After seeing this fountain pen (and its kin) on a number of pen blogs, I decided to take the plunge and purchase one for myself. I like its aesthetic, and was immediately impressed by the quality of the pen. As a small disclaimer, I'm left handed but I found the Metropolitan pen was very easy to write with, almost straight out of the box, and is well balanced. However, I haven't written with the pen for long periods of time yet, so I can't say much about its comfort beyond ten to fifteen minutes of note taking throughout the day, which is fine. Speaking of fine, the fine tip is probably very close to a perfect width for me; I haven't used other brands for comparison, but I feel like it's around the 0.4-0.5mm range, depending on your handwriting style. Filling the Metropolitan pen with ink is also simple with the squeeze converter that came with the pen (the box did have a cartridge of black ink in it as well). Overall, this is a lovely pen to write with, provided you take care of it, like all things, as it can be prone to scratching. Would definitely recommend for first time buyers / beginners like myself, although I can definitely see its appeal to more experienced fountain pen enthusiasts, looking for a simple, inexpensive but good quality fountain pen suitable for everyday use.

I needed a Japanese fine nib but there are limited number of Japanese models are available in Australia or when there are they are too expensive. Metropolitan has reasonable price. Only the issue is the big step between the grip part and the main part causes sore fingers.

Great intro Fountain Pen, really nice build quality and feel, better starting pen than the safari (maybe). One of the few pens that come with a bladder, makes filling up the ink so convenient.

This pen has a classy look, being the gold it is. In a meeting room, people will take notice and ask you what the pen is. The nib is very fine. If you are writing with lower quality paper or just love a thin line, then this is the pen for you. If you like the Safari fine, then go for this one in the medium. I would probably go for the medium next time. Other than that, everything about it is great. the colour. size. weight. Can't go wrong with this one. It's become a classic so quickly for a good reason.
This is my third Pilot metropolitan (F nib), I had some issues with the nib ink feed of the first couple. One the ink wouldn’t flow and the other had the complete opposite problem. However, I really like the metal body and weight of this pen, and the fact that you can post the lid. It’s a really quality-feeling pen, and is really affordable. So was happy to take my chances on purchasing a 3rd. So far so good, and I’m really happy with it. Inked with an Iroshizuku ink

Needed a fountain pen in a hurry for my partners birthday. Really appreciated being able to speak to someone over the phone who was so helpful, and arranged it all for me.The pen arrived just in time (as expected).Thanks.
Good quality pen at a cheap price for everyday use
Excellent service from Mighty Ape. The Pilot pen writes smoothly and provides a good writing experience for the price paid. Will definitely shop here again and received overwhelming support for product inquiries.
I bought this pen recently and I really like it! Firstly, it looks really nice - I think it looks more expensive than it is. The gold finish has a lovely matt look. The pen has a good weight to it and balances well in the hand, with or without the cap on the end. I prefer a fine tip and this one is good, similar line weight to the Lamy fine nib. At first, it took a while to get the ink flowing (using the provided cartridge) and I thought it was a bit scratchy, but I'm not noticing that anymore. Comes in a nice case with one ink cartridge and an ink converter cartridge. I am very happy with this purchase!
