Although I have not used this for long at all, I've tested it in three different scenarios: 1. Dry Shave, 2. Shaving Cream in the Shower 3. Shave with Pre-Shave I would have to say that I was quite impressed in every situation. There was no irritation to the skin whatsoever shaving dry, and that was the first shave with an electric razor in over 15 years. So, my skin had no preparation. Using it in the shower with shaving cream gave a closer shave while using Ron's Natural Pre-Shave obviously gave the cleanest shave. My observations were that it does take longer to shave, but not by much if you consider that you don't need time to allow the shaving cream to soak in and having to clean up that mess afterwards. My observations were that it does take longer to shave, but not by much if you consider that you don't need time to allow the shaving cream to soak in and having to clean up that mess afterwards. The second thing I noticed is that it doesn't get as close of a shave as a conventional razor, but almost as close. If you rub the whiskers against the grain, you might feel 5 - 10% more nubbles at most, but that depends on your own beard. I would safely say that all electric razors regardless of brand or price will provide similar results. I haven't used the popup trimmer, so I can't speak to that, but I would think it to be a plus for those who would benefit from it. It is a sinch to clean. Push the button to pop open the head and rinse it under running water. Charging can be done quickly, just 5 minutes if you find the battery fully drained. The razor feels good in the hand and easy to grip. It comes with its own charger, and the travel pouch is really nice. The good thing is that it has replaceable heads, so unless you drop it in the shower and break it, this razor should last many years. It is very thoughtful of the manufacturer to give you 45 days to try it out. I know I will keep mine. Why did I change from a conventional razor to an electric razor? There are a few reasons. I was running late to appear before some business colleagues on a Zoom meeting. In a rush to get ready, I nicked my face in several places. Some, like me can bleed for a while before clotting. I decided right then and there that I was going to purchase an electric razor. The second reason is that this will be cheaper in the long run. Third, I don't have to run to the store to get razors or shaving cream because I forgot the last time I was out shopping. Last, because I now can use a natural substance on my face without any harmful chemicals. I used Old Rons Barber Company Pre Shave Splash.

Iāve used an older version of Philips shaver for about 6 years now, so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I like what theyāve done with the newer version. The shape is slightly more squared off now, plus theyāve added some textured grip areas which make it much easier to hold. The best thing to me, though, is that instead of a bulky power brick for charging it now just comes with a USB-A charging cable. So that makes it much easier to charge at home, but especially to charge while traveling. It still uses the standard SH30 blades, so itās easy to get replacements when needed. They recommend replacing them every year, but Iāve gone at least three years with no problems. The three shaver heads can now tilt towards the center which seems to have improved how it follows the contour of my face.I always use it dry, and I think it does a great job that way. You do have to move in small circles and go over an area a few times to catch all the hairs, but overall, I think itās still faster shaving this way than the old shaving cream and razor method. When I first switched over to shaving this way, it took my skin a few weeks to get used to it. But now it feels perfectly normal, and I almost never have any irritation or ingrown hairs.I like the lithium-ion battery, run time, and power of this new shaver. I think it runs at a little higher RPM than the old one, so it does a little better job shaving. The runtime is advertised as 60 minutes. Iāve never timed it, but I shave every other day and only charge it once per week. Iām sure I could go longer, but I just keep to that schedule. I also like that this shaver now has a battery level indicator (three bars) that comes on briefly when you turn it on. The old shaver would only light up amber when the battery was low, so you never really knew for sure how charged it was until it was too low.Itās super easy to clean out when youāre done. The head just flips open, and you can run it under the faucet to flush it out. I usually take the head off and shake the excess water out of both pieces, then snap it back together and leave it open to dry.Like my older model, it also has a flip out trimmer on the back. At first, I didnāt think Iād use that at all, but itās surprisingly useful to keep not only your sideburns trimmed, but other hair as well. Iāve used it to catch some stray hairs around my ears, neck, etc.I hate shaving and the time it takes, but I feel like switching to an electric shaver has allowed me to get back some of that time. Itās fast, convenient, and I can also multitask while shaving so it doesnāt feel like Iām wasting as much time. Iām glad I switched, and I would buy another shaver just like this if something happened to it.

