A polished product that lives up to the hype

I bought this product when my old Sonicare Diamond started to get really loud and just didn't brush as well anymore. Unboxing it was a treat. The packaging, the handle, brushes and charging case all looked really good. The app worked well with the brush and I was loving it. I particularly loved the tongue brush that came with the box. After about three months, the toothbrush went from a nice quiet buzz to extremely loud and the brush function just wasn't doing it's job. I thought, oh no! Not again. So, I contacted Philips through the app and was given the phone number to contact them. The support centre for Australia were extremely good. I also trust Philips to replace the handle should anything go wrong again. Fingers crossed.

Looks good, the hum is better than the sound of Non-Philips toothbrush motors, although I’m not convinced it’s quieter. The travel case is nice and compact. The app is nice if you need that, but becomes almost pointless as you learn how to brush with this style of brush.

I also was able to use my HSA dollars towards it to lessen the pain of the cost!

The best part of this toothbrush is the case and type C charger. The case is compact and beautiful and the magnetic closure is good too although I wish it were a little stronger. The toothbrush itself works great. I would recommend to someone who does NOT change brush modes. I however do change brush modes. You can't do that from the handle of the brush, you must open the app on phone to do so. When you are rushing, that is not feasible. I also thought that this was a smart brush that would change modes based on the brush head being used but to my disappointment, that is not a feature either. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. It's not slippery, just weightless... feels cheap, especially when compared to the original sonicare Diamondclean. If you are like me, you want something beautiful in your bathroom and this brush just is not as beautiful as my white and silver original sonicare diamondclean. Speaking of white and silver, what are these horrible colors this 9900 comes in??? I have the champagne color thinking it would be tolerable but I'm definitely having buyers remorse. I have gone back to using my non smart diamond clean. One last thing, the app does not guide you to brush the biting surfaces of teeth so when you run your brush over those surfaces you will take time away from other surfaces and your app will say you did not brush for 2 minutes. The touch up option on app is hit or miss as it sometimes pops up and sometimes it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and just buy the non smart original diamondclean.

Once you go sonic
7 June 2023

My previous experience from electric toothbrush was 10 years ago, it was just a shaking stick with small brush, so I been sticking to manual since… Decided to try again with this model and Im never going back! The first few times was pretty weird and had to learn how to not use it as a manual brush, but starting to get the hang of it a week in. Can definitely feel a difference in teeth and gum! The price is high but hopefully my dentistbill will be reduced…The only negative thing about this is the bad app and that youre not allowed to brush how you want; you can choose startpoint but nothing after that, so not getting the full benefits. Please fix!

Premium brush, an amazing clean
8 July 2022

The Sonicare 9900 Prestige delivers one of the best brushing experiences I've ever had. The brush is powerful, but adjustable for those with sensitive teeth. It holds charge very well, and the included travel case is very useful for maintaining that charfe on the go. After using this brush twice daily for over a month, I have had noticeabley whiter and cleaner teeth compared to my previous brush. The tracking options in the app, built in pacer, and pressure sensor have also helped me improve my brushing habits. The only downside I've had is cost of the unit. It is a big asking price for your average joe, but I think the product feels sturdy enough to last and justify the price.

Really works better
6 November 2022

After 2 uses, I could feel the difference in my teeth. I've used Sonicare for years, and this is best by far. No impressed with the APP, but the new head design gets between the teeth and makes my teeth feel smooth and clean. This time, I actually read and followed the brushing instructions. Hold the brush at 45 degree angle. I really don't care about the sensors, and the strength of the ultrasonic vibration seems similar to my old diamond clean. The travel case is compact. My last brush failed in less than 2 years, hopefully this will last longer. Photos show app feedback and comparison to older brush design.

Unimpressed and I got a cavity
23 May 2023

I’ve used the older models and always had great success. Been using Sonicare now almost 20 years and this is the first time I got a cavity. Only thing different was that I got this toothbrush model. I had a checkup in December 2022 and was free of cavities. Then I got this toothbrush right after since my old one died and within 2 months a cavity. very upset about it. I also notice it doesn’t clean tartar off well in crevices. I have to brush for 4-6 minutes to get it super clean. I will not buy this model again in the future. I’ll stick to the midrange reliable models. App isn’t very good either.

This happens even if you go with the set direction and starting position. If you do not start from that point, it would be even worse. It is not reliable.- The stats in the app - extremely limited.
