I have a ton of gadgets and gizmos in my kitchen. By far this is the most useful and used appliance I have ever bought. I love it.Watch all the YouTube videos and learn from others regarding making pasta. A few things I learned are;1) Weigh your ingredients in grams - the provided plastic cup is not good to use as eggs, water, flour are not the same density or 'line' as described in the instructions,2) Add a little salt and splash of extra virgin olive oil to your wet Ingredients,2) After the dough is kneaded, let it sit for 20 min before proceeding to the extraction process - this helps prevent choppy/dry noodles from being extracted,3) If making egg noodles, use two full eggs and one extra yolk,4) I've been very successful with 200g of AP flour and ... I got this as a Christmas gift from my son, we share a love of cooking. The machine is well made and produces excellent pasta and noodles. I have made ramen and spaghetti so far. My only criticism is the recipes, I have found better recipes on Pinterest especially when it comes to Asian noodles. I made my second batch of spaghetti using a predominantly semolina flour with bread flour and gluten was vastly different from the Phillips basic recipe. The texture chew and flavour of the semolina recipe was 5 star restaurant quality. The machine is easy to use but I prefer to weigh my ingredients and use a measuring cup to add the liquid the cup provided needs a spout to prevent spilling the egg and water all over the top. So surprised this machine actually works as well as it does for the price! Just follow the instructions and you can’t go wrong. A little fiddly to clean the attachments is about the only slightly negative thing I can say about it. We always do a 1/3 fine semolina flour to the flour mix and a dash of olive oil to the egg mix which gives the pasta a really nice texture. The spaghetti is quite fine more like Angel hair but the penne and other shapes are awesome! I think the pasta machine is one of the best kitchen appliances at a great price. We will never buy dried pasta again! Oh and all the attachments fit neatly into the machine which keeps everything near and tidy. I highly recommend this machine to anyone who loves pasta!
I am a pretty good cook, I tend to make most meals at home for my friends and family. I've never been able to make home made pasta before, and honestly never saw the need to. That attitude changed the moment I tried the Philips Avance Pasta Maker for the first time. This machine makes making pasta so easy, a child could do it! I just measured the ingredients by weight, and had pasta extruding in 3 minutes! I Had started a pot of water boiling when I started measuring out the ingredients, so it was ready to go once the noodles were done extruding. Once the pasta boiled for a few minutes and came to the surface, I scooped them out and plopped them into the sauce. The pasta is perfect, with a good bite and springy texture. I've make spaghetti, garlic tomato pasta, and fried udon noodles. The pasta has come out perfect every time. It looks a little dry when it comes out of the machine, but it tastes perfect! I am going to have a lot of fun experimenting with this. Clean up literally took 5 minutes to wash all of the components, yes, I timed it. I really can not express how much I love this machine! It's perfect for the experienced or novice home cook!
My husband purchased this Phillips Pasta Maker for me for Mother's Day. So far we have used it 3 times and I could not be happier with the outcome as we enjoy homemade pasta here in our own home. We purchased all of the extra dyes to make different types of pasta and a drying rack. This machine is amazing and within 7-8 minutes the pasta is drying and 2 hours later it is boiling in the pot on my stove. I will never buy pasta from a store again. Easy clean up - no mess - fun to use and so easy. My husband works for a company located in Germany and a co-worker of his who was once a chef in Germany told him to buy this Phillips Pasta maker - it is the best he told my husband. Yes, it is wonderful!!
The pasta machine is excellent for spaghetti, but I have found that the Lasagna disc produces a very curled and scrunched up mess, and that's with me trying to hold it carefully as it comes out. This means that I won't be able to use it for ravioli or any other filled pasta. Rather disappointingAdditional discs (shapes) cannot be purchased from the shop where you bought the machine nor from Phillips. You have to go online, usually to a Chinese site where they are quite expensive. The $100 pay back as advertised when I bought the machine has not been forth coming despite me receiving a message from Phillips to say that I had successfully applied. I applied about 2 months ago.My recommendation is yes/no. It depends on what you want to make.
OK Pasta making is all about flour and water and a lot of time and floury mess in the kitchen to produce a few hundred grams of this Italian staple. Then came along the Philips Pasta Maker and those arduous preparation instructions just got thrown out the kitchen window.I was incredibly pessimistic about the positive write ups this machine had and so I decided to give it a go.I had a $100 Philips cash back incentive and a return policy if I didn’t think it was all that it was cranked up to be.I WAS WRONG!!This pasta machine is awesome!!I have played with various flours and flavours and everyone of them had come out perfect!!I have been paying up to $9.00 for 330g of fresh pasta and for $1.50 I can do just the same and then some. This machine produces ... I've made pasta by hand many times, usually using an attachment to my mixer. It's delicious, but time consuming, and what a mess to clean up! After I unpacked my Philip's pasta maker and read the instructions, I was ready to try it. In literally ten minutes from opening the bag of flour I had a plateful of fettucini ready to cook. Delicious! For my shells, I had to figure out when to cut them so they would make a cup shape (after they turn into each other coming out of the machine), and they came out beautifully as well. I chose this particular machine after reading the recommendation on America's Test Kitchen, and I'm so glad I did.
I absolutely LOVE this machine. I have been looking at automatic pasta machines for a while and finally the prices were getting better. I looked at a lot of different machines and this one had many positive reviews and was well recommended by Choice. I ordered it and have really been enjoying using it. It is so easy and the pasta is delicious! It is quite easy to clean up after use as well, just be sure to do it straight away or at the very least put the pieces in to soak. I think I will buy some extra discs for even more shapes. I haven’t experimented with vegetable pastas yet but I certainly will do.