I have been using Norelco shavers for over 30 years and have always had great luck with them. I currently have the 5000 and 9500 series shavers. This 3600 performs exceptionally well. It provides a nice close shave. The head is mounted on a rubberized base so in addition to the floating heads the main head moves up and down as well to better conform to your face. I was really surprised at how quiet this shaver is. Quieter than both the 5000 and 9500 series shavers. This may be due to the fact that the blades do not appear to spin as fast as the other 2 shavers but does not appear to affect the performance of the shave. The shaver has a pop-up trimmer that works well as have all my Norelco shavers. It is light weight and comfortable in your hand. I have not used it enough to deplete the battery and it appears to last a reasonable amount of time. Interesting enough the shaver now comes with a USB charging cable. The end that connects to the shaver is the standard figure 8 style plug but the power side is USB and does not come with a charging block. This is not an issue as most buyers should have a drawer full of charging blocks. I ran the battery down to see how long it would take to charge and it was surprisingly fast to charge. There are only LEDs to show the level of charge as opposed to the 9500 series that indicates in percentages but it works. The shaver comes with a carrying bag but I am using the hard case that came with one of my other Norelco shavers. It also comes with a cap to cover the shaving head which some Norelcoās do not. The shaver can be used dry or wet and can be rinsed under water to clean. It does not come with a cleaning brush which is strange as every other Norelcoās I have ever had always came with one. There is a card included that directs you to register the shaver and you will receive an additional 6 months of warranty. I can say that I have Norelco shavers that are still working after 10 years. I think the only one I ever had an issue with is when it would no longer charge and it was at least 5 years old. As always Norelco has a great product that performs well and provides and great shave for the money. I am really happy with this shaver and find it to be a great value.

