I already owned a Philips shaver (much fancier than this one) that I was very satisfied with, but I somehow mislaid its charger. Rather than trying to find a new charger that would fit, I decided that the best and fastest solution would be to buy a new shaver at the low end of the price range. Enter the Model 2300. And guess what? I love this thing! It gives me just as good a shave as my previous model, and what's more its charger also works on both of them. So now I've got two Philips shavers that I'm happy with.

This razor does a nice job for what I purchased it for. I can shave very quickly without a lot of mess or time. Everyone knows that an electric razor will not give you quite as close as shave as an actual blade against your skin but it is far more convenient. The instructions say that you should use it for a while so that you and the razor to adapt and you will get better results after time, and I found this to be true, after using it a while it gets a closer shave than it did at first. It's weakest point is that on the rare occasion when I need to shave with it plugged in the cord comes out of the razor too easily but I rarely need to shave with it plugged in so this is not really a problem.

I bought this shaver because the Phillips shavers I have had in the past have been good buys. the one I replaced with this shaver I had for at least 20 years. I have found the design much better than the foil shavers I used to have. They needed new foils fairly frequently and some times removed skin along with the bristles.I was a bit dubious about this shaver at first because, compared with my old one, it sounded under powered. However the shave turned out to be as good. I do not wash it under the tap - that seems to defeat one of the purposes of a dry shaver. Instead I clean out the shavings with a brush and stick to the recommended monthly thorough cleaning routine.

I have had this shaver for 2 months at the time of writing this review. I bought it in a sale so I was happy with the lower price. I have had this type of Philips shaver for decades, my last one was still working at probably over 15 years old, but I thought it was time to get a new one. I just wanted an inexpensive basic shaver that shaves which is why I chose this model.I was a bit disappointed that after all this time they had not improved the basic design of the shaving head holder such that the 3 shaving heads are securely held in place and that the holder remains attached to the body of the saver when you open it to clean out the shaver. I always put the plug in the plughole of the sink as occasionally the head will drop into the sink and/or the 3 blades will ... I always put the plug in the plughole of the sink as occasionally the head will drop into the sink and/or the 3 blades will drop out of the head as you shake out the shaving. This is the same as my previous shavers. It also seems to have a slightly shorter battery file than my old saver, which is a bit surprising as I thought battery technology had improved. It does not come with a brush to clear the shaver or a stand as my old shaver did. These point are why I gave it four stars.Apart from this if it lasts for a nice long time I will be happy.
I have always preferred the Philips system for electric shavers to others. I find it gives me a closer by more comfortable shave, whenever I am too lazy to resort to the tedious process of using the straight razor. This model, I find, with the three blade configuration a little less ergonomic than the dual blades I used in the past. Perhaps that has something to do with the contour of my face.I find it gives better results for dry shaves rather than the wet version, again maybe that is me.I find maintaining the instrument is easy because it can also be used wet... makes cleaning much simpler. On the whole, I like it. I may progress to more complex and expensive versions in the future.
Having used a Phillishave razor for most of my shaving life , when I lost my old razor , my choice for replacement was automatically a Phillishave.I chose the 1000 as it looked like my old razor which ave a god shave, felt solid and had good battery lifeThe new 1000 felt lighter and less substantial. It seemed less powerful and seems to have a much shorter battery life having run out of charge after about a week..I had taken my old razor on a cruise from 2 June to 19 June and it was still going. The new razor seems to shave ok but overall I'm disappointed
I am mostly satisfied with this product. However, it did not come with a cleaning brush to help with clearing out collected clippings or a protective case. When my wife purchased a similar model of this brand for me several years ago, it included both of these. Furthermore, the charge lasts only about 40 minutes, per the company's own specification sheet included with it. It requires about two-to-four hours to recharge, but it lasts only about 40 minutes of use. That works out to about 4-8 days of use, if you shave once daily and use the shaver about 5-10 minutes per shave. Nevertheless, if you forget to recharge before it runs out of juice, it can be a real problem. The specs sheet also recommends replacing the shaving heads about once per year, so that's pretty good.
For the sale price of $30 from CTC... guess I got what I paid for these days. Serious underpowered unit...compared to my strictly corded 15 year older Philips model that had a faster, closer cut at the same cost. I have to spend more time going over my face, close to three times that spent from my previous Philips. Not recommended purchase here this time. I wish they had a strictly AC powered unit available...I'd buy it instead for possibly better power. Maybe the motor is made more cheaply...cheaper components?? Not sure.. but either way the end result is a 'not recommended buy'. Before that I tried a Panasonic at over three times the price and it failed after a couple years tops...with a slightly more improved cut than this Philips. Don't recommend them for that ... Don't recommend them for that experience either. Foil shavers are out for me. I find the best results with rotary heads based on the varying hair growth directions that I have. They never seem to miss...and on a first pass. I tried this shaver for over a month now... so I figure my facial hair has had enough time to adjust.. so this review is timed correctly I believe. After this model... I think I'll spend more time on user review reading … than a sale price of a previously successful brand name purchase. Hopefully that will pay off.
About 5 years ago I bought a low end, series 2000, Norelco shaver and I was impressed with how well it worked for the price. So, it was time to get a new one and I bought a new Series 2000. This time I was horrified with how horrible it was. Low power, low RMP motor, low capacity and low power battery. It takes about 20 passes (literally) over an area to shave without feeling too much stubble. The literature says 40 minutes of charge time but you can feel and hear the motor weakening during the same shaving session, after starting with a full charge. The literature also says something about “self-sharpening blades that cut hair just above skin level”. If that was the design criterion then that is the problem. It appears that the blades glide over the hair. I can ... MoreAbout 5 years ago I bought a low end, series 2000, Norelco shaver and I was impressed with how well it worked for the price. It appears that the blades glide over the hair. I can appreciate the pressure to keep prices low, but selling is dysfunctional product doesn't make for happy customers. So, why don't I buy a more expensive model? Because the more expensive models have essentially the same mechanical guts, except that they have superfluous and worthless gimmicks such as "self cleaning" or "smart hair sensor". As opposed to a stupid hair sensor? Too bad. My next shaver is going to be some other brand. Side note to the Philips designer,s engineers and bean counters: You never make a newer product that is so obviously worse than an old one.
I have wanted to try a rotary shaver for a while, I generally prefer the foil shavers. so, I was excited to try this out. However, I was quickly disappointed with two major flaws...Now first of all, anyone who claims it shaves as close as a blade is simply lying...even after four weeks of daily use, it NEVER shaves as close as a blade. try to cotton ball test and you will experience the truth. But the first problem that I experienced was how long it takes to shave with this thing. Even with three heads, it still takes between 10-15 minutes of constant shaving to get even close to a decent shave. Basically, if you desire a five o'clock shadow even after using this thing for 20 minutes, well then you will be pleased...but if you desire to actually feel like you ... It offers a pitiful 40-minutes...which in reality is effectively no more than 30-minutes, which equates to a maximum of 2-days use before having to re-charge again.
