotlight, but the lamp is ideal for great accents. Have ordered directly still another 3er set... Conclusion: if you want to set shining accents in the garden, you are best equipped with Lily. Those who want floodlighting will certainly find more suitable luminaires at DIY stores. We are completely satisfied!

I thought these lights might be a poor build quality. But actually Phillips have again designed a fantastic lighting product. It was easy to setup , make sure you read the instructions before setting up so you can add the lights to you hue Bridge app seamlessly. Each light throws a decent amount of light and has a good spectrum of colours. Using the colour themes play button makes my outdoor lighting look amazing. I'm bringing mine back indoors as I don't want them out in winter. But as long as you install them correctly outdoors than they will perform and look great. I give mine a wipe down periodically.

We have the hub and the extension cable kit and the instructions made it clear how each bit worked together. The connections between the cables is secure but as a result is a little bit fiddly. Once the light was plugged in the next step was downloading the Hue app, connecting to the hub and playing around with it! We also connected it to Alexa and had fun asking her to turn the light to obscure colours - and it worked! My only gripe is that each light is expensive but hopefully they will last - they certainly feel very good quality. Metal, rather than plastic, and tough cables. The Philips Hue Lily spotlight is the first 'smart' lighting solution that I've used outside and I'll definitely look at adding to the setup based on my experience so far.. This is also my first Hue product in general, having a few other brands of smart products around the house and it compares really well with these products so is, again, a brand that I would consider when expanding my smart ecosystem. Initial set up was nice and straight forward - including the setup of the hub, and only took 5 minutes or so to get things up and running. Things got a bit more tricky when trying to find the perfect placement for the light due to range though. The light itself seems well made, robust and looks likely to withstand the elements, but I guess only time will tell with ... The various scenes and colour selections will mean that this spotlight will be at home in pretty much any garden and will suit a variety of personal tastes. You should be aware that the light will only really provide ambiance (the clue is in the product name) and does not put out enough brightness to be your only light source in the garden. The app to control the lights is super easy to use and integrates well with Google home, giving you voice control if required. The only downsides of this light that I've found are pretty minimal and if these things don't bother you, or you can get over them then the Lily can be a great addition to your garden 1) The light requires the use of a separate hub, which requires power and a direct wired connection to your router. This mean quite a bit of juggling around for me with other devices located near to my router. 2) The range of the wireless connection to the hub isn't great. This can be improved by introducing other hue products as they act as a network to extend the range, but in my case this was not possible, and again meant I was limited to where the spotlight could be placed, or rearrangement of my router and hub placement within the house.
Pros: Very well made. Great price at the moment. The ability to use this as a smart light is superb. Customisation of colours keeps it fresh. Cons: The connectors are quite large as too are the cable. I know this is for weather proofing and safety but I’d have thought the connector would be just as effective half the size. Not a huge issue. Could be more powerful.
Quick and painless installation. Very high-quality cables between lights. Easy setup and activation with existing Hue hub. I've been considering these for a long time to add a little character to the house lighting. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for applies here. I recommend these to anyone with a decent budget. I installed the maximum 5 on one power supply.

Feels nice and robust with a good bracket which can be screw mounted and also a ground spike so is very easy to mount straight out of the box. It has a bracket which can be angled as you require. It links well to the hue bridge which is located quite a distance away from the garden deck. The app it works alongside is great and you can change the warmth of the bulb, colour and brightness. You can also set a timer so it comes on at dusk for example. Very useful if you want to have softer lighting around some seating or maybe some stronger feature lighting in the garden borders having the function to choose brightness and colour of the lighting. Solid, totally weatherproof and come with everything you need to install. I installed these in the mud and the rain, and they worked perfectly first time. They have fantastic build quality with an all metal casing. I have no doubts about their long term weather resistance.