Iām in no way coordinated enough to use a straight blade razor on a regular basis, not to mention, plain olā lazy. While they hands-down provide the closest shave, using them is time consuming, requires prep, and most of all, coordination. Something Iāve never been accused of having.Foil razors provide a decent shave and are a direct competitor to the Norelco, but for me they just donāt work. They provide a nice, smooth, clean shave on my face, but canāt cut it (literally) on my neck. They leave too many whiskers untouched and trying to get those whiskers becomes such a chore that I would have been better off with a straight blade. Not to mention the razor burn.Iāve always found Norelco products to be the best compromise of all the solutions on the market. Every new iteration of the Norelcoās prove to shave your face just a little closer and better than the last. The gap between the rotaries and the straight blades have closed enough over the years that straight blades to me, just arenāt worth the hassle. The ā5Dā pivoting head works well to follow the contours of your face, neck, and jaw line. Light years ahead of my old Norelcoās where only the blades flexed a little on a stationary head. Now that Norelco has water-proofed their razors to the point you can use them wet or dry, the closeness gap has decreased significantly. As has the overall comfort level of shaving. A little soap and or shave lotion in the shower virtually eliminates any form of skin irritation. The ability to use it with a rotary razor, in the shower is game changing. Rotary head razors always used to leave my skin feeling itchy and irritated, no so much now that I donāt have to shave dry all the time. The new 3600 is an evolutionary step forward from the outgoing 3500. Most everything about the 3500 carries over to the new one. One of those, if it aināt broke donāt fix it. All the key features from the 3500 are still intact, including the 5D pivoting head, wet and dry shaving ability, and the 1-hour rapid charge.Anyone that has ever used or owned a rotary head razor will have no issues figuring it out. The trimmer for your sideburns is still intact, as is the flip open head for cleaning. Things that I remember my dadās old Norelco having decades ago.The only real flaw I can find with the Norelco 3600 is the charging cable. The 3600 charges via a standard USB-A charger. However, instead of a standardized USB (micro, mini, USB-C) connection on the other end, they chose to use a 2-pin connector. While this has been the mainstay for Norelco for years, it also means another charging cable I must take with me on vacation. Norelco missed an opportunity to utilize a standard USB connection, simplifying charging and traveling.Aside from the one small quibble, there isnāt much not to like about the new Norelco 3600.Recommended.
I've got a pretty sensitive face and usually resort to good ol' fashion shaving cream and razor blades while showering. In the past I have tried and abandoned electric razors because of razor burn. Pop the screen and run under water and then give it a good shake. The travel case is a bit of a disappointment and not a consideration for the purchase of this shaver. It offers little protection to the shaver but more of keeping any stubble in the shaver from getting on clothing when tossed in luggage. The shaver is supplied with a USB-A charging cable and no charger itself. While I understand that most folks have a handful of chargers with smartphones those are quickly going away. You can plug into a laptop to charge but that's really not convenient in my opinion. Of course they will happily sell you the optional charger. I even rummaged around and found the charger from a previousl Philips shaver but unfortunately the tip that plugs into the shaver is not compatible.
The handheld electrical battery shaver market has matured to the point itās mostly an afterthought to most. Gone are the days these things were a fabulous piece of luxury tech and cost $300 as the perfect Fathers Day present with impressive gadgets made of tin and aluminum foil and body. This 3600 shaver model features 5D pivot and flex heads that conform and glide over your face as you shave. It can also be used wet or dry with gel and shave creams, although I have been using it dry and havenāt had any irritation. After using it a few days I really have no complaints about performance and cut quality, which obviously isnāt quite as good as a disposable or straight razor. For me this is perfect for keeping in the car or even in my home office for a quick cleanup ...Ā MoreThe handheld electrical battery shaver market has matured to the point itās mostly an afterthought to most. After using it a few days I really have no complaints about performance and cut quality, which obviously isnāt quite as good as a disposable or straight razor. For me this is perfect for keeping in the car or even in my home office for a quick cleanup before zoom calls or while driving to work. I like to shave in the shower but now that Iām older with kids and mornings are rushed, I havenāt been showering in the morning and dry shaving with a disposable razor isnāt great feeling and doesnāt have the same results without shave cream. The 3600 does great in this regard as I can do a quick shave in the morning that is better than a dry razor can do.The only negatives and reason I took off a star is for the following:1. Phillips provides a proprietary charging cable that still needs usb-a source or wall wart to charge. Why not just use usb-c instead? Now I have an extra cable that is orientation dependent I need to worry about losing? Thatās really annoying.2. Replacement heads sh30 cost $25, so itās not really that much cheaper than disposable razors if you replace the heads every 12 months as recommended.3. The body and feel of the shaver is pretty cheap feeling as mentioned, a combo of mostly rubbery plastic and a far cry from the metal body units of the past. Youāre not going to impress anyone with this as a gift thatās for sure.It gets the job done but otherwise this 3600 like most electric shavers nowadays is pretty unremarkable.
The Philips Norelco Shaver 3600 is a solid shaver solution with some mixed upgrades.Iāve been using Norelco shavers for decades and have yet to find one that does not produce a good, clean electric shave. Theyāve simply dialed in whatās currently the best electric solution to a daily shave at an affordable price. They do offer some higher-priced solutions which are exceptional, but those in the range of the 3600 are just plain good. As far as a great daily shave, the 3600 is another solid product. However, I do have one gripe regarding the 3600 and that is the charging solution. Being a long-time user of Norelco shavers Iām familiar with the unique connector all of my units have used. Being a long-time user of Norelco shavers Iām familiar with the unique connector all of my units have used. For some reason, the 3600 brings a change that is only halfway towards being useful - so itās a nuisance for me instead. Although it retains nearly the same unique configuration for plugging into the unit as prior units have used, it introduces a notch so that I cannot use my previous charger interchangeably, as Iām used to doing. Not only that, but it does not come with a charging unit, only a cord that goes from a standard USB to the Norelco connector (in this case only fitting into the 3600). Why? This creates the need to keep a USB charger block and the new, proprietary cord with me. This is a blunder on Norelcoās part which I hope they will correct soon. The best solution would be to change their unique configuration and replace it with something standard like a USB-C connection - or leave it as it has been. The thing is, Norelco shavers are great and long-lasting. So I assume thereās a need to create some kind of upgrades in order to induce fresh sales. With the 3600, I like the enhanced feel of the grip, the improved release-switch for cleaning, and the subtle style accents and custom shave-head cover. If only they hadnāt tried to āupgradeā the charging solution - or had gone all the way.I heartily recommend Norelco shavers, but have mixed feelings about the 3600.
I used to have a problem with ingrown hairs when I used safety and electric razors. The only thing that provided some relief was the depilatory creams from Magic and Royal Crown. These creams were effective, but I hated the smell, and they caused that portion of my face to become darker in shade. I went to see a dermatologist, and he told me to stop using the creams and get an electric razor. I asked him which one was the best, and he said that it didn't matter which one. So I tried many different brands. Remington had a razor that specifically targeted those with ingrown hairs, and I used it for a few years until they discontinued making it. I've been using it for years, and have found that it is more effective than any previous razor I've used. I always use it when my face is dry, never wet. I don't use a pre-shave lotion. I usually wash my face afterwards with warm water, rinse it with cold water, and apply a mild astringent like witch hazel. I no longer have an ingrown hair problem and my face is now even-toned. Every six months, I make sure I order replacement blades so my blades are always sharp.

It works great for trimming your mustache or beard when you are away; requiring no second razor to carry. A plastic guard securely fastens to the razor, protecting the blades from damage & retaining any loose trimmed hair particles away from your clothes as you travel. The Shaver 3600 gave me the identical smooth shave to which I am accustomed from my favorite razor: the Philips Norelco Shaver S9000 Prestige, and at a fraction of the price. With it's delightful-to-hold curved body, lightweight design & storage pouch, the Shaver 3600 earns my highest recommendation.

I like how it shaves and left my skin feeling soft, did not feel any discomfort at all. So, it depends on type of skin each has.Overall:The Philips Norelco Shaver 3600 strikes a balance between performance and convenience. If youāre looking an everyday shaver that gets the job done without fuss, this oneās worth a try. Remember to tailor your choice based on your unique needs and preferences.I would have liked for the shaver to be able to stand up but that is the only thing I would want, besides this, I like it very much.
