Great product but...

I've used many Philips Sonicare products products in the past. The 5100 was very powerful and my teeth have never felt so clean. Having said that, the head unit became very loose after 11 months of use. I'll be receiving a warranty replacement. This seems to be a common point of failure where a screw becomes loose on the head unit. I have had this occur on older Sonicare units after 3 years. It's an easy fix shown on several YouTube videos. Perhaps this is a design flaw or quality control issue, but it's an issue for many Sonicare models. A drop of blue loctite solves the issue. This video shows the procedure for out of warranty units (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU2CdPEFwU4)

Lasts about a year.

Posting this a year and a half later. I bought this toothbrush and it’s been overall great. My teeth felt super clean and I hadn’t had a problem with it until about a year in that it got louder and clankier..? Sort of rattling. Today it finally kicked the bucket when the metal part you put the brush head off fell loose and now wobbles and is incredibly loud. It no longer works as the brush head wobbles back and forth and doesn’t vibrate properly. So sad to see it go. It was my first electric toothbrush so I’m going to try Oral B and see if they’re any good.

Love the power this toothbrush is strong and provides the best teeth cleaningIt has a screw on the inside of the toothbrush that comes loose after a period of use.. And then the toothbrush is useless. If you're savey enough to take this thing apart and tighten the screw and glue it in, it will last forever. If you're not and it breaks trying to pry it open.. Then you have to keep buying another one and these aren't cheap. This is my 5th.i think that's pretty bad. But the cheaper toothbrushes aren't as strong. So here I am buying one🤷🏻‍♀️

No intensity settings, very rough, not for sensitive teeth
22 March 2024

I've been using a Sonicare for 20 years, sadly my last one died so I bought this and it doesn't have any intensity levels. So it's constantly on this super high intensity vibration mode and it's painful if you have sensitive teeth. For the price I'm shocked it doesn't have intensity settings!! The options with intensity settings are either super expensive or have paint around the buttons which seem to wear off quickly, according to reviews. Stop using paint, Sonicare and please always include intensity settings!

[Rewarded Review] Excellent functionality and design of device
18 May 2024

I love the number of oscillations because I have have other similar products with less. My tendency was to press against my teeth and gums. Like an utrasound cleaner, those oscillations remind you to let the tool do the work. Plus the variability of 3 speeds for different functionality gums, clean or white is icing on the cake. I like that the space where the replacement head meets the body of the device is more open so residue from brusing doesnt accumulate in a small crevice. Again a previous device had this downside of residue buildup in that interface region. Therefore the overall design complements its functionality in terms of cleaning maintenance as well. Despite its sticker shock the ease of use justifies the price point and minimizes misuse if one isnt ... MoreI love the number of oscillations because I have have other similar products with less. Gum recession and blunt trauma to the gums is easily acvomplished with a lesser product due to the lower oscillations per second in my personal experience given my tendencies.

[Rewarded Review] Great Product
11 February 2024

I have been a Sonic Care customer since the beginning. My first toothbrush lasted for at least 15 years, the second one lasted at least 10 and now I have this current model. The pros: my teeth very clean, my mouth feels clean and the toothbrush is low maintenance. The cons: I wish it had a few more choices for cleaning, but overall I'm happy with this particular toothbrush. I would have bought the one with the app but I decided I could live without it. May be next time.

[Rewarded Review] Great value, great quality, great battery
21 August 2024

I have a very nice experience with this product. The feeling of cleanness and gum sensitivity improved almost immediately after I started using. The instructions are clear and battery life is great. However, I find it difficult to reach the back of the mouth in the instructed angles. It takes much longer and sometimes I spend the whole 30s interval trying to get around it. I don't have a solution for that yet.

[Rewarded Review] Nice update
20 May 2023

I have been using a SonicCare toothbrush for 25 years. This is my 3rd one. The first two were very much alike and each lasted me 11 years. If the brush heads were still available I'd still be using my second one! However, I really like this newer one. It was easy to turn off the features I didn't care for and the bayonet-style brush head is much nicer than the screw-on ones of old. I like having a travel case and one charge lasts for longer than any of my recent trips! The charging base is compact. The barrel of the brush is a much smaller diameter; for me it's a bit easier to manipulate the older, larger diameter. However, I have adjusted and am quite pleased over all. Matte black was a nice choice, too, except it's a bit easier to scratch through the black than I ... MoreI have been using a SonicCare toothbrush for 25 years. This is my 3rd one. [Rewarded Review] The product works well, . . . but
29 February 2024

I have used Philips Sonicare toothbrushes for years. So much so, that I cannot see myself EVER going back to a regular toothbrush. I have always purchased a white base toothbrush. This time, however, I purchased a black one. Unfortunately, after less than a month of use, there is some white showing around the controls. It is a tad annoying. Also, I dropped the black case once and the plastic in the case broke. It has never happened with the white case I have. Hence, the Good rating and not excellent.

[Rewarded Review] Whoa...Kinda Amazing!
22 November 2024

I'm not gonna lie...I had LOW expectations when I purchased this toothbrush. I had been using a less expensive off-brand electric toothbrush for years, but it was time for a replacement. I figured Sonic would be a lateral replacement for it....wrong!! From the first cleaning, my teeth felt like I had just had a thorough cleaning at the dentist! I use the "Clean" feature in the morning and the "Gum Care" feature at night. I am beyond impressed and my teeth/gums have never looked or felt better!
