I think with 2B you are starting to get into "specialty" lead territory, i.e. you get a really smooth, dark line that erases easily, but you sacrifice some crispness. Plus, it wears faster and is and somewhat more likely to smudge (just goes with the territory). So, perhaps not a general purpose lead for most people, but if you want what it excels at, you just gotta have it. Dedicate a pencil for it - that's why we have so many pencils, right?

Dark, smooth and soft. When writing with this type of lead I found myself constantly clicking my pencil for more lead, it's a a very nice lead but might be too soft for my taste. Be careful as it smudges easier as well.

Possibly the best lead, ever? Pleasing feedback on the page, deliciously dark marks, and enough smudge for sketching with a blending stump (or your fingers, I won't tell anyone). For me, this lead hits that sweet spot of just soft enough to be enjoyable, but not so soft that the page eats through the lead too quickly.

The best lead I have ever used. 2B works well on water color paper. I have 2B, F & 2H. All are great. The lead does seem to be "softer" than other leads I have used and seems to last longer. What else could you ask for?
I am really enjoying the smoothness of this lead. It was so thoughtful of you to ship it in the 10 unit box.I haven't tried the other lead I ordered but am looking forward to doing so.
AMAZING LEAD!This is the smoothest quality lead I have EVER used. It glides on paper, erases cleanly & doesn't break easily!
I don't have much to add to the other reviews, except to re-enforce the generally held opinion this is very smooth and dark graphite. I've tried everything else, even Hi Uni, and Pilot's Neox is smoother and darker. The down side is a slightly greater proclivity to smear.
I have a heavy hand so in the past Ive had to switch to 0.7 mm. However now with lead guard mechanical pencils I’ve been able to switch back. This is great since I write small. This lead is a perfect pairing with my new fancy mechanical pencils.
I had purchased a Uni Alpha Gel Kuru Toga pencil, which I loved until the lead ran out. I then purchased 0.5 lead from an office supply store and was very disappointed with the lead quality. So I ordered the Pilot Neox High-Purity Graphite Pencil Lead and have been very pleased with it. The only complaint I have is probably more related to the pencil than the lead. When the lead gets low, and will no longer advance, it's necessary to pull it out from the tip, before feeding a new lead into the pencil - otherwise, the lead will not advance. The wasted amount is one inch or more. That's a bigger waste than I would have expected.
I’m an artist and draw a lot using mechanical pencil. One day it dawned on me, “I’ll bet that somewhere, someone must make all different kinds of lead for different applications and I’m gonna find them”!So... I went online and “Lo and behold!” There you were. You blew my mind with all the possibilities yo have. So I bought these two to try out. It changed my life, suddenly women started noticing me, I got a call from the Metropolitan museum about hanging my art and now I’m quarantined in my studio, happily spending my time drawing to my hearts content!THANKS JETPENS!Phil Keane
